Kendrick Lamar Disses Drake On "euphoria" [Reaction]

- Опубликовано: 12 сен 2024
- On April 30, Kendrick Lamar dropped "euphoria," a diss track directed towards Drake, in response to Drizzy's "Push Ups" and "Taylor Made Freestyle." Let's discuss.
#kendricklamar #euphoria #drake
The angle about Drake's "Blackness," isn't about his genealogy, but instead the way he relates to the Black American experience aka “The Culture.” Drake uses Black culture in a similar fashion as White people. It's a costume to be cherry picked for all the cool parts without ever engaging in the foundational struggles that are the bedrock of our culture. From FUBU, to Timbs, slang, to gangsta/mob ties persona, etc Drake likes to dress up and cosplay as us but hasn't had a word to say about any of the major social issues affecting our people over the past 15years. People trying to water-down that point to "they're teasing him cuz his mom's white" are missing the actual criticism.
ima get to this, thank you for this
I came here to say something similar but you worded much better than I would have lol 👍🏾
this the one. you betta PREACH!
Drake’s blackness is not called into question because he is biracial. It is because of his upbringing and trying to embrace street culture despite that. … that’s why people don’t question jcole’s blackness
That and Drake uses his blackness when it is convenient for him. When you black, you don't get to take off your skin or how you are perceived
possibly yeah, but listen to Wale's Groundhog's Day when he drops that line about Cole.
To me this is it. There are other mixed rappers that dont hear about it like drake. And to me it's that fake puts on a act, instead of being him.
Thank you some ones paying attention
@@gifi11and when did he take off his blackness then?
Drake had a real difficult task here because flexing money and talking about smashing someone’s girl and the usual stuff… doesn’t work against Kendrick whose image isn’t based on that. Kendrick is a cultural figure in hiphop and Drakes biggest vulnerability is his insecurities with identity, riding waves, and by talking about Kendrick going away for 5 years…. Drake doesn’t realise he’s opening the conversation of ‘what have you done’ not just the time… and it’s not just money. Something drake shows no regard for - cultural value and not squeezing every dollar out of everything imaginable.
Bro you acting like Drake didn't body Kendrick already lmfao
Spot on bro
@HIM22316 lol he didn't wtf you been listening too must be an ovo dickrider like k dot said 😂 cmon man the world knows K dot up stop the ignorance

I don't think this battle will change anything. If you love drake, you'll always love drake. If you love kendrick you'll always kendrick. No one is going to change their opinions. I'm here for the entertainment though.
i kinda agree with you. People are who they are, this wont change
Agreed. They are so different and it’s the era of stans so ppl will stick beside their man lol. Which is fine, no one’s career has to end for the battle to be good. But I agree that nothing that either of them can say will make fans not like their guy. Ppl who dislike Drake been disliking him for a long time and Kendrick just said what ppl have been saying.
The same stood 4 NaS & Jay, but the overwhelming sentiment is that everybody just watched 1 of them get beat up regardless of who they were a fan of. The best disses in rap history were irrefutable & undeniable, so tho a new era, neither artist has produced that vicious punch. But each diss has contained elements of "don't make me go there". They're battling while playing it safe & trying 2 use reverse psychology.
I agree
Nah if u support drake ur a weirdo and value being fake
Only real breakdown yall should care about ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿

That snippet is from the Wiz Richard Pryor says “Everything they say about me is True! I’m a phony!”
bong! yup! I was moving fast and forgot about that movie, i havent seen it since i was a kid
Dayum! My gawd you are right! 😂 das crazy. Kendrick stay above folks head. I mean you gotta know black movies to even get that. Meaning you gotta be into the culture.
And it being played backwards is a nod to Prince.
They pointed that out on Twitter yesterday
Kendrick Lamar respects Hip-Hop thats why he always wins...gotta respect the artform
My thoughts too, and why I didn't like taylor made free style. I dont think AI belongs in art just me.
haha sounds like you've been listening to ARFOM
@@RobMarkman 1000% ...oh yeah please tell Punch we need his verse on Pi
Exactly.
And drake doesnt?
I’m from Toronto and Kendrick rapping Toronto slang caught me off guard and its fuckin hilarious 😂 😂😂 K dot all the way
Me too! Did you know that “crodie” is also drakes pet cat’s name?? 😂
hilarious
Kendrick violated him worse than what pusha did, and this is just the start. It’s about to be a surgical summer.
The "Everything they say about me is true" is audio from the movie "The Whiz" the black version of The Wizard of Oz. Richard Pryor played the Wizard, and that's what he says in the movie when he gets exposed as a phony.
Only real black folks are going to catch that, and that's the point. There's levels to this.
Yup first thing that can't to my mind
Don't forget the end of the sentence though. " I am a phony"
Lol I was like "Richard is that you" 😅
Culture vs. Commerce. I hope you coin that. It’s perfect!
I’m pretty sure someone else has said that before lol but thanks

Drake has always been a swagger jacker , from flows to riding other peoples wave , to how he dresses , nothing feels original to him , like he’s “acting a part “
He is an actor
“Back to Back, I like that record!” keeps making me laugh. Kendrick was both brutal and hilarious at the same time on this 😂
His delivery, both aggressive and sarcastic is a level above drake and cole. The way he said Pusha T had me crying
he def showed some wit, the crodie part, the part about sexyy redd, tehre were jokes on this
I’m wondering if he’s also talking about that song Nardo Wick and Future just dropped cuz Future’s throwing shit at Drake in that song and it’s called Back to Back too
@@RobMarkmanthe New Ho King mention is just chef's kiss!
@@RobMarkmanman I thought he would have better bars tbh. Crodie had you say damn he's going crazy ? Then you saying sexy redd? Didn't he say Drake gay and then he said he hates the bitches Drake fs?? Lmfao

That means a lot to me, you can watch so many other people. Thank you

Bro we needed this thank you real rap shit
I agree with your early sentiments. I have been saying this with all the antics and narratives that have been going on that This is a battle for the integrity of Hip Hop
yeah that's how it's being set-up
You the first person i seen play the beginning in reverse 🔥🔥that’s cold
yeah i had to !!!
As soon as I heard that Dot dropped, I put out the Bat Signal. Rob Markman is the hero that we all needed lol
lol
“When I see you standing next to Sexy Red I believe I see two bad bitches” 😅😅😅
Nobody’s really been addressing that and that’s one of the funniest lines in the whole record😂
The clock narrative is stupid because years from now we arent going to be talking how long it took to respond, we’ll be talking about the records
1000% agreed
Nah I remember supa ugly dropping hours after ether and was like oh shit
You made cuz Drake gonna reply fast
I think Drake understands that too he's just trying to make his opponents Nervous by getting in there head with all that shit clock
Drake started the clock situation with weekend
The “I hate the way you talk, dress, etc” K dot took that from DMX breakfast club interview about Drake lol
Lol us Dot fans have Rob, Drizzy fans have Ak… it is what it is. The unspoken truth lol

I’m a fan of both, Drake going to make an everyday hit Kendrick might out rap him but aye this is 🔥
But Rob not a clown.
@@melhayes204exactly, AK is so he got Drake
Kendrick Lamar really came out. I respect the fact that he owes the song from the drop, no leaks, he respect his art to the core I didn't even have a problem finding the song on streaming platforms.
Culture vs Commerce🎯
Dot aggression and delivery is A1. Can’t wait for this back and forth all summer. I think Kendrick takes it eventually but hopefully good music comes from it all so everybody wins
Delivery was bad lol
@@seandon9515massively disagree. His delivery and tone has shown nothing but disdain these last two records and I love it
The delivery on the sexy red bars and you don’t raise your son right had me crying. Kendrick really a funny artist 😂
Am confused to what ppl deem hard nowadays confused 😕
only winners are the fans 😂
That sounding like you about to cry because you're so mad with emotions voice sounds super weird and forced with these light jabs. I guess he saving the alien pitches 🤷
I think I speak for everyone when I say that we’ve been waiting on you to react to this. You most definitely didn’t disappoint. Your takes are always insightful, informative and balanced.

thank you, i wanted to deliver for y'all
Just by the length of this video I know it’s CURTAINS! How does BBL Drizzy even respond?! K Dot dropped a BOMB and crazy part is I don’t even think he emptied the whole clip.🤐🤝🏽🐐🔥
I was trying to not make it too long lol
Did he really drop a bomb though?? I mean it was a great song but was it a great “diss” Everything we said we’ve heard before. It’s mostly regurgitated and old. There was no bombs or mic drops. It’s just Kendrick being Kendrick. The hype is too much imo. It’s gonna take away from the haymaker he does/will have later.
@@shinobi-blkops7471like that is still better than push ups dawg don’t let that fool you
@shinobi-blkops7471 sooooo... what Drake did... but better?
Na the a BOMBS are coming! This was just a great diss but not the haymaker yet
You and 19 keys worded it correctly and broke it down the best. If your a casual your gonna look at this diss track completely differently. If your a hip hop head or fanatic you'll understand the angles kendrick presents throughout the song about the guy drake has become but also how he uses his blackness in insecure ways or too his own benefit but not when the culture needs his voice for our people enough or vaguely and how immature drake has been has a person running away from principles, morals, responsibilities and his true self as well as manhood/fatherhood.
Almost a 50 min breakdown!! Who else doing that!! The only breakdown I need!! 🔥 keep it coming!!!
i was trying to make it shorter and i still missed things lol
@@RobMarkman either way short or not I enjoyed the video🔥 I personally didn’t mind the length of the video. I prefer watching a 50 min video breakdown than a 5 min breakdown of someone who just skims through it. You did a wonderful job and don’t worry about getting all the details!! You did good man And it shows!! 🔥
Love Rob, this is great , Joe budden is about to do 3 hrs break down. Love the beef as long as it doesnt get physical.
Battle between hip hop at its core vs hip hop at its highest commercial level-absolutely. I think what Kendrick did on Euphoria was absolutely *beautiful*. It took me back to when I first discovered hip hop music..genuinely felt euphoric and elated. Great breakdown as always!
Excited when Dot dropped because I knew this would be coming 🔥
Thank you!!
We gotta get rob to 100k this year
that'll be nuts. i gotta keep putting that work in
🗣Facts
I think that Kendrick says he hates Drake because of the way he moves and what he stands for. He said Drake is fake, a liar and uses the culture for personal gain but doesn't respect its artform. He even went further to say that he likes Drake with melody but not when he acts tough (fake). And that cuts deep cuz it's kinda true
It’s very true - Drake profits off the culture like a parody, he has some good songs, but K cooked him well done
I been waiting for Rob all day. I searched Mark Robman too many times though 😂
That’s crazy
This a fact my boy lol @christopherholmes559

love your videos man, been watching you since you did your interview with Kendrick for TPAB. When you said this is Kendrick’s Villain era, my eyes lit up cause I thought the SAME exact same thing. How ever it plays out, we will see the beast at his highest level
I can’t wait to see how it all plays out
Soooo happy you made a video, technically your opinion matters the most lol. Your interview with Dot some years ago was one of the best interviews I think us Dot fans have ever had the pleasure of seeing. You’re a legend. 👏
1. Rob really did introduce the discussion of angles. Don’t believe heavy hitters in the game don’t have influence in real time.
2. I disagree that dropping two disses in a week, using AI, whoop de whoop is normal for 2024 and isn’t paranoid, knowing you’ll need everything you have to beat Kendrick when your lyrical ability isn’t at Kendrick’s level.
3. Drake definitely put Yeat and Bad Bunny on his newest album 😂 ain’t no FUBU about him fam.
4. “Chipped by your throwaway”, I think, referred to “don’t tell a lie on me - I won’t tell the truth bout you” which was on the heart iv. Entredres are layering heavy.
5. “I didn’t point down enough” means ‘I fired a warning shot but should have ended you then and there.’
6. You talk about speculation regarding FPS and the CnD… imagine if the Like That verse was what Kendrick submitted for the album? No wonder, Drake didn’t want to get Control’d! lmfao.
7. And this is a question for Rob, When Kendrick said “they confuse themselves with real women” what’s the odds he’s getting at the underaged rumors?
8. “Only you like being famous” is definitely prevalent in the culture. “F-- the fame I just want the money” is all over the place in the culture, no doubt.
9. On Wick Man, Drake almost 100% said he was too good to be black. Fym “much to their dismay I’m leveling up”??? It sounds like you’re saying I’m beyond needing to be black anymore! He forewent his ability to claim black and proud. Which is I think the difference between Drake and J Cole or anyone else who embraces the culture instead of tries to put it down and distance themselves from it.
10. The sexy red bar is funny asl. Remember “back in high school I used to buss it to the dance”? 😂😂
11. 1v20 line was all time hard asf tho can’t lie.
12. I think the sixth sense AI thing was a “you connected the dots, didn’t you?” type deal lmao
13. Rob, keep this up bruh, it’s needed for the game. Agreed that Drake needs to come back and essentially ask Kendrick to come back with the things he alluded to, or otherwise will ignore it and rely on his pop fanbase. Drake has nothing else to expose, so we’ll see this come to a Kendrick win over time.
7 - i didnt read that at first, but i dont think so because if it was about underage girls, i dont know that he wouldve referred to them as bitches and express hate for the girls. But that's just my best guess
@@RobMarkmanagreed it's a bit of a key down to hear Kendrick talking like that honestly
You literally admitted drake was defeated as soon as you said he's not on his level lyrically. That's literally what rapping is. So by admitting it's ok to use AI because he's not on Kendricks level is already saying he can't beat Kendrick one on one. He needs tools, writers, and overall a fabricated story to even make an attempt at coming at Kendrick.
I'd also like to point out, that both times Kendrick dropped a diss, the world tuned in. Only reason people are listening to the drops by drake is because he is mentioning Kendrick. Push ups ain't gonna last a month longer without people realizing all he says is kindergarten insults... Shoe size? Great way to hate on all your fans who have a size 7 shoe...please...
@@xohnoezxgaming1402 agreed.
The whole Parkinson section is possibly aimed at J Prince Jr
Kendrick bar on Joel Osteen and Haley Joel Osment was a play on words intentionally one deals with A.I./ghost theme and the other Joel Osteen is a pastor who’s church was involved in a sexual abuse scandal. Euphoria is a concept of the tv show and Drake Executive Producer but alluding to the sexual assault on younger women. He says “Joel” but his diction pronounce with a hard “H” “Haley” name in the middle and Osteen to set up the Multi entendre punchline 6th sense/ 6th sense & Off him/Osteen
interesting. Lemme sit with this information. I appreciate you helping to shed light
Kendrick with the multiverse entendre on that one🔥🔥🔥🔥
"You better comeback with a quadruple entendre " 😮 LMAO
No, he made a mistake. Everyone’s scrambling to make it make sense but he just got the names mixed up.
@@Tre24466that's not lyricism. Nothing about this was lyrical. Very logic style, very elementary.
I thank Pulitzer Prize winner, Kendrick Lamar for bring real rap back to the forefront of the mainstream. This is not a disrespect to the current acts. It’s just nice for a moment to see someone who respects the craft at this caliber balance that commercial/commerce act. All I hope is that this galvanizes Drake to dig deep and give us a proper rebuttal.
J. Cole has been doing this better than anyone this decade. But since Cole stepped out of the beef due to being genuine friends with Kendrick, people are clowning him and downplaying his achievements. In terms of bars and flows, nobody has touched Cole this decade.

I still listen to Taylor Allderdice, and because of that album, you're voice was part of my childhood/youth. So glad that you are still active. I hope you see this message, love from Brazil!!
This is another example of what happened at with Lox vs Dipset. What part of the art form do you really respect? Yes both mean something. But what is actually elevating? We the fans are left to decide.
word
The Hayley Joel thing might have been a double with the preacher. Alotta folks say that he's a fake preacher and he has a huge following and then obviously the actor was in sith sense an a I
Drake being cool with AK and SexyRedd says a lot about him. It's all an act. An insult. He's basically the Ali G/Borat of Rap, but we too slow to see that.
Dope shit Rob. Just wanna point out one thing you may have missed. The hook (I hate the way that you walk the way that you talk) is a call back to that dmx breakfast club interview when dmx said he hated it. There’s an old Kendrick interview of Kendrick saying the whole TDE was watching that interview cracking up on tour.
This is why I love this channel. Minimum bias, the OutKast 30th Anniversary review, the comic book episode… it’s up.

I love your breakdowns. But I will say this on drakes blackness….you are what you are raised as. He was raised by a white Jewish woman… had a bar mitzvah( spelling no disrespect, Siri ) etc, gave an interview saying he a proud Jew and that some powerful people from his community has already been in touch with him (this is early Drake) HE AINT BLACK. He plays black.

Kendrick is authentic in himself and Drake seems confused about his identity, from the outside looking in. He’s lost in his celebrity and the dollars. Kendrick will drag drake to the deepest darkest oceans and I don’t think drake has the capacity or depth to survive.
Whereas in Jay vs Nas I believe Jay was true to himself even tho he was more commercially successful. There was no identity crisis. Which is where I feel drake will truly fall.
Great analysis and pretty much sums up the war. You can’t beat authenticity

Good analysis. Reminds me of a well thought-out Twitter thread. good to see you back sharing analysis. journalistic roots all in play here!
theres a serious Pedo angle that Kendrick is planting the seed in this too lol. with the title of the song, the pacifier line talking about how he'll spare him with a random act of kindness. maybe a response to drake trying to get ahead of him being with younger girls. idk Drake gotta tread lightly if theres really some dirt on him about this.
Yea but forget the beef if drakes like that just expose it so he can be locked up with diddy
Thats a terrible angle to take if he doesnt have hard evidence, thats not something to play with and will make Kendrick look corny for putting those allegations on someone with no proof. He cant build his next diss around something so serious with no real evidence
@@EmmanuelGennings85 he doesn’t need proof it’s already out there dude
👍🏽 pacifier also a reference to a substitute for the real thing i.e the breast for babies - so he calling him fake again, and if you follow that through he (Drake the pacifier) provides no real nourishment.
Hey Mark. The bar “got a Ben and a Jackson in his house like I’m Joe ok” Kdot was not only saying he has money in the crib like drake but it was a double entendre, he’s also referencing Ben, Michael Jackson’s pet mouse. Additionally, noticed the line about aiming a Drake (gun). He said he had to aim it down to hit his target. Replying to Drake saying he had to hike down to get at Kendrick. Still watching the videos so I may have more comments later lol. Keep up the great work bro.
Oh yeah, in the beginning of the song when he says, “I make music that electrify them, you make music that pacify (pacifier) them, I can double down on that line but spare you this time, that’s a random act of kindness.” That’s a shot a drake liking kids.
