I love orchid repotting videos, never too many repotting videos :) Especially cattleyas, which I have to do too. I'll probably use your orchid clip idea too. Thanks Rachel! It's been awhile since I repotted mine, so this is a good refresher.
Looks much improved, will be interested to see it's progress. On the bright side , at least it's great gardening weather. Well done Sam👍& yes please to more cattleya repots, it always inspires me to check mine.✅
Sam👏,well done!!!More repotting, please!Rachel, you are the best🌷,I hope your cattleya grows well and fast☺(that's not what orchids do).Stay safe!love,Irena.
Nice repotting Rachel and I hope it does well for you. The only thing I would have done differently would be to give the good roots a good trimming.....I think it tells the plant to start producing more. You seem to be keeping yourself safe. Take care and enjoy your orchids. Ed.
@@EdsOrchids I saw how you trimmed roots on yours!WOW,right now I lack courage and confidence to do it your way,but I keep it in mind...maybe next year.Happy growing to all of us🌸
Are the rhizome clips that are made for use with clay pots not a thing in Ireland? One end secures over the edge of the pot while the straight section goes over the rhizome. They hold pretty securely, so much so that getting them off the pot again can be a chore in and of itself.
@@GardeningatDouentza well that stinks. If you feel adventurous, you can google a picture and try making them, very simple design. I'd have some sent to you but, you know, everything is closed here so I can't go to my orchid shop.
Oyster grit is sold anywhere that they sell farming supplies as it's fed to chickens. It helps their beeks and shells be firm. Failing that, and the fact that we must stay home at the moment, ebay might be a good place to look.
Rachel; I can understand how difficult it is to find potting medium locally ! I just ordered Orchiata New Zealand Pinus Radiata Bark - Ex Large Chips (1") - 40 Liter bag (10.5 gallons) & had to pay almost as much shipping as the bark {sigh} but when you Need it....
The plant still moving:( you need to ties her much better!! 🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🌸👏👏👏👏 thank you for showing your videos 😂😂😂
Yes, this is true. I put another clip over it afterwards.
I was waiting for the picture of that orchid in flower. I always look forward to your orchid videos whatsoever your doing. Stay safe Rachel.
Check out the 'May in Bloom' video that I linked to at the end of this one to see the orchid in bloom.

Thank you, Irena, and also from Sam.. Another repotting fan, I see :)
Great informative video! I know this has nothing to do with the repotting but I love your window space in your kitchen.
Thanks, Danni
I hope it get recovery and bloom for you.I have the C.Momilani Rainbow "Waldor"
Nice one!
She looks a lot better after emergency surgery. I beleive that will trigger the dormant eyes to grow. Good luck, keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
Yep 🤞
Good job Sam! it is not easy to cut this wire!
Sam says thanks :)
More cattleya re-potting videos please? I have a few to re-pot as well, that will help. Thank you for sharing.
Hope to record one today 😊

I love to see the repots, always learning something new, like the hanger as a ryzome clip. If you make them, I'll watch then. 😊
Also are you going to participate in the Global Virtual Orchid show on April 4th?
Hi Wanda. Yes, I will probably take part in the show if I have something nice to show. William is so full of good ideas,
I love to watch Repots

Michael, growing cattleyas is not a thing in Ireland so we can get no supplies, not even bark. This bark came by post from Germany!

@@michaelmccarthy4077 What s very kind thought. Stay well 🌺🌼🌻
Why didn’t I think of reusing old wire hangers 🤔?! Thanks for the video!
We all have so many of them. Thanks for watching.
Did this Orchid survive? any updates?
Thanks Rachel! Can you tell us where we would get Oyster grit?

Yes, when you need it you just have to have it :/
So much valuable information
Thank you, Nelly
Hello! Could you please tell me where you buy pine bark for your orchids?
Currlin nursery, Germany
Thank you!)
Rachel I watched your video on planting sweet pea. Am I too late now? I'm in county down.
Thank you.
Sweet pea can be sown now but it will mean that they flower later.
What was the last thing (material) you put on after you repotted?
oyster grit
Maybe a treat of calcium nitrate while you wait for the grit to break down. Doesn’t happen overnight!
I know. And it leaches better if cold water is poured over but I only use warm for my orchids.
Keeping Fingers Crossed this poor plant survives. Noticed you _Didn't apply Cinnamon to the cut rhizome before repotting.. was this an oversight?
Thanks for the well wishes. I don't usually put cinnamon on rhizomes as it will just be washed onto the roots when I water it.
