Hi Ted, what a massive undertaking and change! I would have been terrified. Not very comfortable with change. You must please continue with your channel. I learned so much and found so much pleasure watching your videos, and cannot imagine you not being here. Thank you again, by the way, as always. Good luck with the preparations and move! May everything work out fine and smooth.
Hey Ted, great to hear the surgery went well. I hope Germany 🇩🇪 brings a chapter into you and your wifes life. I can imagine it hurts having to get rid alot of your collection but i wish you both the best of luck.
Thanks. It's not as bad as might seem, getting rid of so much stuff. It actually feels good to narrow my collection down to something more manageable which I can better concentrate on learning about.
I’ve had my fair share of moves, but I’ve never moved to a whole new continent! This is HUGE news! Don’t forget about us fans in Texas when you start your new chapter in Germany. I’m looking forward to your content always. Even your filler episodes are rather enjoyable! Happy Stamping Ted! Or should I say “Viel SpaB beim Stempeln”!
Welcome to Europe, Ted. Then you're almost in my backyard (Denmark 🇩🇰 😀) Happy new beginning in Deutschland. Regards Claus Dittrich from Philatech STAMPS.
Wow, good luck on the move Ted, happy you’re going to a place with a fantastic and rich philatelic history! We’re all definitely looking forward to you getting settled in and making some great new content!
Have you ever thought of having your belongings shipped to Germany? It may cost several thousand dollars but the peace of mind and the minimum task is well worth it.
Sounds like a great adventure and make the craziness of scrambling to get everything done worth it! Look forward to your new videos from Germany! Best wishes with everything!
Hey Ted, happy move! I know you’ll make many wise, strategic decisions to carry it to satisfactory conclusion (Including having USPS on standby, just in the unlikely case AF1 should fall through). I have an eBay tip for you, that I’d be surprised if you don’t already know: I write a note under each listing telling me where to find the item. Plus, I came to realize embarrassingly late, that I must use item numbers. I write all 12 digits, but broken into 3 x 4, and only consider the last 4
Long time viewer, first time commenter. I wish you the best for the move. May your adventure bring new unforseen joy into your life. I always liked your content, and I'm sure, once being settled in Germany you'll keep us posted again with philatelic content. All the best for now!
I hope you are not too sad about leaving some beloved stuff here. I lived in Bavaria for three years and loved it! Beautiful country, but housing is generally more expensive AND of lesser space than homes here in the U.S. I think my favorite city to live in was Wuerzburg. You also could not be moving to a better place for a stamp collector. The hobby is still quite strong there.
Surprisingly enough, it doesn't bother me. Part of my minimizing process involves cutting down on my areas of focus for collecting, one being, of course, Germany.
Hope your moving goes ok make sure you don’t loose out in the sale of things . I have been to Hamburg when I was in the services in the u.k calling at nearly all ports BestWishes
Hi Ted, I am an A.M.G/post-WW II collector from Stuttgart. Originally, I am from the Ruhr area (Westphalia), and if you take the A2 motorway from there eastwards, you’ll get to Bielefeld. I have been there and can confirm that it exists.😂 Anyway, good luck with your move. Check out the big national stamp show in Ulm in October. I’ll say hi if I see you. Best, Stephan
I'm glad to get verification on that. LOL I hope I can make it to Ulm. Can you refer me to a web site that publishes a schedule of stamp shows in Germany?
Wow, what a huge step and welcome to Germany! I'm sure you will like it. And you may get new influences for a new specialised collection. Maybe something with Germany? ;-) Hope, to meet you on a exhibition somewhere or in Hamburg. Auf Wiedersehen!
Ted, there are ways to ship stuff internationally. I’ve known people to move across the pond with a lot of their belongings. Customs can be fun 😂. Scanning the documents is a good idea though.
I'm sure I must have missed an episode or something - you mentioned going to Germany but it sounded like a trip and I was waiting for an episode on it.. And then I realised it's an actual move!!🤣🤣🤣.. My brother works in R&D and his job involves flying out to the Essen division. He may bump into you randomly on the rare occasion ... wouldn't that be wizard.. !! He's actually flying out next week.. What's the weather doing lately? It would be interesting to see how you feel the philatelic scene in Germany/Europe compares to the USA. Just catching up with all the vids.
Hi Zak. Sorry for the late response. Germany didn’t work out. We came back to the States and applied for a D7 visa for Portugal. We received our approval a few days ago and will be flying there next month. I will be exploring the philatelic scene in Europe over the next year.
Congrats on the new adventure . I envy that you will now be right near all the best hingeless album makers …….. Lighthouse is right around the corner . How far is Geesthacht ?
Hi Ted, that is a change. Welcome to Europe and please be aware a credit card is more likely often refused than excepted in Europe, so bring some cash and get a German bank account quickly with a debit card. I believe you will enjoy Europe and hope to see you at one of the European stamp bourses. Where in Germany will you be located?
GERMANY!?! WOW!!!! And your comic book collection is incredible! Ted, you're a National Treasure, surely the President can lend you Air Force One for the move!
Glad to hear that you are moving to Germany. Any special reasons for that decision ? If you got some bulky stuff, you might take a container which shouldn´t be too expensive. Meanwhile over here it´s quite difficult to rent an appartment or a house due to tons of asylum seekers and folks from Ukraine, especially in cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt etc. Paderborn is a very nice area in Eastern Westphalia where my former wife studied. Perhaps it´s easier to get an appartment in this rural area. And yes: Bielefeld is real and does exist, it´s just a prank ! 😉 I decided to go the contrary way and move to Boise/ Idaho where my former American study buddy and girl friend is living. Our plans are to purchase a couple of acres over there and do some gardening because we both studied horticulture at Hannover University. Probably I will use a container when I will move over. Best of luck to you and your wife, anf if you got any questions, let me know. Greets from Germany, U.
Have you considered sending the heavy stuff through ship....it can be done inquire as i did it when leaving New Zealand for Greece in 1979.Sorry to learn that your moving to Germany. You'll be closer to Europe...
Ted good luck your wife and you, take care. i live 11km from Saarbrücken don't worry Germany is well organized, in a good economic situation (it prevents inflation as much as possible). Europe works, and companies are setting up. give me news you ave my contacts Cordialement Michel
I posted a message here but it disappeared for some reason. I hope there wasn't anything inappropiate in it? I am too tired to post the whole thing again. It might be because I mentionned a certain online store? I'll try to spell it in a different way. Could you tell us the name of your 3-bay store or seller id so we can help you give those comics a good home?
Sure. Look for jade.monkey (with a period in between). I didn’t get any listings up today, but I plan on getting a bunch listed for auctions tomorrow (Monday).
For the adventure. We want to travel around Europe, and being based in Germany will make it more convenient than flying back and forth from the States. I think it will make for some great philatelic adventures, also.
Hope to hear from you soon ! You inspire us and we need your words of wisdom! Good luck in your new adventures ! Love from Greece !

Yes, we thought of shipping, at the beginning. But, we decided against it for several reasons.
Ted, good luck on your move. I’ve really enjoyed your work. It’s definitely a courageous endeavor.

Shipping by container (or even half-container) for the stuff we have was simply not cost effective. We want to have minimal possessions now, anyway.
Best of luck on your European journey. Do you plan to eventually return to the states?

Yeah, overseas shipping is crazy expensive from the US.
