Yes. I start talking about it at 8:04 . Short version, you read the 24 hand on the bezel. So if the bezel is at lined up, its synced to your time zone. So you rotate the bezel forward or backward, depending on how many hours deference you want it to be. It's low tech. But it's how the original Gmt watches operated, including the original Rolex GMT master. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful watch and who could complain about a 200m GMT for less than $100? You dont buy a Vostok for accuracy, you buy it because no one you know has one and its cool. Great video!
My nephew sent me a Komandirskie from Australia to the UK. He said you need one of these. I was amazed at both the accuracy and power reserve. Cool video and very dry humour. My inner 13 year old loves it. I laughed at that. I've got the scuba dude Amphibia now with a kind of turquoise/teal dial and Pepsi bezel. The GMT arrived today with a brushed 24 hour bezel. I love them. Built like T34 tanks.
It looks like a fine watch. I have seen watchmakers review and praise these watches for their affordability and durability. I also believe they have long term desirability so if you take care of the watch they will have residual value if you ever want to sell it. I have an Amphibia now and really enjoy it.
I’ve bought this watch a week ago. It came with the bezel from the Meranom photo, which is actually a bit bigger thus easier to operate. And, to be honest, makes the watch look cooler. The accuracy is pretty decent - plus 12.2 seconds per day. I know that a good watch repairer can easily regulate it to stay almost within chronometer standards. I’ve put the watch on Hirsch George leather&caoutchouc strap, which costs almost twice more than the watch itself. But with this strap Komandirskie GMT look way more premium than on a nato strap. So I’m very happy with my fifth Vostok in the 21 watch collection.
Love those two Vostok's I have 4 Vostok's between Komandirksie and Amphia's, I love that you can calibrate the movement and make timing near perfect like a swiss watch! Thank you for sharing! Thanks for sharing!
Just ordered from Meranon same piece plus 2 Zulu Straps - thanks for the infectious review and introduction to Meranon - great people - rare breed nowadays
Web site is efficient - easy to navigate - discounts are auto - prices including shipping are cheaper - based in Vostok's home city - tested them with a WhatsApp message - got an immediate response - what else do you want - yes - will buy again - perhaps an Amphibia - after receiving the Komandirskie
Thanks! I tend to talk fast, so I try to keep myself at a slower pace when I record the audio. I like to think I've gotten better as I've been doing these. I re watched one of my first videos the other day, and I was surprised at how fast I was talking.
Most reviewers rush - it frustrates the interested viewer who cannot follow and they lose them - I am seriously looking at this watch for my collection - thanks again - best wishes
Love the case shape (I'm a Seiko Turtle wearer) , the stylish sloping bezel, uncluttered dial & personally the lack of day/date is a huge plus too. I'd rather not have the GMT hand, but guess I could live with it....yup, its on my wishlist . Good concise review, with top quality camera work & editing. Cheers 👍👍
Thank you for this great review. I was about to pull the trigger on a Vostok Amphibia, but this convinced me to go with another Komandirskie, albeit a major step up from my classic hand-wound 431241 model. I was went with Meranom: nice, easy-to-navigate site and, while you can get pretty much all of their watches for a few bucks cheaper from dealers on ebay, that small bit of extra money is, I would say, worth it to get the security of buying from a respected and well-established company. Looking forward to receiving this!
Meranom is the way to go. I ordered one off ebay from a random seller (but had a good rep) 4 months ago. Still haven't received it, he actually shipped a replacement (so he says) to me after 2 months. At this point I've given up. Meanwhile I ordered from Meranom and had it within 3 weeks. instagram.com/p/Bzi9nsXHJsH/ instagram.com/p/Bzi94K7H5Nh/
I certainly did not need another watch, but I’ve been wanting an easy to read GMT besides my Luminox Recon, and preferably one with an automatic winding movement. As we all know $18,000 will buy a gorgeous Rolex GMT Master which has it all, but I am too old to re-fi my house to finance a wristwatch purchase. I also have a high end G-Shock dual time zone watch, but it takes almost as much time to read it as it takes to set. In a nut shell, that set of requirements makes the Vostok 650539 possibly unique. I’ve ordered this great looking Auto GMT watch with WR 200M, etc, etc. thanks for the tip.
Very true. Affordable automatic GMTs are hard to find. I think you can get a Glycine Airman for around $550, and Boldr's new Globetrotter is about $800. Hope you enjoy the Vostok when you get it.
Got hooked on Vostoks recently, started with a cheaper Komandirskie, which i gave to a friend who kept admiring it. Switched to a Amphibia 710, and have my eyes on a 420, but I'd be interested in this. Sometimes the range of models on Meranom can be overwhelming...
There is also an amphibian version in the neptune case. I recently ordered one, kind of eager to see the differences. meranom.com/en/amphibian-classic/960/vostok-watch-amphibian-classic-960762.html
Wonderful reviews! I ordered 3 Vostoks in a row after watching your reviews ,a paratrooper Komandirskie , an Amphibia and an Amfibia Reef 020845. Got the Amphibia and having fun with it and waiting for the rest. Hope you will do a review on the Amfibia Reef. Thanks again.
Sorry for the late reply. Reef might be in the future, but I recently got 2 others that I have to get through first. instagram.com/p/Bzi9nsXHJsH/ instagram.com/p/Bzi94K7H5Nh/
I went to the Meramon website and this was out of stock. I did buy a 650546 24hr watch very similar. It has a tank which I think is really cool. I also bought a strap since they don't charge more for shipping. It shipped the same day I ordered it and they gave me a tracking number and should be in South Carolina in a few weeks. This will be my third Komandirski, but more like a Amphibian inho. I am a big fan of your channel and a bigger fan of these watches you introduced me too. Since I am a very laid back guy, the quirky character is appealing
Thanks for the (like always) well-detailed and presented review. I love the Vostok Amphibia watches, but until seeing this one I have avoided the Komandierskie line. Your review sold me--it seems more Amphibia-like, the bezel being a bit different is a plus, I really like the small seconds dial and how can you argue with a sub-$100 GMT? Just ordered mine and I'm looking forward to seeing it live and in action. Keep up the good work!
Thanks and your welcome. Most of the regular mechanical Komandierskies are very different. I'll have a review of one of those soon. But Vostok is trying to expand out their line, and some of the newer original designs are kind of interesting. Like the other gmt with the fully lumed dial and internal bezel I had early in the video. AS well as the Amphibia... kind of got a vintage super compressor thing going on. meranom.com/en/amfibia/scuba/vostok-watch-amphibia-scuba-2416-070799.html
Yeah it's one of those Komandirski thats really a re badged Amphibia .I've just bought the Amiibia 170863 GMT and is a real beauty but you pay for it .
Hope you like it. After doing my recent Glycine Airman video I remembered how unique the Komandirskie GMT is. Most "true GMTs" start at $500 on up. Where this is pretty affordable and robust. Great for some adventurous journeys.
Great review Shane. I was going to stop at two Vostoks, this one is now my third and the 24 hour clock one is likely to be my fourth. I put a shark mesh Vostok bracelet on it and it looks really good. I was going to change the bezel but won't because I like the brushed steel 24 hour one. I can't add anything really to your review. It's a great watch and worth having. And it was Jody's fault that I bought it......
Dammit, this almost became my 6th Vostok. No! NO! RESISTING....I'm just looking....well...I'm not buying but.....I'll.put it in the cart...for now.... ....broke away from Meranom page......don't need another watch.....getting crazy... SOMEONE ANYONE - HELp.......m'Eeeee.........
A week ago if you told me Vostok was a Russian Vodka I would say "oh okay". Somehow this is worse than crack cocaine cuz Ive somehow ordered two, then two more and then one last night. Meranom gonna have to send me to Rehab😀😀😀. Damn these are unique little jewels. I bought a ss/gold Submariner while in Germany quarter century ago. It was very nice, but these float my boat just as much😀😀😀. Peace out
@@RelativeTime Yeah, I did it, damnit. It's on it's way from Meranom As they say in those cop/buddy movies, "I'm gettin too old for this shit"! My last watch I swear....in under a month I'll be 73.
Please let me know when you are done with it, I love that dial, and the sub seconds. I have family in the UK and the GMT feature is handy. I'd be glad to buy it!
love it, so unique even among vostoks lineup! i just got into horology after having had gshocks my adult life and picked up a seiko snk807 as my first step into automatics. watching your videos makes me think an amphibia may be my next, or a komandirskie for the shear odd factor! keep up the great work mate, much appreciation from australia.
Thanks a bunch. Really appreciate it. Been talking about visiting Australia for years. One of these days I'll get down there, but that long plane ride might make me mad. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video, I will order this model. I like the idea of the bezel being sloped and harder to knock out of line and also the GMT addition. I have the 650546 arrving in a few days, this will be my first Vostok and I am wrapped.
I ordered mine with the K34 black leather / red stich / deploy clasp and amphib' big glass case back factory fitted as well as the mesh bacelet and amphib' blue bezel for my 650546. What great pricing and the customer service has been fantastic.
I have an identical model & have to say its impressive for the money. I have swapped the bezel for a coin edge with a 'coke' 24hr insert with lume. The regulation with my watch is very good too !! Maybe +5 seconds a day. My only criticism is my bracelet has a double deployment clasp instead of a folding clasp like yours. A little extra adjustment would of been nice. In my opinion its git to be the best value gmt out there
I have a Vostok Kommanndierski similar to this one --200mm water resistance, same case--but a 24 hour dial. I must have unusually fortunate considering their accuracy tolerance because mine is accurate to within 1 min per day out of the .
Thanks. I have been looking at the Komandirskie GMT with the internal bezel but this one looks like it might be a fun addition as well. Considering it is less than half the price.
For the price it's pretty hard to beat. Not sure how shipping is from Russia or Meranom right now. There are a few I've been thinking about ordering, but worried it might take a few months to get here.
came across a second hand deal on this watch and just wanted to see if there is anything on youtube on it and found this channel and WOOW...amazing quality videos, so well explained, amazing watch shots, different straps etc...easily became my favourite watch channel. I bought the watch btw and i love it
Thanks for the great review! Important detail to be aware of that the gmt hand is slaved to the hour hand, otherwise big after purchase surprise. Anyway, like you pointed, nothing the rotating bezel cannot fix in a very clever and simple way. Might order this piece!
Thanks. Thats one of the reasons I ordered this original. Not much info on it, and everything on meranom was in Russian. So I decided to be the guinea pig.
Great review, mine is on its way from Russia as I type this. Very much looking forward to receiving this piece, oh and I treated myself to a g shock today also, starting to think I'm developing a bit of a watch problem (as well as a guitar problem)
Great Review - just put another Vostok on my desired list! You mentioned the Movement was newer (from 2014?) - The question I have is - Is the movement hackable? Sorry if I missed this, love the channel :)
Thank you, I enjoying making the videos as much as the watches This one doesn't hack. You can see this around 14:10 when I'm changing the time. The second hand is still moving in the sub dial.
the 25$ Bagelsport Explorer II Homage used to work exactly like this. Unlike the Rolex GMT, the GMT hand could not be set independentally ( like this Vostok ). You cannot find it at that price nowadays however, and this Vostok is definitely a better watch anyway. I do own Alpha's and Parnis. They have killer looks in general and built well externally, but their movements are very fragile in my opinion. This Vostok looks like a nice addition to any collection. Nice Review
Excellent review. I actually like the less flamboyant face on this model, as well as the oddly positioned sub-dial. But man, those dimensions. Anything over 40mm tends to look huge on me. This thing would looking like I was sporting a hubcap on my wrist.
Thanks! It defiantly looks big, but luckily it doesn't wear big. The one Seiko Recraft I reviewed months ago, or the Bulova Precisionist I did. Those felt like I had a shield strapped to my wrist.
Received it just now, and my, what a beauty! I can now further appreciate the depth, and high quality of your reviews. Since what all you noted as slight concerns - were readily obvious. Such as the sharp dial edge. That will probably cut me some day. To the industrial-build kind of sharpness of lug edges. The Strap quality, to the dial beauty. I noted and loved all the points! Thanks for being such a great reviewer! Hope you reach a million subscribers some day in the near future! This is the best Komandirskie to buy below 100$ in my opinion.
I just today recived my Vostock GMT. Due to my FUBAR vision I cannot see the GMT hand at all. the Dial is easier to read then my other Vostock diverso that is a win and I do like the bezel. I see the 'cheapness' of the braclet, which I find nice. the clasp though feals really cheap, like Kmart cheap. also the rotar is not as noisy on this one.
Nice, I haven't seen that one. Their are a few other GMT hand ones now. 960762 and 960761PU . Although they come on a Neptune style case, which makes changing straps a little harder.
@@RelativeTime the whole watch, but I have some doubts about lug gap, which is between watch and bracelet. It will turn to be my main concern I think 🤔
@@acyphium I don't have it anymore, otherwise, I'd measure it for you. I remember being a little larger. You can see that on a few of the shots. WIth a Nato, shouldn't be a problem. 2 Piece, it looks a little big.
Good review, I've been eyeing that one do to GMT feature.I have a Amphibian ScubaDude.I stuck on the Radio Room's right now, have the white face and now I have to have the black face, really love the profile of the watch. No complaints, need to get a few NATO straps.🍻
First; excellent presentation! Well thought-out and well-delivered. I've owned an Amphibia and two Komandirskies, and all were damn good watches. I'm always on the prowl for something different in a Vostok, and this just could satisfy my present desire.
Thanks! I'm also currently working on a review of the Amfibia (with an f) Scuba. Should be done next week. But there are a quite a few good vostoks that are not as well known.
Vostock has such loose tolerances but that's by design. You can get dirt and grime inside of the movement and it should still run just fine and stay within margin. As long as you keep synchronizing the time every few days you'll be good.
Yep, it's on my wish list now it maybe my second Russian watch, but I just got my first one yesterday! 420831 with the submarine on the dial! Thank you for the info, good video!
Thanks for the great review. Added to my collection of Vostoks. I want to change out the bezel though. Looked on the am-watches website and they offer several GMT bezels in red/silver, red/gold and red/black but this 650 case is not listed in these fittings. Would you know where/if any alternative custom bezels with GMT inserts are out there in the marketplace. Cheers from a new Vostok convert
Thanks. If you check out ebay and look for Vostok Bezels, you will find a lot of options. Most of the ones you find will be missing the insert, but will be made to use a Seiko SKX insert. So you can always get one of those, and then look at the many different SXK inserts that are available. Cheers!
Relative Time Thank you for those details. Thanks to your channel I've just purchased 5 new Vostoks this week to add to my 40+ collection. Looking forward to modding and searching the net for custom parts. Cheers Dave
Very nice. Should be fun. If you get a chance check out the Vostokaholics channel ruclips.net/channel/UCinat-mh1TFHoYYxmlvYGzQfeatured He hasn't posted in a while, but he had some cool mods.
Hello! And Thanks for the review. I agree with you: It's weird they called it Komandirskie since it has all the technical specs of an Amphibia. I have a Mod question: do you think the movement and the dial can fit the 100, 110 or 420* Amphibia case? Since the Vostok are like the Seiko's SKX as for Modding community, I would like to create a "Komanphibia" as my first Frankenstein watch. (* WARNING: The 420 model should not be modified: when "it's 4:20" you can't be accurate enough for horology 🤪)
Thanks! I think it will fit 100, but I don't think it will 110 or 420. Not entirely sure. Best person to ask would be they guy who runs meranom, I think his name is Dimitry. If you look on the reviews of it on meranom, a few have asked if the movement will fit in another case. I did see it mention that it will fit 100. meranom.com/en/komandirskie-classic/vostok-watch-komandirskie-650539.html And as well in the movement it self. meranom.com/en/amphibian-classic/spare-parts/vostok-watch-2426-movement-no-date.html But again, might be better off emailing him directly, as half the comments are in cyrillic. Cheers and thanks again!
Thank you so much for the detailed answer. Yes I know meranom and the cyrillic comments!😀 It should be great and useful to get in contact with him and create a video where is explained what parts are compatible with different cases. I ended up there to buy some spare part and i discovered for example that 120 and 420 have just few parts that fit on them compared with the other models (90, 100, 110, 470, 710). 100 seems to be the most common base for modding. I'm going to write him and I'll update here some news for all your interested followers. The "insane and scandalous" prices* the Vostoks have, are pushing me to buy toons of parts and "play&learn" with them. I've just started and I have to wait more than a month to receive the goods i bought. I cannot wait. Have a great day! * compared to my Pasha wrist band (more than 400 Euros only for the leather) and my Speedmaster's Service (145.012 cal 321) : they asked me 2000 Euros (yes two grands!!) because it's a collector's piece. I told them I already own my watches!!! 🤣 I cannot imagine the prices for the service of some other nice piece I own since a while. Is someone here interested in one of my kidneys or my liver?!?! 🤭
Thank you, my friend, for referring to my channel. You are the best! I had my eye on this Vostok GMT for a while and watching your review helped me a lot to see all those details and specifics one would like to see and know before purchasing it. And finally - if you decide to get rid of it, please let me know. If I don't buy one by that time, I may be willing to buy yours. Cheers.
Your welcome, and thanks for making a good instructional video. Hopefully you get some traffic. I don't think I'll keep it, partially because I keep looking at the other two I showed in the video. But I'll decide over the next two weeks, and let you know.
Most of the Chinese watches I've seen have been homages. So I'm not sure that's a fair comparison. Those seem to be more about the look then anything else. Although they all seem to be missing something. But I've been looking at a few sea-gulls that I think are original designs. Which might be a fairir comparison.
I enjoyed your video. After watching many testimonials about the overall greatness of the Vostok watched I purchased my first Vostok and first mechanical watch . After three months I looked at my watch one morning and noticed the crystal was gone . I’ve tried everywhere to find a replacement with no luck . I don’t know how to go about ordering it , like what size and type . I did order one and it finally came but the wrong size . It seems I’ve entered an underworld of a brick wall . Whenever I reach out and try for help all I get is people loving my comment but no help . Sorry about the rant but I’m actually sad because it is the b my favorite watch I’ve ever had . It’s a 2021 Komandirski 350749
My suggestion is to check with meranom. They used to be the premiere vostock dealer before the war. But more importantly Dimitry is very knowledgeable. On the website it also used to show a lot of the specs for the various models. So start there, then try to email him after. Hopefully that helps.
Some basic tools, steady hands and patience. Here a basic video on how. ruclips.net/video/vHnIwDLmLcE/видео.html The real way to do it, is with a Time grapher. So you can instantly tell what it's running at. I just adjust it, then wait a few days to see it's performance. Then adjust as necessary.
Thank you. I actually ordered a white 24 hour one. But never showed up. Guess it decided to stay in Russia. I ordered from a random eBay seller. Next time I'll have to order through meranom.
Problem seems to be the main spring according to a watch maker I've used. Ordered a new auto 24xx barrel complete. Debating putting it in myself. I figure if I can take apart a seiko sportsmatic day date mechanism and put it back together I guess I can do this repair.
@@RelativeTime barrel swap was successful. Was tricky though because if you only remove the bridge that holds the barrel you have to fit a piece of the bridge holding a jewel between two gears. The spring on the bottom of the barrel bridge is also a pian to get back in of it comes out. Highly recommend to mess with that spring in a ziplock bag with a toothpick so it won't fly across the room.
Hello there ! Very nice , impressive and factual review. I own a Komandirskye and a certain number of Amphibia and Poljot 2612.1. But this one is quite impressive. I usually work in difficult environments and use several time zones. Sometimes several watches at the same time at the office. The basic GMT system is efficient and elegant because it is so simple. But I think it's the main characteristic of a Vostok ... I'm sure you will agree ! Thank you for the precious information and I order now this new watch for me. Another One.
That Amphibia with the Pepsi dial and syringe hands? I’m going to need that ASAP. And that Scuba Dude on the orange striped nato looks amazing. As for thee watch on review...not my fave, though I definitely prefer the additional (original) bezel supplied. Another great video.
Thanks. That amphibia also has a darker dialed friend, plus lume on the arabic numerals. Only thing I don't like is it's lugs. Or lack of lugs. Might make changing straps tricky. Although I have to stop looking at it, I already have a backlog of watches for to look at. Thanks again! Cheers! 😎 meranom.com/en/amphibian-classic/vostok-watch-amphibian-classic-960761.html
I cannot agree more with you. Rolex GMT Master works exactly the same way and this is what should be consider a pure GMT. Period. I have a Boctok Amphibian Classic 960761-22 with white dial (therefore the third one you shown in this video) and works the same way your 650539 but my Boctok has a day complication between 4 and 5 o'clock marks. Caliber 2426.02 to be specific. Youbget one by paying around 105 to 109 dollars but like your GMT is a bang for your buck deal. I like your Boctok GMT as well. A GMT below 100 bucks automatic and manual winding is excellent deal and an amazing horological experience that can enrich your horological journey! Great video, great content!
I actually sold this one, although I partly regret it. Although I just got a 960762, review should be in the next 2 months. I'm planing to use it for my 10k sub giveaway. Also picked up a SE 420B06S . meranom.com/en/amphibian-se/vostok-watch-amphibian-se-420b06s.html It's a 24 hour dial, so if one swaps the bezel to a 24 hour bezel you almost have a budget Glycine Airman.
Relative Time very much i do. thanks. mine is having a flat brushed bezel you also showed in your video. actually bought it for modding months ago but then found its so nice that i could hardly make any change. only critic i have (in addition to the bracelet of course) is the seconds sub-dial being not as prominent as i wanted. a circle around it to separate clearly from the dial would make a huge difference. i only threw it on a black nato from a Marathon, it turned right away into a very very cool military watch - with a GMT feature and costing only 70$. A ton of value here. It tops the list of Vostok i would suggest to anyone
@@RelativeTime See www.vostok-watches24.com GMT Bezel with city names with black insert for VOSTOK KOMANDIRSKIE watches, stainless steel Item no.: LÜ-INS-17 can be used for all cases. In Black or white color insert .
Well done review. Have you any idea of the specific interpretation of the Chevron insignia. I'm assuming it represents a military rank but can't seem to find any info .
That would be my assumption as well. They are on all the Komandirskie automatics, so I think its representing that brand. But I was looking as well, and didnt see anything that currently matches that. Closest I found was this from wwii en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranks_and_insignia_of_the_Red_Army_and_Navy_1940%E2%80%931943 closest is the general, but still not exact. Could just be made up to represent any officer or Commander. Cheers!
I will tell you what i think! I think there is no Bostok that i don't like! I like them all. I also have a Vostok Europe energia II. Ok not the same as Bostok but also impressive.
The Komandirskies have quire a range of rated water resistance; 20 to 200 m. Makes me think that maybe the lower end really has better water resistance than stated.
Maybe. the regular $30 komandirskies are rated to 20m. which seems a little low for something with a screw down crown. But the case of it, and my amphibia are very different. Amphibia definitely looks tougher in every way. I even think the domed crystal is bigger.
Its a cheap one I got off ebay. It looks better then it is. But for $5 I can't complain too much. www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Vintage-Style-Distressed-Leather-Mens-Watch-Band-Strap-with-Stitching/323139719548?hash=item4b3ca0d17c:rk:1:pf:0&var
I'm not sure. My suggestion is to email demitry at meranom ( info@meranom.com ). He has connections at the factory. So perhaps he can get you one special order.
Can you tell the time in two different time zones ??? Even though the 24 hr hand cannot be set separately ?
Thanks for watching!
i realize I am kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Reese Larry i use FlixZone. You can find it by googling =)
@Sonny Henry yea, I've been using FlixZone for years myself :D
@Sonny Henry Thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it!
Beautiful watch and who could complain about a 200m GMT for less than $100? You dont buy a Vostok for accuracy, you buy it because no one you know has one and its cool. Great video!
Thanks! That may be the best reason I’ve heard to buy a Vostok. 👍👍
Won't believe it. After third time regulating my Amphibia +3 sec/ month!

It's nice to see someone who knows what a proper Bond strap is!
Now that I have 4 Seiko's, it's time to look at something else. Found it! Vostok!
Love those two Vostok's I have 4 Vostok's between Komandirksie and Amphia's, I love that you can calibrate the movement and make timing near perfect like a swiss watch! Thank you for sharing! Thanks for sharing!
I HAD to obtain one of these! Very pleased I did.
You can also remove scratch with 0.5 or 1 micron diamond paste. It's pretty effective. Append to have some in my knife sharpening and honing kit...

Thanks for a great informative review - pace of presentation is easy to follow and not rushed
Yours was the only channel that showed how Vostok's GMT work. Thanks for the video !
Some times they just assume everyone already knows how this stuff works. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Cheers 👍👍
Thanks! Although I'm thinking this one got a little long. One of these days I got to get a Turtle to try it out for myself. Cheers!😎
There is the same model without GMT funktion- only it has a central second no subdial

They kinda have singular charme. I own one. An Amphibia. If you got used to it it can be fascinating and fun.
Great review. This watch will be my next acquisition. I like the 20mm lug width, that makes the watch look more vintage.

Yeah it's one of those Komandirski thats really a re badged Amphibia .I've just bought the Amiibia 170863 GMT and is a real beauty but you pay for it .
Just bought one this evening based on your Review.
Thanks from South Africa.
Thanks. I bet that looks great on a shark mesh. Sometimes these can be hard to find, so I'm glad you got one.
Come to the dark side.... we have cookies. 😎
I'm on my 4th...Darkside I'm in. All in!
@regalblue41 lol
It's on it's way from Meranom
As they say in those cop/buddy movies, "I'm gettin too old for this shit"!
My last watch I swear....in under a month I'll be 73.
Please let me know when you are done with it, I love that dial, and the sub seconds. I have family in the UK and the GMT feature is handy. I'd be glad to buy it!
Thanks for asking, but your about a year late. Sold it to someone else, but I've gotten a few other vostoks since.
@@RelativeTime Thanks for letting me know! Love your channel!
No date is a plus in this case
I normally prefer a date. But I think your right. On this one I think it would clutter the dial a little bit too much as well.
I am a watch freak. I know the value of Vostok watches among others and really love the way you conducted your review. keep up the good work! Great!
Thanks. I appreciate it. Takes time getting all the different angles and straps, but I have fun doing it.
My favorite line from Red October! “ One ping only.”
love it, so unique even among vostoks lineup! i just got into horology after having had gshocks my adult life and picked up a seiko snk807 as my first step into automatics. watching your videos makes me think an amphibia may be my next, or a komandirskie for the shear odd factor! keep up the great work mate, much appreciation from australia.
I have my eyes on the Neptune. Still waiting for my Amfibia Scuba. The Neptune will most definitely be my next Vostok.
The Neptune GMT I'd awesome. Just wish it had a standard lugs instead of the integrated braclet.
In my opinion its git to be the best value gmt out there
On any 24 hour movement..
When the hour hand is pointed at the sun...the top points TRUE NORTH .
I bought the watch btw and i love it
Thank you and welcome. It's a bit of work, but I enjoy it. 😎
Well watches are much smaller, and easier to store. At least thats what I tell myself...
Nice Review
Thanks! I'm not sure what movement Parnis uses in their GMT, but typically these Vostoks are built like tanks.
I recently bought another Komandirskie in titanium nitride finish for 42 bucks..I wish I'd seen this one for 36 bucks more what a deal you got.
Yah.. this one seems to have flown under the radar of a lot of people. I was surprised there wasn't more info on it already.
Great review on an overlooked beauty. I'm a bigger armed guy and have wanted a larger volstok, thanks
Excellent review. I actually like the less flamboyant face on this model, as well as the oddly positioned sub-dial. But man, those dimensions. Anything over 40mm tends to look huge on me. This thing would looking like I was sporting a hubcap on my wrist.
Alan Smithee - and I got a good laugh out of your screen name :)
Thanks! It defiantly looks big, but luckily it doesn't wear big. The one Seiko Recraft I reviewed months ago, or the Bulova Precisionist I did. Those felt like I had a shield strapped to my wrist.
This is the 4th time i'm watching this video. I've pulled the trigger on the purchase, and i'm excited to receive it eventually. Thanks!
Awesome. I hope you will like it. But now the hard part of waiting a month to get it. Cheers!
Your welcome. I'm glad I was able to help. Enjoy It!👍
I just today recived my Vostock GMT. Due to my FUBAR vision I cannot see the GMT hand at all. the Dial is easier to read then my other Vostock diverso that is a win and I do like the bezel. I see the 'cheapness' of the braclet, which I find nice. the clasp though feals really cheap, like Kmart cheap. also the rotar is not as noisy on this one.
l like the seperate second hand and GMT hand, but do not like the black dial. So l ordered the 650856 with the green dial from Meranom.
Nice, I haven't seen that one. Their are a few other GMT hand ones now. 960762 and 960761PU . Although they come on a Neptune style case, which makes changing straps a little harder.
Just received mine in Nigeria yesterday. Vostok going places👍👍A watch vendor at first glance valued it at $500 haha
I love your documentary type watch reviews. Very fun and informative. BTW I have just ordered this case today, hope I will take it on my hand soon.
Just the case? Or the entire watch? Either way, it's a great piece.
@@RelativeTime thank you very much. I appreciate your work also. You are doing a great job with your watch reviews.
Good review, I've been eyeing that one do to GMT feature.I have a Amphibian ScubaDude.I stuck on the Radio Room's right now, have the white face and now I have to have the black face, really love the profile of the watch. No complaints, need to get a few NATO straps.🍻
I listen to the audio from this video whenever I need help getting to sleep.
Should I make an ASMR channel?
I ordered two for some mod action. I can't wait to get started, but still waiting for out of stock items to finish them off.
What are you planing on doing?
@@RelativeTime I'm making one dedicated retro red scuba dude diver and the other a more classy gmt.
Yes; I have also considered the Vostok Partner.
Excellent video 😀.. is this movement shock resistant...as they specify in 2416b?
It's as shock proof as any other modern (made within the last half century or so) Vostok or Rolex tool watch.
Hi, Great review! My 650539 w/ active wrist movement gains about 1 min in 2 days good enough for this old man!
Vostock has such loose tolerances but that's by design. You can get dirt and grime inside of the movement and it should still run just fine and stay within margin. As long as you keep synchronizing the time every few days you'll be good.
This is true. Robustness is part of their charm.
Yep, it's on my wish list now it maybe my second Russian watch, but I just got my first one yesterday! 420831 with the submarine on the dial! Thank you for the info, good video!
Your Welcome. Enjoy your Amphibia. Mines a 420 case as well, and I've really fallen for it.
If you get a chance check out the Vostokaholics channel

He hasn't posted in a while, but he had some cool mods.
I did see it mention that it will fit 100.
meranom.com/en/komandirskie-classic/vostok-watch-komandirskie-650539.html
And as well in the movement it self.
meranom.com/en/amphibian-classic/spare-parts/vostok-watch-2426-movement-no-date.html
But again, might be better off emailing him directly, as half the comments are in cyrillic.
Cheers and thanks again!
Thank you so much for the detailed answer. Yes I know meranom and the cyrillic comments!😀
It should be great and useful to get in contact with him and create a video where is explained what parts are compatible with different cases.
I cannot imagine the prices for the service of some other nice piece I own since a while.
Brilliant review! Interested to hear what you think about Chinese verses Russian watches.
@@RelativeTime yes , it helps me immensely, the first good steer I’ve received. Can’t thank you enough 👍
Had the 24 hour version in this case. I wanted to like it more, Maybe if the case was different, and the lume lasted like my Seikos.
They are starting to use Super Luminova on some of the more original designs. But those are about twice.
Great review, very helpful. How do you regulate it to be +5 only? Is that something one can do at home with a tooth pick or you need tools?
Some basic tools, steady hands and patience. Here a basic video on how.
ruclips.net/video/vHnIwDLmLcE/видео.html
The real way to do it, is with a Time grapher. So you can instantly tell what it's running at. I just adjust it, then wait a few days to see it's performance. Then adjust as necessary.
Mine it's a 24h dial, and I consider that it's absolutely awsome. Great videos, and great channel.
I've swapped movements and hands. Never taken one apart though. Let me know how it goes.
@@rojorunner27 Good tip. That's always my worst fear when dealing with anything small. Glad it all worked out. How long did it take you?
@@RelativeTime about 90 min mainly because I didn't line up a gear right and it refused to manually wind. So I had to take it apart again.
Like this review, will definitely be trying one to keep my Amphibias company.
Thanks. There are a few more Vostoks now with GMT hands, so could be worth looking at too.
I just bought one after watching this video!
Glad to help. Hope you enjoy it when you get it.
i just ordered one, thank-you for the info.
Hope you enjoy it!
Who cares what others argue. Let them waste their time, everyone please do you, life is just too short. Good video bro!!
I see that on the ones from Ebay right now they don't have the whale for the case back. Or is that something you put on yours ? Thanks for the review
Mine just came that way. I'm never sure if there are specific case backs for each Vostok, or they just throw on whatever is handy at the moment.
I seen this on ebay and was bewildered as to why the listing didn't say GMT .
Yah, you think they would.
I'm impressed by the Soviet submarine with red star watch-face. Where can I get it?
Cheers! 😎
meranom.com/en/amphibian-classic/vostok-watch-amphibian-classic-960761.html
Also picked up a SE 420B06S .
meranom.com/en/amphibian-se/vostok-watch-amphibian-se-420b06s.html
It's a 24 hour dial, so if one swaps the bezel to a 24 hour bezel you almost have a budget Glycine Airman.
Cool find! This is about to be my third Vostok.
Thanks. What other vostoks do you have? Cheers!
A Scuba and a basic Komandirskie....oh and the GMT is on its way. Thanks for the recommendation!
i bought one. a very cool watch !!
WOOT! Hope you will enjoy it!
Relative Time
very much i do. thanks. mine is having a flat brushed bezel you also showed in your video. actually bought it for modding months ago but then found its so nice that i could hardly make any change. only critic i have (in addition to the bracelet of course) is the seconds sub-dial being not as prominent as i wanted. a circle around it to separate clearly from the dial would make a huge difference. i only threw it on a black nato from a Marathon, it turned right away into a very very cool military watch - with a GMT feature and costing only 70$. A ton of value here. It tops the list of Vostok i would suggest to anyone
Great video. Thanks for the explanation regarding GMT.
Thanks, hope it was informative. 😀
I might have missed it but are the numbers on the face painted or applied? Nice watch
Painted.
I don't need a gmt Watch, i don't travel a lot, but i'll buy a gmt
also - the case back doesn't seem to be the same on the ones for sale now?
I'm not sure if there is supposed to be a set caseback for each model. Or if Vostok just grabs whatever they have the most of at the time.
Komandirskie with 24 hour dial and "City"-bezel is the winner. No need for additional hand.
Have you found a city bezel that would fit?
@@RelativeTime See www.vostok-watches24.com GMT Bezel with city names with black insert for VOSTOK KOMANDIRSKIE watches, stainless steel
Item no.: LÜ-INS-17 can be used for all cases. In Black or white color insert .
Try watching at 1.25 speed. Works well
hey it looks pretty close to amphibia 670, would be cool a comparison
Could be. I’ve heard some people say they are basically the same. I think my next Vostok I’ll be a ministry case though.
Closest I found was this from wwii
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranks_and_insignia_of_the_Red_Army_and_Navy_1940%E2%80%931943
closest is the general, but still not exact. Could just be made up to represent any officer or Commander.
Cheers!
It's a Russian enlisted sailor rank.
I will tell you what i think! I think there is no Bostok that i don't like! I like them all. I also have a Vostok Europe energia II. Ok not the same as Bostok but also impressive.
Thank you! Vostok - is the best! Respect from Russia!
Although, in my opinion, this is not the best design.
Hi, Does the Beze, CLICK like The SEIKO Diver watches??
No it does not. It freely turns in both directions.
@@RelativeTime Many thanks for the response. A bit of a draw back if the bezel was with clicks would have sounded much better I guess....
nice video as always! Have you encountered a watch brand called CCCP? I was looking for Vostok and came across that particular brand.
I’ve seen them on massdrop a few times. Been curious, but never looked into to them too much.
I even think the domed crystal is bigger.
where did you get that stitched leather strap at 12:48 ?
Its a cheap one I got off ebay. It looks better then it is. But for $5 I can't complain too much.

@@RelativeTime thanks for the reply
have you switched the sloped bezel? I like it better - can I buy it from you?
I never did swap it for anything. I actually wound up selling the watch a few months ago.
@@RelativeTime do you have any tips on where to find a similar one? or a black insert 24h bezel?
where can I find dials for the komandirskie GMT???? cant find any on meranom and neither on ebay
I'm not sure. My suggestion is to email demitry at meranom ( info@meranom.com ). He has connections at the factory. So perhaps he can get you one special order.
@@RadioStreetsunited I was just using @ as a shortcut for "at" wasn't trying to put an email address. But I can see the confusion. I fixed it now.
@@RelativeTime thank you! Now it's much better! Great review BTW! We all love your videos!
Could someone tell me the reference of that orange and black Amphibia scuba dude on the left in some shots?
Sure thing. It's 420380. Although I've put on an aftermarket bezel.
I think this would look awesome with a different bezel and a Coke insert
That would look good. Wouldn't be too hard to do.
Brilliant, have been considering one of these, best review on this watch yet!
Well I think I might be the only full review on it. So that's not saying much... 😁😎 Thanks again!
Lol 🙈 It's a sterling and superbly presented review!! No problem!
mine is at 5.2s a day out of the factory. Not too shabby
That's pretty good.
@@RelativeTime yeah and I managed to regulate my aphibia to 1.2s (and so far it staying around that figure)
Great review, keep em coming.
