- A Speeding Boat Races The Railroad Bridge Lowering To Let Florida East Coast Railway Locomotive Cross The Gigantic Railroad Bridge Over The St Johns River. This RR Bridge Is In Jacksonville, Florida near the CSX headquarters. Then a long fast train in Folkston, Georgia at the CSX Folkston Funnel. The FEC railroad bridge is a Strauss Trunnion Bascule bridge that was built in 1925. It is a 2 track bridge that replaced a single track swing bridge that opened on January 5, 1890. We see the bridge lower for a FEC Railway locomotive to pass. The locomotive is an EMD GP40-2 that was built in December of 1986. Then we see it raise back up after the engine passes. We filmed in on February 25, 2022. The CSX intermodal & auto racks train was filmed by Mrs Tooth at the Folkston Funnel in Folkston, Georgia on February 26, 2022. We used 3 cameras for this video and filmed it in 1080p.

I'll bet that the boat captain is the type to drive around the gates at road/rail crossings, too.
"Everybody Want to Beat the Train".
I've been a conductor for 37 years and I have never lost yet at ANY Street Crossing !
Always trying to cross the tracks even when they should wait. Water is no exception.
Someday, I hope Jaw Tooth and Danny Harmon will meet up.
That would be awesome!!
I counted 145 compartments and cars on Mrs Tooth’s train. I like the way Mrs Tooth left the camera in a fixed location as the whole train passed. Makes it easier to count the cars and compartments.
13:58 Looks like she wasn't the only one filming it.
RO BT Yes I saw that too. The location must be a popular spot for rail fans.
@@billmorris2613 And fire trucks!
Great job JT another fine train video, thanks.
Another great video JT!!
Good morning to all from SE Louisiana 3 Mar 22.

Great video. We would come through Jacksonville in the 80s because my dad owned a piece of property in Ormond Beach. The street was made of sand. I remember going there when I was small. We had a relative on that street. I remember that bridge. Have a nice day and enjoy your vacation 😊
I wish you a good day 🤗
Glad you got to enjoy Jacksonville too, especially by the river
That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. A two track bridge coming down for a locomotive and then go back up. Your misses has a very steady hand when it comes to recording trains.
Great video of the Florida East Coast Railroad engine coming across the bridge over the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida and the CSX auto rack train going through Folkston, Georgia. The movement of the bridge over the St. Johns River was fascinating to watch. Thank you for documenting these two trains so we could see them! I hope that you have some additional videos coming that you took during this trip to Florida.
Thank you Jaw Tooth. Been there many times.
I used to love to go to Jacksonville to The Landing there.... we used to walk That Sidewalk that led from The Landing to that train track. And it would always fascinate me when I would hear the alarm for the bridge going up or going back down for the train to go across... also you can see the train as it goes past the Baptist Medical Center down there.. thank God those trips to the Baptist Medical Center are not as frequent as they used to be. I thoroughly enjoy your videos... and you keep it good and clean... and I also love it when you show your kiddos and your furbabies!! Safe travels to you and God bless! And Folkston always has good train videoing..
Thank you so much for bringing these videos to us on railroads.
Yep! jerks will be jerks. Gates or bridges thay are jerks...Blessings Leo
Cool bridge it reminds of the one that runs from Buffalo N.Y and Canada, you and the Mrs are the coolest railfans
Thanks for the thumbs up
Good example
Very nice trains! Beautiful weather! Thank you for the amazing train video Mrs. Tooth!
I gotta admit, it's cool seeing you do train videos in Florida :)
Funny how the bridge tender and engineer on the loco are adhering to procedure and speed limit and the reckless boater probably goes 100% throttle up when the bridge is 75% down.
He’s lucky he had a smaller boat and wasn’t running a freighter or something.
He's was probably almost hit by many trains, by driving around downed crossing gates.
"Oh no, I'll be slightly inconvenienced!" Bugs Bunny had the right idea about Florida.
@@oldrustycars South America, take it away!
Great catches Mrs. Tooth and yourself Jawtooth. That bridge was cool.
Beautiful love it
Awesome! We've never seen a bridge like that. Good work from Mrs. Tooth, too!
The nautical version of people blowing a grade Xing. Nice sturdy looking bridge and when it was built almost none of the surrounding items were around or built. I don't know what was flashier. The shirt or the boardwalk. A fine job by Mrs Tooth on filming. Steady and I'm.sure she's enjoying the warmth and time away from the house
Bridge was built in 1925 which makes it 97 years old now
I live near Jacksonville seen that train bridge alot so cool welcome to fla and no snow ❄️🌨️
I am pretty sure that boat was violating the speed limit.
He was because it's no wake zone from the acousta bridge to the FEC owned railroad bridge.
And for going under the bridge, when it was lowering. Just like going around a downed crossing gate.
@@Normal1855 Correct. That boat violated several boating laws. The driver of the boat should have his license pulled, fined and possibly jailed for those reckless actions.
And was a only a few seconds of a 16+ min video and barely noticeable. Nice.
What an amazing piece of engineering to lift a rail road track to let boats through.
Bravooo!! Great report! 😀👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Thank you very much Mr. Jaw Tooth!
Ha!! I have lived in Jacksonville all my life and one of my son's favorite thing to do was going to the river walk to see the train's coming across the river we would stand on the bottom of where you were to be able to feel the wind from the train as it crossed!! Thanks for the memories of that!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Growing up in Cleveland, I remember when the "default position" of such bridges was "down", because the rails were used far more often than the Cuyahoga River! I've rode across most of the valley's bridges on locomotives, with my father. Today, the bridges Stay UP, until a train needs to cross, as depicted here! What's happened to our country's once mighty railroad system, is "TRULY SAD!"
I saw one east of Cleveland a few years ago. I want to film it working
Mike, as someone who used to live in Cleveland and now lives in Jax, I know exactly what you mean. This bridge is fantastic, and there is a smaller but equally cool bridge I've photographed many times for my channel. Is that bascule bridge in The Flats still there? It was ancient when I lived there.
That's the way it is on ALL UK rail movable Bridges too - Good rail gets probity over bad boats and even though the UKs an Island and reliant on maritime trade... 👍
Well the cuyahoga was so thick back then you could walk on it
@@JawTooth There is a drawbridge for the railroad in Louisville. It has gigantic concrete counterweights on each end that come down when the bridge is raised. I'm not sure but I think it's on the L&I railroad.
Wow. Beautiful sunny Florida! Thank you for the great video. Enjoy!
that is one huge freight train-keep up the good work
Awesome video Jawtooth! Awesome place! Really beautiful there! Thanks for sharing!
Hope all went well with Norfie. She's grown up into a fine little cat! We enjoy seeing the kids and the animals it makes us feel like we're part of the action. Enjoy your vacation and keep your camera rolling.
Yes, she is doing fine. She was a little sleepy but she pretty much is back to normal
@@JawTooth Norfie is beautiful did you name her because of the NS locomotive color?
@@JawTooth hi
Awesome video did u get a chance to visit or see Alan millenniumforce and louie from quacky louie adventures down there while u are down there
That was cool can't remember seeing that before nice long train there love it cool nice 😎
Wow that was crazy, that little boat speeding thru underneath the lowering drawbridge. Too bad they didn’t get the number off his boat. That’s another one of them can’t wait won’t wait guys. Anyway cool video Jawtooth. I’ve been meaning to tell you. We do enjoy watching your kitty and dogs at the end of the video. Thanks and have a good one. 👍👍👍❤️
I actually got a ticket from a police marine unit for speeding under a bridge with a posted speed limit. Got off because of the large currents you needed speed to pass safely
Hah! A Florida stair swipe! Nice scenery and pretty blue locomotive
Cool to see that draw bridge in action. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video!
Next time, lets see the coming together and the separating of the ends of the bridge.
That is something really different indeed! That steel bridge lowering and the blue locomotive waiting to cross. And up again those tons and tons of steel. Real engeneering and constructing. Totally different area than Kentucky or Ohio. Fascinating views, Jaw Tooth. And you running up those stairs.Cheers and a big smile.
Nice looking older GP40-2, (and what a goofball that first boater was just barely getting under the bridge...) We have a big one of those bascule type bridges on the ex Great Northern mainline out here - just watching the bridge do it's thing is cool.
Some one
Doing stupid things in Florida
What a surprise!
Another great video JT. I just ❤️ ❤️❤️ Bascule bridges and that near centenarian is a corker‼️
Best wishes for health, wealth, and happiness for your family, including all the fur babies, for 2022AD
Awesome. I am enjoying this Florida series.
I can tell thid is a good video and its only just released
Enjoying these North Florida videos son , greetings from Jacksonville Beach!
One can only imagine the view from the "top" of that thing when it's raised...
Don't know about you, Señor Jaws, but if I were the bridge operator I'd call the train conductor and tell him or her,
It's interesting that those Florida East Coast locomotives have two sets of horns-one in the front and one in the back. I don't think I've ever seen that before.
It is not two sets of horns that the locomotive uses, in fact it is the same horn both times. You hear a different frequency because of something called the doppler effect. Essentially when the loco is coming towards you, the sound waves from the horn are travelling faster making it sound like a higher pitch. When it is moving away the sound waves are slower making it a lower pitch. (I'm assuming you were talking about the different pitches you heard in the video and not a physical set of horns you noticed on the back of the loco.) Correct me if I'm wrong :)
I over painting a house near the Hart Bridge... Good to see you here checking out Jacksonville
Its great to see Mr. & Mrs Tooth out on the job , great work Mr. & Mrs .👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Seems Like 👍 you always get the Fun Assignments ALL over the South and Southeast. Great job. 👍
So happy that you made it to my coty of Jacksonville , Fl. Jaw Tooth. Just I was suggesting only 3 days ago to " come on down here" Here you are . A big WELCOME to you and yours.
Another great video JT. Mrs tooth is as good a videographer as you are.you're always there to shoot some interesting occurence for us, enjoy your vacation yourself and mrs.tooth both.
That beautiful place love train bridge train videos All good love caboose miss seeing them that big 10 onthat one all ways love hear train horn sound good 😊👍 beautiful picture
Thanks Jaw Tooth i really appreciate you taking time making these videos i enjoy them.
Your wife must be a sweetheart tagging along on your railfan adventures. Maybe she should be "Sweet Tooth". 😁 Loving the videos from down south. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels.
1:35 I was just wondering if that was a cormorant in the lower-left corner of the screen, under the bridge, and it was ! :)
AWSOME CATCH JT VERY COOL AND INTERESTING TO WATCH THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS WITH YOUR SUBSCRIBERS 👍👍👍👍👌👍😇😁🙏
Great to see you doing one of your great videos down here in this part of the country. Norfie is a cute kitty. That boat that sped through before the bridge closed was going too fast. Watching the other boats to through, they were at idle speed. Much of the St. John's is a slow zone due to it being Manatee Season. That was a great trainfanning spot in South Georgia. Great video, as always. The HQ of CSX used to be that for the SCL: Seaboard Coast Line.
In Stuart Fl there is a walk path that goes under the tracks at the St Lucie inlet. Very similar but a single track draw bridge.
Thanks for the video and chat. Enjoy your trip down south. I trust Norfie came through the operation OK. See you open the next!
Gee's Son Mrs Tooth put out an excellent vid as well ... Thx for posting ...
Mrs Jawtooth got a good catch with the second train. Also, love the doppler effect from the k5la. 😊
Grew up in Jacksonville. Now living in the Northeast. All these bridges are etched in my mind. The adjacent concrete arch bridge replaced an aging vertical lift bridge-also fascinating to watch in action. Thanks.
Great video, FEC 433 is a GP40-2 original delivery date was 1986 for the FEC. In 1986 FEC had 433 and 434 delivered. These were the last GP40-2's produced. FEC 435 thru 447 were all GP40 that were converted to GP40-2's. There is a great article on the FEC railroad in the July 1996 edition of Trains magazine. FEC 403 is on the cover and the article runs from page 34 to 43.
Robert a former FEC employee now retired in Lagrande Oregon.
That bridge is amazing.....
It was in the 60s back home in Cincy yesterday and Tuesday, it’s gonna be in the 70s Saturday and Sunday back home. Have fun on your journeys
The new version of going around the gates
That bridge was the coolest!!
This was a very cool video. Enjoyed it and thank you.
Good video Jawtooth I have never seen a drawbridge in action before.
Thanks for the awesome video of my hometown and the one at Folkston. Great railfans action around the area.
And a great big thumbs up for Mrs. Tooth!! (y)
I love railfaning in Jacksonville FL I actually live in Jacksonville
Cool 😎
You just got a sub
Oh well thanks
I usually put all the trains I see on RUclips
Oh that’s sick 😁
A FIRST!! Never EVER have I seen a Bascule Bridge raise and lower ! KUDO’S FOR MAKING MY DAY JT!.
Outstanding!!! Yet another interesting and scenic video. You are the best!
That double stack was in Folkston.👍👍
Great job Mrs. Jawtooth!!!
I think the guy in the boat is one of the same guys that ran a crossing here in Ohio while you were filming!
Another great video from Mrs. Tooth. :)
Beautiful cat! Looks like a Bombay with those golden eyes.
That's so sweet! Love the location.
Great catch on the RR bridge! See what some 70 and 80 degree weather can do? LOL! And a very nice big CSX train to boot!
Thanks! How exciting!
Excellent and really interesting video 👌thanks very much Jaw Tooth
Hey buddy that was an awesome video woooow! That bridge that went down when that blue Florida East Coast train that passed the bridge and then it lift it up for that boat that went under it that was brilliant. That long CSX train that was awesome. I like that Chessie System caboose that was amazing. That was the greatest video.
Thanks for sharing buddy!
That is video by Mrs. Jaw Tooth was no joke. 4 locomotive 91 autorack + 52 Intermodal cars without the locomotive it was 2.17 miles long. Now those autorack might have been empty. Which would make my next observation null and void. I was watching a Millennium Force video where he witnessed a coupler failure. He actually gave the conductor a ride back and forth to fix the train. He made an observation about coupler failure and the fact that CSX didn't split up its power. I'm just surprised to see all 4 locomotives on the front end of a 2+ mile train.
I moved lift bridge in active service .Very exciting .thank you .
Cool video love that bridge thanks for sharing
Great Video. Hard to tell if auto racks have loads. it would be nice to know. Thanks for getting out there.
Ya got great patience Jawtooth! Thanks for that interesting sequence!
Wow Jawtooth, awesome man! I wasn't watching the Folkston livecam that day I don't believe, I wouldn't be surprised if anyone had noticed you though because lots love your videos.
DUDE I LOVE THIS VIDEO !!!
THANKS AMAZING BRIDGE WOW !!
Hey Jaw Tooth,. Great video. Back in November I stayed at the railroad cabin next to the old Chessie caboose in Folkston. Folkston is railfan heaven!
Spectacular friend 👍🚂
It's amazing how they can lift all that heavy still.
Just looking at the thumbnail I could just tell that was downtown Jacksonville. I stayed in one of the waterfront hotels prior to bootcamp and that’s all I looked at over there. I like this shot here.
Uh oh Norfie at the Vet. Enjoy your vacation!
Thanks for the video - hope you enjoy Florida!
I did!
