Is a FLUSHED iron shot the best feeling in golf?? This episode was a lot of fun with Chad from Foreward Golf and his team! Do check them out, and don't delay on getting FIT, it's a critical step in taking your game to the next level. Looking back, now I know why I enjoyed playing golf after a good rain. I would absolutely stripe the ball, and it's because the ground was soft, and the bounce wasn't affecting my shot.
I seem to remember a quote about Hogan (I think) where he was asked about playing in the wind, and he that he tried to hit it on the second groove up on the club.
The USGA museum has an iron that was Ben Hogan's, a 2 iron if I remember rightly, with a spot the size of a dime that is absolutely pitted to the point where you would question how playable the club was in that condition. Super impressive, and I am not particularly a Ben Hogan fan.
@@RockyMtnPineapple the ability for any golfer to hit the dime every time is nothing short of God given talent. Not every guitar player is Van Halen. No amount of gear or practice will replace that gift. It's to be admired and not envied.
How does progressive CG play into the proper area to strike a club? How does that relate to where optimal striking point is? and what if the bottom of the wear pattern is touching the top of the bottom groove, is that too high on the face. And if so how much is that negatively affecting shots?
My wear mark is not overlapping that bottom groove it’s right on the top edge of it. I have been wanting to get my irons flatten as well. I can see myself even tho I play Titleist everything and have for decades. I would be open to moving into FORWARD GOLF irons and get fitted
I am curious as to how offset affects strike quality. I played forged blades from the 1960's until the 1990's. At my best I was a 1 handicap. now, at 68 years old and trying to get more distance and forgiveness with new Mizuno JPS923 irons. I find that I am unable to make good, consistent contact off of the ground and feel like bounce and offset are working against me.
I am a year younger than you and have same issue. My iron game was grooved on the old blade irons. I get many of the modern clubs in my hands, no matter how well fitted, I am not as consistent as I am with my MP-33 blades that are over 20 years old. Don’t hit nearly as many greens in reg with the modern irons. All comes down to what was ingrained in my swing way back when.
That's really interesting - hadn't thought of those things before! I'm an occasional golfer who's getting in to it a bit more recently. Had the same set of clubs for nearly 20 years - interesting to think how they've shaped my swing and my game...
Cannot possibly be the 3rd groove on every club as the longer the the club the steeper the face therefore contact is nearer the equator hence the reason you hook or slice more severely with the long irons and woods as there is more side spin than back spin it’s elementary physics.
When I bought my fitted low bounce mizuno jpx 921 hot metal pros the difference was night and day for me. I can’t imagine playing a higher bounce ping ever again.
Any chance on doing a video of fixing low point to far forward? So many videos on RUclips address high handicap player issues. Very few address good player issues I myself struggle with too much shaft lean and low point with irons far to forward.
Have I seen your swing? I'd like to see the matchups you are creating and how I could be of help. Maybe look at my offerings on my website - milolinesgolf.com.
Great info, this whole time i'v been hitting tiger strikes and the ball comes off low and I think I'm hitting thin and struggle to find the center of the face for me to hit the center of the face i feel like i'm trapping the ball and a little inconsistent.thanks
milo, i've often wondered if when i address the ball the club is actually on the ground and lined up to hit the ground rather than the ball and it seems like i'm setting up to hit a fat shot. should i set up with the bottom of the club a bit off the ground so it bottoms out later after striking the ball?
Maybe but in my experience where yo place the club at setup has little to do with low point. Take Moe Norman for example he set the club on the ground feet behind the ball but still flushed it every time.
I've heard that sound watching Tiger warmup. Tiger makes a distinctive click when he hits it. There's no thump from ground interaction. You can tell it's close to thin, but not quite. When he was at his best, he could go through his full warmup and barely leave a mark on the ground. Incredible. ruclips.net/video/TDqvIvSvrYQ/видео.html
Are you familiar with the Tour Striker training club? A fan of it? Kind of goes against the low on the face theory as that part of the club has been removed from the Tour Striker
I'm not sure about the full golf swing, but I have heard from a few sources that cross eye dominate golfers have a putting advantage due to less head movement required

This is the most intriguing fitting process I’ve seen.
Chad has some great ideas and processes no doubt! Here is the other video we did with him and Foreward Golf: ruclips.net/video/Gjilgpg0rP8/видео.html

thanks guys--really added to my understanding of the effects of bounce and lie angle on ball flight and fitting
You bet Tom, thanks for following along!
Glad you liked it!

@@ForewardGolf…. How do you go about doing this ?
Always used high bounce wedges. Here on the East Coast I play a lot of soft turf. Should I reevaluate that?

So where on the ball in relation to the ball’s equator would you say the center of that wear mark on eldrick’s iron would y’all say is contacted
3rd groove

I trying to do the Milo strike.
Haha, I'll have to send this to Chad. "MILO STRIKE"

You haven’t seen my swing. But I’ll reach out with some videos.
Love all your content .
realllllllly good info.
Thanks Bill! This was a fun one.
Thanks for watching, tiger strike!!
What would you recommend for a consistent nice trajectory strike but slightly heel strike. Great turf interaction. Shorter clubs?
One way to find out is going through the system yourself!

Once you can identify the tigerstrike you’ll never look back!
Does Dietz have an opinion about the V-sole included in Srixon irons? I'm curious because I'm a strong-grip golfer who takes significant divots.
Chad fitted me into ZX5s, I've been playing my best golf ever since I saw him.

Turf conditions certainly played a part as he wasn't immune to divots, but there was definitely a distinct noise off his club face.

I must be in some Bizarro world where the issue I'm having is, within a week, a video from Milo.
We listen =)
I enjoyed that!
Thanks for watching Chris!
Thanks for tuning in, tiger strike!
I noticed Chad is left-eye dominant. So am I. Does that play any type of role in the golf swing?
(Really dumb question. Sorry.)
I'm not sure about the full golf swing, but I have heard from a few sources that cross eye dominate golfers have a putting advantage due to less head movement required
Chads an absolute savant.
Obsession !!
I hit the ball more on target using this than divot taking…..TinJug youtube….. only shorts but no divot strikes(was a mat😂)
Tiger strike is the only term you could come up with for a well struck iron shot? Do you think he invented it or something?
Not my term and he definitely didn’t invent perfect contact but he might be the greatest iron player ever.
It’s due to the wear mark on his 8 iron
Call it whatever you want, just identify !
Wear mark? I prefer to use the whole face! I also play the whole course!
With driver you can get away with that more due to design, but with irons and wedges we ought to be working to strike it more consistently.
Harder than it seems. Golf is.just s hard game to get a hold of. Nothing to do with Eldrich. Thanks for instruction. Regards. Canada.
Certainly Tiger is and was a special breed
Golf is hard! Thanks for watching.
A strike high on the face does not send the ball left
I’ve always hit the ball like that and always been made a joke if for nothing taking divots 🤭
tiger strike
This was a fun one! Thanks for watching.
Lets goo!
World class golfer 😂

Those are thin wears.
😂 thin to win
Every low landscape has a strike pattern like that. There is nothing special about Tigers wear pattern
Playing like Tiger…sure🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is not helpfull for an handicap player.
