Yeah, my nephew did this to a bunch of riders (he was too afraid to go over 5 mph once he started moving). I was so embarrassed for him and felt so bad for everyone else.
I wish that there was one of these Apine coasters in the North Suburbs of Chicago, where I reside. Except for the fact that actually having a mountain to place it on, would definitely help.
I'm pretty sure the cart was malfunctioning based on the video. There was no asshole holding up the line. This would be unlucky but the fact they gave you another spin, sounds like a win in my book. Slow run and fast run, always nice to look at the glass half full.
@@PatrickGleason You honestly showed great patience throughout the video, and thank you for the extra information. It is definetly more logical that she was scared, I'm sure coasters like that have a very routine maintenance. Hopefully she doesn't go for round 2 the next time you visit! 😄 P.s. Great coaster content, ready for more (: +1 sub
According to what Patrick says, the car at the front has the handles all the way forward and the brakes won't release. Please stop ragging on the presumed "chicken" at the front.
@@PatrickGleason So someone was actually so terrified that they were crawling along with the brakes on? That really sucks. Our local ski hill had a seasonal coaster installed and it actually failed for this reason. There was an ongoing lineup of riders demanding a second (or third or fourth) ride because some %$#@ had been scraping down the track two feet ahead with the brake on. After one season it never came back.
So nobody's talking about the safeguards on the ride itself. Luckily the person filming was able to see the traffic jam ahead of time and was able to stop. But what if it was right around that first blind curve? He could have hit the stopped cars going full speed and it could have been a disaster. Is it manual stop only? Or does the ride stop automatically if it senses a problem? There should at least be a series of red lights along the track to warn riders of a problem ahead before they see it and crash into it. Thankfully this day was just an annoyance for the riders but it could have been a lot worse.
It's got automatic brakes that kick in to prevent that. They work kind of like the forward collision sensor in your car. The electronic brake kicks in if you get to close and will stop you
Still not exactly sure. The woman said her cart was malfunctioning. She was able to get to the bottom and no problems were found with the cart. A guest got right in and used it with no problems. The employees said she got scared and wouldn't release the brake. I got to go again because of it.
If I was coming to a place like this to have some weenie holding up the ride... I would deliberately hold up the line so that when they finally got off, everyone could go at the fast speed they wanted. They should not allow riders who can't handle roller coasters and speed; especially if they are going to brake check and hold everyone up. Damn bro... thats as bad as Florida traffic
the issue is that while you want everyone to have fun you holding an active line on the course up could cause a nasty crash down the line if someone doesn't see it beforehand or can't brake fast enough. which is kind of the same the idiots are doing by slowing down to almost zero around corners....you aren't gonna fly off the tracks up in the sky....that's one of the first things which makes me question why people even slow down on the course in general
@@clientcomun1958 I saw a video of a kid slamming into the back of another kid. I made an argument there that kids should not be allowed on those rides unattended because they don't know the consequences of their actions. Most kids don't understand that speed and inertia can cause those nasty crashes; and slowing down is a surefire way of making someone hitting a blind corner put you and them in an ambulance. Really... they should not allow people who brake like this on the rides. Its one thing to hold up the rides; but in real life example i have seen a slow driver pull into the fast lanes in Florida and absolutely get floored by an oncoming car... you really don't go slow in places like this...
I was riding an Alpine coaster in Tennessee. We're supposed to be moving pretty fast. Someone ahead of us was too scared to let go of the brake and all of us behind her were stuck. The operator let us ride again for free though.
The person behind her should have pulled right up to the back and gotten out and taking a look at the cart and gotten in it and seeing if it truly was broken and if it was pull it off the track and have her ride tandem in his car
You go, stand in line. You wait til your car can go, then you go 2 1/2 miles an hour because someone else wants a slow scenic tour? Someone needs to go back to school and learn what a roller coaster is and what it does.
@@clintonscott9623 No need to apologize, Hypothetically you are correct. The original creator of the video explained more, and it was just a scared lady, I jumped to conclusions aswell. We are humans afterall :) and technically you said "people should go back to school and learn what a coaster does" the lady could've used a tad bit of common sense and maybe she wouldn't be on a ride she is terrified of lol. So my apologies.
hey old hag you paid to go on a roller coaster and go fast on a slope . this is all this is about and it is made for that...want to drive like a sunday driver and watch leaves fall? go to the park not the track
Tbh I kinda got that vibe, seems like everyone cared more about going fast, rather then being understanding of another persons safety and well-being. That is life though isn't it? Next time I'd personally recommend asking them about their thought process, rather than name calling and belittling them. Maybe you could both learn something rather than sending blind negativity. Have a good day/night.
That scenery is amazing.
There's no place like Gatlinburg Tn.
I'd have been quite unhappy...who wants a traffic jam on a coaster ride. (LOL)
I mean it's at least nice to look at the scenery slowly and I mean very slowly
*ATTENTION ALL RIDERS, PUSH YOUR HANDLES FORWARD..*
We can't go..
*I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU*
You don't have to go super fast but don't hold others up
Whoever is causing this should be removed from ride & banned !!
Man that's aggrivating. Glad they let you ride again.
Very cool video. Thanks for posting and have a nice day too.
I went here but rode a different mountain alpine. I rode rocky top. That ride was amazing. The theming and just the ride in general is amazing
🤣🤣🤣 bringing the city experience to the woodland folk 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like how it was all quiet and then suddenly
WHAT THE HELL XD
Lmfao
to heck with that... I'd ask for my corn nuts back
They let me ride again. I didn't even have to ask. They already knew.
Hahahaha when the ride started the shit was going on just behind de turn!! Hahahah
reminds me jurasic park safety ride with cars hmm we not moving and then the T rex came :)

This like a jurassic park movies 👍🏻😎🤙🏻
Amazing they need an IQ test to ride a simple ride. They should charge them for everyone to go again.
I want to get off Alpine Coaster 1!
Cars released from the station too close together. Safeties keep them separated and slow the entire ride down.
I'm pretty sure the cart was malfunctioning based on the video. There was no asshole holding up the line.

No, the person was scared. You maybe can't hear it in the video, but she was very vocal about it. Someone else got right in her cart and was fine.
And yes, the staff there are wonderful. Awesome to go twice in a row. Not knowing ahead of time and getting stuck behind her was aggravating though.

Well , at least the mountain is Beautiful , the birds were just a singing !
They need to remove brakes from the coasters so that only the ballsy ones would dare to ride them without ruining other people's fun
That's the slowest roller coaster I've ever seen. It reminds me of the H-3 on O'ahu.
It's not normally. The lady was terrified and wouldn't lay off the brake.
Super annoying to have to wait all that time to get to the top then you have people treated the coaster like a trolley ride thru the mountains...🤦♂️
Great ride, its not designed for a slow scenic view
every time I have driven past this it's been closed for maintenance.
Can't wait to go back to the smoky mountains, it's been way too long.
Sounded like an adult male told the slow person don't push the handles down
I see the car 6 up, is it that one or one in front of the 6th car up ?
I honestly can't remember. We were right on her tail though
According to what Patrick says, the car at the front has the handles all the way forward and the brakes won't release. Please stop ragging on the presumed "chicken" at the front.

That ride looks like fun ? How much is it to ride that ride I'm just asking that's all?
This is the one. www.smokymountainalpinecoaster.com/
Either someone got scared or didn't understand how to ride and slowed everyone down.
That's going to take forever, the guy in front is scared, he's still using the brakes.
Something wrong with the ride or do they just don't wanna go fast or hardly move at all.
The rider was scared. The ride was operating just fine.
hilarious
This makes me want to turn to violence as a solution.

Did the ride stop on it's own or did you stop the car yourself?
XBCPGamer29 you're in control.
It's the dog gone walking speed 😭😭😭😭
This is slower that it's a small world at Disneyland
The I95 cross bronx expressway 😂
bad idea for a coaster .. probably will stay away from there
They should build them without brakes.
That seems safe.....
or put the brakes on the track

Is that the element sign for water on his forehead?
Why is it so slow??

Yes, I got to ride again for free.
👍🏻
😈get a refund they don't manage properly😈
They let us ride again for free. The second ride was awesome.
And, there wasn't a whole lot they could do. They were actively trying to get her to let go of the brake. They actually handled it very well.
Very good🎉👍🫵🫵🔎pgh pa
I rode that

Like, just jump out mid-ride and wrestle the car off the track themselves and then just jump back on? OK then....
