This is Sara Jane Ho, expert of etiquette and founder of the Institute Sarita finishing school.
Etiquette combines charm and integrity. Knowing what to do in any situation gracefully is one of the most empowering things for a person: it means feeling capable and confident around other people. I grew up in China with my mother throwing dinners and parties at home; now I do the same. I like to create magic moments through entertaining, putting guests at ease.
As I travelled and immersed myself in different cultures, I discovered that people all over the world want to have a sense of belonging. I was a student at Harvard Business School and thinking about what I wanted to do in life, when it hit me: I had lost my mother to cancer, but I could keep her legacy alive by sharing the joy and love that she brought to others through entertaining. I took a leap of faith and opened the first finishing school for ladies in China in 2012. Today that leap of faith has grown into several thriving ventures.
As China opens its doors to the world, I want to continue elevating women and give them the tools to feel confident in any situation. This passion of mine has evolved into a business I want to continue nourishing and sharing with people around the world.
As a Scandinavian, outdoor shoes indoors is a big NO NO. During winter and Christmas time, you can bring nice indoor shoes with you to parties and you just switch shoes at the door.
As an eastern european, you step in through the front door w shoes and take them off asap. Never got shoes in the house thing in the states
Getting to the end of this series, I realise how similar Chinese culture and the language structure is to Arab cultures. I am learning Chinese and your interpretations of the cultural nuances and meanings of words in the show is excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed this series and your input on BE!
💯 I just made a similar comment on another episode 😊of hers
Most Europeans don't wear shoes around their house. They may let you wear shoes if it's a houseparty because they would need to clean a lot after that anyways. And in Russia you don't wear shoes inside even for a houseparty.
I personally get very defensive when I think I'm accused of something I'm not guilty of. I feel very embarrassed and annoyed because somebody would believe that about me. I don't think getting defensive is a good way to tell when somebody lies
We have the same TCM theory in the Middle Eastern culture about walking around bare foot
I really enjoyed these videos of yours. Are you making more? It would be nice if you do this for all the episodes.
australians don’t wear shoes around the house either
Is it weird if I say your wallpaper is really pretty
What happened to episode 8 reaction?
Sara, will you be reacting to the other episodes?
U.S., german irish american born and raised and its about 50% regarding shoes in the house or not. I do NOT do it. I fins it disgusting but when my mom and sister walk through the house with outdoor shoes that have been God knows where i silently cringe. I have to pick my battles. My dad and i do more outdoor work and have dirty shoes and we NEVER come in the house with shoes, dirty or not as we are in the habit. Shoes inside, no. Its not clean.
I am black n u better not come Into my home with your shoes on.
I've be we been to a house where you don't take your shoes off
Stop teaching people how to lie! Bad gal!
