13 MIN Cool Down Dancers Routine | TRAIN LIKE A BALLERINA

  • Welcome back to Train Like a Ballerina 🩰
    Ever wondered how a dancer cools their body down after training or a workout?
    This is a quick guided active stretching routine for safe, and relaxing cool down that you can do after any workout or dance class. The aim of this guided class is to gain flexibility, whilst retaining your strength and slowly lowering your heart rate back to normal.
    Here is a short breakdown of the routine:
    1. Tripod Stretch
    2. Runners Lunge
    3. Child's Pose
    4. Penché Stretch
    5. Downward Dog
    6. Hanging Hamstring
    7. Active Hamstring Pull
    8. Roll Up
    9. Breath work
    Level: All levels
    Duration: 12 Minutes
    Equipment: None
    *For beginners use a chair, barre or wall for support on some exercises

    👉Remember to listen to your body and adjust the routine based on your specific needs and the intensity of your workout.
    👉 Stretches SHOULD feel broad and along the muscle, not just in one specific spot. Stretches SHOULDN'T feel like it is in one specific spot.

    Really enjoyed this stretch, thank you! Would have like a lil bit more abs/front stretch, but was easy enough to do a few cobra variations after.
    You mentioned that on your program you had to pause as you were taking longer in this video to instruct- that is why I un-subbed from the app, I much prefer a guided spoken through routine as you do on here- when I am confident in the movements and know what to do, I can mute/play music over, and follow along. However, in the app I found it too clunky to have to pause and read the descriptions for movements/positions I may not have been familiar with. Just my 2c, really do enjoy and appreciate your work!

    TY!! Just finished this cool down vid. Feeling great ❤ Quick question regarding exercises for dancers. My ballet teacher always told me to try n stay away from running regularly as a dancer. Was wondering does that apply to incline walking as well?? 🤔

      Thank you so much for your great question Jenny!
      I was told by Ballet teachers, my entire life not to run because it is bad for the knees and the legs when, in contrary, it’s a requirement for dancers to train their cardiovascular. It just has to be done in a very specific, and correct way. I personally, advise training dances on treadmills instead of outside to mitigate the risk of injury, and we are also working on an entire running for dancers program for the Train Like A Ballerina Academy, which will be launching very soon.
