This is an amazing video! Perfect example of how the fashion industry must always strike the perfect balance between art and commerce. Well done.

A beautiful video and very interesting interview: beauty and crafts are something which we should always consider in our life, also in times of difficulty. It's true, it's hard to think that in time of crisis we should be interested in such kind of things: we have other problems every day! But... but, when she was still alive, my grandmother - who was a modest embroiderer born in 1908 and who had learn her first stitches on the shoes linen bend of her father returning from WWI - she told me that doing something beautiful is something that helps you survive in the darkest times, it helps you to enjoy life even if there is nothing really to enjoy, it help you to dream a better time, and, eventually, prepare you for a future possibility of a job. If you like to embroid do it, as if you like to do hats, or sew, or carpenter, or cook. This will be called resilience, and also this will help to survive. Then, of course, we may speak of the amazing skills of Lesage embroiderers and of luxury in terms of a market. But this has been wonderfully expressed by Maison Lesage in the video.

So true, both my grandmothers had careers in these kinds of handicraft. A seamstress on my mother's side and an embroiderer on my father's side. Its something worth preserving.

What a great, inspiring video - where the head of the company has the breathe of vision to see the importance of the passion and creativity of the people who do this wonderful embroidery.

Anyone know the name of the machine that makes the holes in the paper

I believe it's a pattern perforator, where the microscopic holes are made to transfer the pattern lines onto the fabric. Hope this helps!

Did she just say that even during times of war, the fashion industry is not affected? Does she really think embroiderists are needed when there is a scarcity?

The irony is that some of the most war-torn regions these days are still heavily invested in craft, even despite the unrest. Think of Baluchistan and their hand-woven war rugs, or Pakistan and miniature painting and Zardozi work.
