This is a great showcase of two things. 1. The internet has been and always will be a Pandora's Box you NEED to teach children (and adults) to understand its implications. 2. The world gravitates towards established countries and leaves behind the less developed. The 'brain sink' theory is literally playing before our eyes. So many of them now have dreams of leaving their homes and aspiring to go somewhere else. When such possibilities exist, why would they stay where they are? Of course the elders are terrified, suddenly a majority of the younger generation doesn't want what they have to offer.
Because they elders have little to nothing to offer. They have seen what the world at large has to offer and now want part not to be left behind. That is not a bad thing

And that tribe has rarely, if ever, seen the tech that most of us have seen the evolution of. A tribe gets uplifted with tech that they did not have before, it can only result in catastrophic damage to said tribe.
It's hard to tell what if any real damage has happened other than boomers being boomers no matter the culture. There probably was some damage, but the benefits will likely be larger. This will give them the knowledge to enter the wider world and not be stuck to a tribe in the jungle I don't see how that's a downside.

That is a well known fact. And has proven itself time and time again. It's not a 'big deal' to us the 'more advanced'; But to that tribe, it's an entire upheaval of their known world.

As an archaeologist with a background in anthropology, giving the Internet to remote groups like this will have disastrous societal consequences for the tribe.
Some of these groups of people need to be left alone and on their own. They're doing just fine. We don't need to do anything to "fix them."
What if the tribe wants to enter the modern world? I can't imagine not a single person would rather take the modern world over tribal living.
