Hey Julia...I have been reading The Couple from Poitiers by Georges Simenon and I i'm also a fan of his since he was from Liege Belgium and he was in Paris France and for a time he lived in Connecticut and he retired in Laussaunne Switzerland
I DNF'd BEACH READ and POWERLESS too. I gave POWERLESS to my niece bc she is closer to the target audience. Have you read THE GLASS CASTLE or ANGELA's ASHES or CALL THE MIDWIFE? I think you might you get out of a slump with these great books!
