One thing I don't think you cover is many students don't fit the criteria for scholarships because they have less than a 3.0 but are still motivated to go to college. Why should these students not also receive scholarships? Yes it's competitive but not everybody does great in high school. Good to hear that you can still apply during college for upcoming years. This was something I didn't know. I have a minority student and I have yet to find any funds specific to minorities even though I had been told for years they are out there!!

Every scholarship organization sets their own criteria for selecting winners. You are correct, there are many scholarships that don't prioritize GPA. Families need to search for the scholarships that are the best fit for the student. There are many scholarships for underrepresented students/minorities.

I'm 61 years old and I am going back to college this Fall at the University of Arkansas to begin my journey towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. I know that some have minimum age requirements but should I also apply, at my age, for scholarships as well?

Yes! Definitely! As long as you qualify with their requirements, go for it!
