Considering Edinburgh Trams cost nearly €1billion a decade ago for a similar length of track for what is essentially an airport link at this moment, I would say Odense have done a pretty good job :)
Ahh they're all shiny and pretty and new 😻 From an engineers point of view, it must be nice to design a system from the ground up, fully accessible etc. Very informative video mate, great shots too 👌🏻
I live in Tampere, Finland which is a really similar city when compared to Odense. We have 250 000 inhabitants and we also built a new tramline. It was opened in 2021 with 16km of track and similar passenger numbers. We got it for only 240 million euros and it has now been so popular that an additional 6,7km of track will open this summer. There are very likely plans of an additional 13,6km of track to nearby suburbs. We use a Skoda tram with similar specs, frequency of 7,5min, top speed of 70km/h, average speed of around 20km/h and lenght is 37m although the trams will most likely be lenghtened because of them being crowded in peak times. Really interesting to see two cities in two different countries build two almost identical tram systems only a year apart!
Nice system, but there is no way for casual visitors to pay a fare. No ticket machines! Consequently we rode for free; no doubt there would have been a fine if any inspection had taken place

Thanks Janik. I had seen conflicting information as the Odense Lightrail website says 32m, but I see most other websites says 29. Oh well minor detail 😃 www.odenseletbane.dk/om-odense-letbane/fakta-om-letbanen/
8:00 SHUT UPP! U must be kidding me, only 444 million?! That's it?! By looking at those green tracks and shiny trams and the VERY high salaries of the Danes, I was thinking waay more. There's something terribly wrong with the UK!

Thanks mate! Totally agree, the system looks great and Odense made many smart choices building this
What a great video - I am coming to Odense on a cycling trip later this year to visit a friend, and can't wait to see these trams in real life!

Are the two switches there at Korslokke for future tram lines turning left?
That would be correct :-)

scandinavia = pay by smartphone, coins and papermoney are not working anymore
I prefer it that way, but I acknowledge that not everyone is comfortable with that.
