So they can transform into their own personas, pretty much like what happened to in Digital Devil Saga, where they became demons.
So it's like persona but not persona at the same time. similar mechanisms but different environments.
I always liked that mechanic in DDS. That sense of duality to the characters. Not exactly human, but more than demon
