    Something happens in your mid to late 20s. It's like a switch. Life is happening and when you're focused on your career and family, things that take away from that do fall by the wayside. It's not just a creatives thing. I'm finding it's this age group. Alot of things I used to do I just don't care to anymore in favor of either work or relaxation from work that's largely spent by myself cause I don't want talk to nobody when I'm trying to relax lol. "I will see you when I see you" not because I dont care about you. But I care about me more and am learning to prioritize my own time now.

    We all like to see ourselves as the heroes in our own stories and it sucks to realize that we also act as different roles in the lives of everyone around us. It is nice to know that it is not just me. My friends have always been the ones who are willing to pick up where we left off a year after not seeing each other.

    As an introvert, I FULLY understand that “lonely but I lowkey don’t wanna interact” feeling. I think you going to your co-working space is sort of like me going to my dance classes each week. I get a healthy dose of social interaction without it being too much because we’re all busy dancing.

    Wow! I too desire to be around people without the interaction. I would rather sit at the local McDonald's or library alone than spend life-draining time with people. Recently, I was supposed to help a friend move, however I had to keep leaving as my energy was being sapped by all the frenetic chaos whirling around me. I have to psych myself up to engage with people for an extended amount of time. I have learned through practice, how to endure the painful pleasantries and shallow discourse without revealing how uncomfortable i am by these conversations.
    I am so glad that I am understood, if only not by my immediate social group.

    Beautiful video and I love the intro!! I had to watch it twice. I am going through the same uncomfortable feeling times two. I have been away from my hometown for two years and outside of social media likes and comments, I have drifted away from majority of my friends and some family. Not because I want to but more so because of the growth I have gone through finally living on my own. Then I met people here ( Jax fl) and have drifted away from them because where they are in their journey is toxic for my growth. It's sad, but I'm learning to accept the loneliness.

    Thoughtful video, Hallease. A friend and I were talking about this particular stage in life where we tend to gravitate towards certain people and leave others behind. On one hand while some relationships end because of toxicity, many naturally begin to fade because these relationships arent meant to be permanent. Feelings can get hurt, too. For some reason it always hurts when you lose a good friendship you werent necessarily ready to give up. On the other hand, however, there are wonderful relationships we will always appreciate. For instance, when you phone a friend once a month who you havent seen in over six months, but the phone calls are a necessary way to keep up in each other's lives. Work feels fulfilling and is necessary though and it is even better when you have supportive people beside you, no matter what. Take care, Hallease!

    • @hallease
      @hallease 5 лет назад +1

      "It always hurts when you lose a good friendship you weren't necessarily ready to give up" it really does though. It's one thing to recognize the gradual separation and be okay with it -- and a completely different thing entirely when you're not and yet still needing to let it happen.

    This is definitely me as well. I am an introvert and a creative. I sometimes go to the library to work in order to feel a connection with people, but at the same I don't want to engage 🤦🏾‍♀️ lol. I don't have many friends, but the ones I do have completely understand my space and when's the right time engage with me lol they don't take my absence as an offense. But it does get lonely when I look up and realize I would like to hang out and don't really have anyone to hang with🤷🏾‍♀️ then I'm like dang what is it that I care but don't care at the same time? Thanks for making this dope video.

    Like I said, "I'm old". So take it for what it's worth. As one seeks to "find one's self" or define his/her values,
    it may be tempting to act according to one's "feelings" (Some Bhuddists say there are 88 earthily desires i.e. "feelings"), but this will often have mixed results, leaving one conflicted. That is why a person will often choose a set of parameters that come from outside oneself i.e. major religions that can serve as a check on their "druthers".
    A humanist may choose to develop "her/his own" values, but it is hard to find a set of human-based parameters to judge one's success and it is easy to feel lost, and be tempted to slide into some form of "tribalism" i.e. Left, Right, race, sex, money etc. Good luck with your website, it speaks to a real cultural need!
