and one of the best comedy writers too - he wrote stella street aswell as the comic strip. rik, ade, nigel and peter are all brilliant comedy performers - Bad News is timeless genius
I saw Bad News on tour, when they played at Loughborough University Students Union - they were brilliant! A full on night of headbanging and belly laughing! RIP Rik...
Agreed!! Ade and the rest need to do a reunion of both! I'd dearly love to see new Young Ones episodes, since we've only had the twelve all these years.
Just orderd a first pressing of there album. It will sit proudly along side my hendrix, Beatles and Cream LP's, safe in the knowledge that their musical legacy will live on as long as those guys. 'Its all anarchy isnt it?'
@leianog Vim is miming the song. hes away from the mic many times in the clip with his vocals still playing. Even at the end with the scratched record jump is to show theyre miming. THIS IS GENIUS. Brian May produced, and PRE SPINAL TAP.!! Peter, Nigel, Rik and Ade are amazingly funny , I recommend the Comic Strip presents Box set. also Young Ones, Bottom, Filthy Rich and cat Flap etc.... Thanks for posting .
@TheEvilWeed Indeed. He loved it. Anyone who hasn't seen the show before you really should. It's classic. "We're the only band I know who can play a 13-bar boogie..." superb. It's funny that I've seen lots of people say they ripped off spinal tap, but it was actually released a year before...
Bad News was broadcast first actually, but Spinal Tap was released in cinemas, whereas The Comic Strip was a (then) UK/TV only affair. FYI a lot of musicians consider Bad News to be the funniest and closest to the truth.
Thanks. I thought afew people might miss it when my channel was suspended. Although I seem to remember you watched and commented on it far too frequently. ;o)
I'm sure you're right about that. Had the Saints had access to a record company, they and the Ramones might have been recognized at the same time. Still and all, Australia's got a rich punk history that is pretty well recognized by now--Radio Birdman and all that.
The best thing about this is that Brian May produced this version and even played that solo, taking the Mick out of what, without a doubt, is his best known solo. But who can you laugh about if you can't laugh about yourself?
The Ramones and the Saints were both innovators and came out at the same time. You can't say the Saints did it first when the Ramones did it at the exact same time (1974). The Ramones may have even been a little earlier, because they did their first show in March when I don't believe the Saints had quite got it together yet. That being said--yeah, Americans do tend to take credit for everything!
Is it just me or does this band (in costume) look similar to KISS in the 80s? Rik Mayall kinda reminds me of an 80s Paul Stanley and Nigel Planer kinda reminds me of an 80s Gene Simmons.
an argument on what was funnier Spinal Tap or Bad News? They are both very good parodies of rock bands. get a life they both were cool. I must confess i do like Spinal Tap a little more.......but what up?
jerry kauffman Well said! I prefer Bad News but I'm biased because I love Rik/Ade/Peter/Nigel, but in some ways I think Spinal Tap were very clever and a bit more subtle. Either way both were great, why bother comparing them?
stuart johnson Spinal Tap's thing was chaos behind the scenes, where as Bad News had the approach of letting chaos follow them wherever they went, be it on the road, on stage, in the studio... nowadays it's common knowledge that Ade knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to playing music so it's not a good idea to call him untalented. Spinal Tap wanted to follow a successful yet eccentric band. Bad News wanted to follow some blokes from down the pub who thought they were rockstars and were just a walking disaster area.
Like every other rock band of the 60/70/80's it's about time "Bad News" had a come back!!! Oh Yeah.... Also while we are discussing Bad News, how about a return of the "Young Ones" 30 years later. If AB Fab can do it so can Young Ones.
i feel sorry for Peter Richardson. Didn't he create the whole comic strip thing, and he gets called the 'new boy'. Poor guy. What did he say back i cant hear it.
The mockumentary; Bad News Tour predates; This is Spinal Tap as well. That movie may have never existed had these guys not done the same kind of thing first.
I believe I once heard Ade edmondson say that Bad news was written a few months before Spinal tap but it was a coincidence that they had a similar theme. Don't quote me on that
Steve Hicks I third it. Spinal Tap was meant to ridicule the “has been” band that is trying to make a comeback but it ended up being too close to the truth.
and one of the best comedy writers too - he wrote stella street aswell as the comic strip. rik, ade, nigel and peter are all brilliant comedy performers - Bad News is timeless genius
this is egregiously hilarious!! What made this hilarious is that Ade, Rik, Nigel and Pete did it completely dead straight.
i hold the proud memory of this band signing my face and getting pics with them...
I saw Bad News on tour, when they played at Loughborough University Students Union - they were brilliant! A full on night of headbanging and belly laughing! RIP Rik...
Wish I'd seen Bad News live though I did see 2 live Bottom tours
I still cant believe he's gone. RIP Rik.
I know..It's so sad....
Love is the answer.. bon voyage!!
RIP the peoples poet.
Long before the darkness were this lot.
Brilliant, love that solo! 😁
watched this when it was on originally, still makes me smile today.
2:16 - Not only do they predate Spinal Tap, they predate Milli Vanilli! 😆
Jackie May bad news was before spinal tap. They copy it
Long before the darkness too.
@@thegurrutubeSpinal Tap had more songs though.
R.I.P.Rik Mayall :(
Out now on Frilly Pink Records.
nathan ryan "Yeah.Do you wanna make something of it or what?"
I hate Barry Manilow!!!
Hey Hey Bad News!
@@DVDfeverGames fuck off bad news
The moment when Ade's wig falls off and Rik helps him to put it back on. Ahhh, best friends for life...
This is freaking hilarious!
Fucking amazing!!! RiP RIk :( you are a legend!!! Long live Bad News, the Comic Strip the Young Ones and Bottom!!!
Agreed!! Ade and the rest need to do a reunion of both! I'd dearly love to see new Young Ones episodes, since we've only had the twelve all these years.
Love it when he solos in Wogan's face.
Ahhhh just brilliant....I never knew this existed!
OH Rik!!!!!!! :'(
RIP Rik you beaut xxx
懐かしい~

Thank you for the upload, cheers!
i actually bought this on 12" single and loved it
Hhahaha Rik's reaction to having to wear all the girly make up haha Love the Gene Simmons tongue impression.
Bad dreams, are keeping me awake at night,
nightmare, I think I'm gonna turn on the light,
Bad dreams, here comes the beast again,
AAAARGHHHH!
If you sing that again, I'll break your guitar!
legendary

Perfect!!
R.I.P Rik Mayall
Ade actually has a good voice for a rock band, and can actually play too.
legendary . love bad news
filthy rich and catflap meets queen
perfect
Three bass drums.😆😆😆😆
RIP Sir Terry
I threw a bottle of piss at Bad News at Donington. Missed, though.
I would pay almost anything for Collins t-shirt 🤘🎃
Fighting over who sits next to Wou-gan.
best part was when the cressando started looping 😂
Absolutely! Even the Split Enz had great moments before they went commercial.
And the funny thing is that at least Ade is actually an excellent musician.
It would have been funnier if Wogan had taken his wig off at the end as well as Rik!
😂 Fair doos to Wogan though as I pointed out elsewhere his Eurovision commentary was great.
@TheEvilWeed Indeed. He loved it. Anyone who hasn't seen the show before you really should. It's classic.

The Saints had some good songs but wore flares and long hair. The Ramones had the sense to change their image.
LOL at 1:04
the kurt cobain transformation.

R.i.p. rik mayell.
Four legends........plus Terry Wogan.
C'mon... Wogan's Eurovision commentary was legendary. Actually made it worth watching.
Who now says NOW when they listen to the original?
Oh thats the ITV programme called The Roxy at the end of the video !!!
Bryan Adam's and one of his victims of love, lmao! Rik's a legend.
How ironic that Nigel Planer starred in the original cast of 'We will Rock You'!
Yeah, definitely Bad News. They filmed it in 1983 but it didn't get to the States until 1985, when Spinal Tap was already out.
Hey Hey Bad News!
What an unbelievable pile of fucking shit.
Rest in Peace, Rik. :_-(
Ah, the rising sun t shirt. Everybody had one in 83.
Great idea, they could call it The Old Ones
Too right they were.
He said "im new to this channel yea!"
Brian May produced the album and joined them on stage during their tour. I guess he saw the funny side.
haha, rik at 3.58! Nearly fell out of my chair!

thats colin grigson on bass!
Personally I Preferred their original material like 'Warriors of Genghis Khan'
The good tunes are good even by todays standard..
it's still real to me dammit.
Is it just me or does this band (in costume) look similar to KISS in the 80s? Rik Mayall kinda reminds me of an 80s Paul Stanley and Nigel Planer kinda reminds me of an 80s Gene Simmons.
Still better than kanye west's version! 😂
where can i get tickets????????? ....this is... this is.... this is ummmmm
Genius.
"Ladies and gentlemen, now it's Brian Adams and one of his victims of love!"
I don't know why, but that just sounds so funny...
It's Bryan Adams.
Rik is so pretty.
It's TV, they can ignore that and go on. :-)

whatever Jerry. ANYTHING'S BETTER THAN THE CRAP THAT COMES ON JONATHAN ROSS
@iguanaproof
Yeah, it's a nice idea, but I think they all died over the 'Cliff'
@Shuffer73 I think it hit me!
Cheers me up
brilliant BAD NEWS FOR DONNINGTON 2011
OMG, what shyte.
RIP Rik Miyall :(
would be great if they would plat download,i think they shoulf headline it soad wont mind .
classic
Do they do weddings?
@TheEvilWeed
Brian May played the out of tune guitar too.
When they filmed that scene, they really were playing Donington then? Do you have any info on how that was arranged?
Heavy Metal.

has adrian lost hes voice at the end?
what kind of bass is that (:
Have you got a contract?
Yeah, music lovers took one out on them.
Bon Jovi and all of those horrific joke metal bands from the USA copied Bad News, only they weren't joking.
Why isn't bad news and more bad news on you tube??!!
Just watched both on channel4od while at work!
They are now.
Bad news cracked me up...spinal tap didn't
The mockumentary; Bad News Tour predates; This is Spinal Tap as well. That movie may have never existed had these guys not done the same kind of thing first.
both are amazing

Totally agree! Loved Bad News, Spinal Tap didn't even raise a smile.
metalbearuk I think the “problem” with Spinal Tap was that it was too painfully close to the truth about certain bands.
What show were they on at the end?
Wogan - boring 80s to early 90s chat show! At least they were livening it up a bit!
@stellastey That's what I keep posting on Download's Facebook XD Oh God I love Bad News. Rik Mayal rocks the 80s metal look so well
yeh bad news came first then spinal tap then more bad news.
I thought it was a bad idea breaking out of character. Wogan shouldn't have done that.
Blows Queen off the fuckin stage!
Bad News! doing spinal tap long before spinal tap.
Bad News sure as hell did it better!
they sure did.
Steve Hicks I third it. Spinal Tap was meant to ridicule the “has been” band that is trying to make a comeback but it ended up being too close to the truth.
Long before the darkness too.
@@azrael193Spinal Tap has better songs and more of them. Bad News has Warriors of Genghis Khan, This is Bad News and not much else.
i don't think the audience got it
Actually ade is in a folk rock band in real life called the bad shepherds. Ge sings abd pkays a lit better then he does in bad news!
i got allergies to gossipers and small town people. they need to get a life
