      I get what you mean - but I "trained" myself to look inwards for the inspiration, and to find out how to express that - and learning how to dial in the most usable sounds on whatever firewood that was in my hands. There are STILL tricks to playing that nobody goes over in any videos. When you know them, it's facepalm stuff.

    Hmmm, I would say $1500 is still VERY expensive, I wouldn’t call that a budget guitar - in this day and age, with the global economy being what it is, certainly the average player (I’m talking about people who play guitar as a hobby, not professional musicians or anyone making a living through playing guitar) in the UK would not have that amount of disposable income to spend on one. I don’t think that value for money is the selling point of this guitar. It’s certainly a very interesting, innovative and unique guitar, in terms of the pick-ups they have developed, and it sounds great in a mix, it seems to cut through really nicely. What I found even more interesting was something you touched on briefly that I wasn’t aware of - the PRS tele models. They have obviously caught on to the fact that the Tele is SO popular right now, with musicians of all genres, all ages and all levels, that’s why I said in the video I’ve just put out that Fender is the future and they will leave Gibson in the dust; PRS are pivoting away from copying the Les Paul to copying starts and teles. If that’s not the canary in the mine for Gibson I don’t know what is.

    • @johndaugherty4127
      @johndaugherty4127 22 дня назад +2

      I feel Gibson will be fine. They do have the best guitar, one can buy, in the Les Paul. And they have the PAF. They will never overtake Fender, I am a tele guy myself, but, with Epiphone in their pocket, they also have the budget/ mid priced guitar market covered. As long as there are guitar playing people with a lot of money, there will be a market for Gibson. One thing in Gibson's favor is that they are now in Tennessee, instead of Michigan, and more centrally located in the U.S. Fender is stuck in commiefornia.

    • @johndaugherty4127

      @JojoFryrocks 22 дня назад

      @@johndaugherty4127 Teles are the original and best, which is the point I’ve just made in my latest video. PRS are doing something smart, just look at the success of the Silver Sky; they did it with the Strat, so it’s the next logical step.

    • @JojoFryrocks
      @JojoFryrocks 22 дня назад +1

      @@johndaugherty4127 The Les Paul is demonstrably not the best guitar you can buy; very far from it!! I’m sure Utkarsh will agree, there are SO many better guitars for the same money and they’re generally not made by Gibson. And they don’t have the lower end of the market sewn up at all - Epiphone are pricing themselves out of that market, which is really dumb. The competition is FIERCE in the budget end; Squiers are a far better product and better value, but even they are under attack now from Harley Benton and others at the lowest end, and the PRS SE range is far higher quality than anything Epiphone do for the same price.

    I have a PRS Studio, which has 2 Narrowfield and a 58/15 LT Humbucker at the bridge and overall it feels like the most perfect guitar in terms of sounds, feel, and construction. I had always wondered why I didn't see many Narrowfields out in the field, but I'm starting to see them more often. It's almost like a mix of both humbucker and single coil with its own distinctive tone.

    I remember last year PRS saying that another NF - the NF53 - was their best selling model; of course they were lying through their teeth. It was a good guitar, unreasonably expensive (as always with PRS) but they infuriated most people by trying to promote it as the "Tele killer". I can't recall what was the story with the NF3 but it was probably very similar (good instrument, very expensive for what it was, "Strat killer"? ) And of course it didn't hold it's value - you're right, you can get them now on the used market for a reasonable price. What is the problem with PRS? They constantly want to innovate (e.g. the NF pickups) in a market that isn't looking for innovations. And they are selling their stuff at prices few people want to pay. Is innovation a good thing? Not necessarily in music, especially when you have a million cheap choices of gear that can get the job done. So understandably when 99% of people want a Fendery single coil tone they won't try to get it out of an NF pickup.

    PRS certainly makes the prettiest guitars. I bought an SE 594, that was beautiful, when I started playing again, but the e strings kept rolling off the fingerboard because of the rolled fingerboard edges, which I hate. Pawned that guitar to get a birthday present for my son.

    • @MashaT22
      @MashaT22 22 дня назад +3

      That’s not normal for a McCarty 594 SE. You probably got a really rare dud. The strings shouldn’t be rolling off the board. In fact, I don’t even think the edges on the SE are technically rolled, as I’m recalling from my friend’s. They aren’t sharp, but I don’t really think they’re rolled either. I’ve never even seen rolled fingerboards being mentioned on any spec sheets or reviews. Maybe they just round it off a hair at the most, but there is definitely still plenty of an edge on both sides to work with. I don’t think PRS has the time to be rolling the fingerboards at the SE price point.
      It is also possible the nut width was narrower than you are used to, so the string spacing wasn’t wide enough for your playing style. Or maybe it was just your technique didn’t yet adjust if you were out of practice and first coming back into it (no criticism meant). Sometimes it’s not the guitar but the person not being used to that guitar spec.
      I hope your son got something nice and that you got another guitar that you love!

    i've been watching your channel for a few weeks because i don't really like PRS's and i want to find one i like (SE range, i'm not a man of means). i kinda like the McCarty's, and i think the frontrunner for a PRS SE purchase for me would be the Zac Myers. it's got a tasty, old school rock-n-roll mid push.
    but the thing i am REALLY waiting for is for the "PRS Teles" to hit the SE range. i love *non-standard* Telecasters. i collect them, slowly lol, and i have 2. a Squire Contemporary Tele that i am itching to put Dimarzios in, and a Fender HH FMT Special Edition etc etc. it has a bad name, so i just call it the Bastardcaster. if you ever got your hands on one, you'd know why. it's essentially a Les Paul in a Telecaster "shape". Powered by Seymour Duncan. Pearly Gates bridge, 59 neck. i don't know why, but i think you'd love it.
    the next 2 "Teles" i plan on getting are a Schecter PT Fastback, and a Charvel Tele that will take some doing because it's a bit expensive.
    if PRS bring their Teles to the SE line, they shoot straight to the top of my list. the Myles Kennedy is gorgeous, but at over $3000AU i will never own one.

    A $1500 guitar in not an inexpensive guitar. This is the big disconnect today between guitar players. If someone is going to spend $1500 on a guitar, even as 'functional' as the one in this video, they will likely go to their brand of choice. Nobody is going to spend full price on a 'functional' guitar that doesn't have something they are looking for, specifically. These middle ground pickups are the reason why. It's the same thing that made PRS a brand: something between a Fedner and Gibson, that's a PRS guitar. This may not be popular among PRS fans, but that's the reality. They are their own thing, of course, but it doesn't stray far from either influence. The korina alone makes this guitar too expensive for the average musician, and those who actually want a guitar made of korina are not looking for this tyoe of guitar. I'm sure it's a fine playing, well built guitar that has a unique sound. But if that were all it took to make a particular model successful, then we'd have stopped buying a long time ago.

I have not yet played the MIJ Pro version which is about the price of the PRS you discuss new ($2400 USD+/-). But I am not a particular fanboy of any company. I feel you can benefit from expanding your guitar manufacturer palette, and it would bring more credibility to your appraisal of a "best guitar" or "hidden gem".
    The Narrowfield pickups simply sound different but they don't sound good. That's why the guitar failed. They don't do anything more than a set of Duncan Duckbuckers.
    As an alternative, an excellent manufacturer of Mini-humbucker pickups is DiMarzio. Their Fast Track produces a much more powerful single coil sound that can compete with a full size humbucker, so if that is the tone you want, an Ibanez Andy Timmons model is a far better alternative to the NF3.

      Since you mention it, me and my friends were trying to put a finger on the difference in the feel between PRS vs something like a James Tyler, Suhr or Ibanez the other day. I don’t have much experience with the former two since I don’t live much in the strat land but I have bought and sold many Ibanez’s over the years (the 1990 UV7 is the one that stays). The best analogy we could come with is that those three companies make incredibly high performance guitars which are dialed to 10 and make you play a certain way. PRS on the other hand is super high performance yet somehow has the forgiveness and ability to dial back like a Gibson or Fender. Not a perfect analogy and I have no clue what it means in technical terms, but the summary of our subjective experience and hundreds of guitar owned and played (between the three of us)

      @@ministryofguitar So, the only reason I brought up the Ibanez AT, was because of the pickup set. Ibanez is a rebadger. Their finest guitars are made by Fujigen and they have various plants in China/Indonesia produce their low and mid-tier models. James Tyler also sources parts from Japan. In my opinion, you're better off buying from the house brand 😉 My favorite guitars are Japanese (in particular my Burny and FGN Les Paul Customs). However in my opinion if you want a Strat, nobody makes a better one than G&L.

      Just an amazing coincidence. I should do such videos with more forgotten guitars

    Not impressed. Never heard of it or an NF53 or a Miles Kennedy.

    You make it sound like RUclipsrs are deliberately not promoting a product and then we find out it's a PRS that isn't even made any more. Great way to make me waste my time watching as it took you ages to get to the point. Time waster.

    Wow. This guy talks SO MUCH and in a barely intelligible manner too. GET TO THE POINT MAN, unless you're dragging this on for Ads of course and I thought Jordan Peterson was verbose. Moving on now, I get Migraines from this channel.
