16:41 - if you REALLY wanna know what those Chinese words for satay (沙爹） "translates to", it says "Sand Father". But, that is not the point. The whole point is that the characters phonetically sounds similar to "satay" when spoken out loud. Kinda like "Coca Cola" in Chinese is "可口可乐“ ("delicious and joyful" when translated, "ke kou ke le" when spoken).

This is funny, I was just watching a Doobydobap video where she's in Singapore eating at Hawker stalls and all I could think about was the time I was able to visit Singapore and actually go to Hawker centers (back in the 90s though, sorry I'm old) and then magically you guys upload this video literally 15 minutes ago and even more Singapore and Hawker stalls to watch! YAY. I hope you guys had a great time in Singapore because even though I was only there for 4 days, it was incredible. The main city itself is beautiful and full of amazing spots, not to mention the foooooooood scene is one of the best on the planet hands down. Though yes, it gets really, really hot there. I live in S Florida, so I'm used to the humid tropical stuff, but Singapore was even more intense when I was there. Still, had a blast. And let's face it, Hawker culture there (which is supplemented by the government mind you) is as you kids say "fire" or "bomb" and it's SO cheap and you can get incredible food. A friend I knew in Singapore basically told me, it's cheaper to eat at Hawker stalls all day, than it is to buy food and make meals yourself. !!!!! What??! Sorry for the wall of text though, it's 4 AM and I'm beyond tired :(

I have been to Chomp Chomp since the 70s and with various renovation. Glad you get a chance to see what a local (away from business district) gets a chance to eat. Prices are moderate, not super cheap and not expensive for sure. you save money whenever you go to a non airconditioned hawker center. Definitely a great choice similar to going to Old Airport road to eat.

OMG, I just came back from Singapore 2 weeks ago and on the second night I had food poisoning from eating chili crab as well! My wife was okay tho but I was puking the entire night and had a bad case of diarrhea.

That's why Seafoods are banned in the British Royal Families' menu to avoid accidental food poisoning! 🙏 Hope poor John is getting anti-food poisoning treatments & getting well soon! Always add lemon juice drinks to seafood especially oysters, crab, prawn to prevent upsets.
That makes no sense and is purely old wives tales.
