I typically soak the slab in diesel fuel and light it on fire....once I feel like the slab is melted down to the actual card, I use a fire extinguisher to put it out. Then I pull the card out and use turtle wax to clean it with a soft brillo pad. Once cleaned, I submit the card to HGA and typically receive a Gem Mint grade. But that is just me.

@@deep3reviews This is why you have to have a senior grader whose been grading for years... preferably over a decade. double check the grade before it is sent back to the customer. I don't know about PSA, BGS, or CSG, but as stated by SGC's president Peter to Geoff in that behind-the-scenes videos SGC does have a pair of 15+ year "veterans" double checking all the cards before they are sent back. It's not a perfect system but eliminates some of the subjectiveness of only having one person with potentially little experience.

“What it means” is that PSA can’t tell with 100% certainty if a card is trimmed or not. That’s a problem. They got fooled on some 2021 nfl contenders autos and it went public and now they’re just throwing out that cards are “trimmed” it’s bs. We should expect more from the “top” company that we pay the most for fees and wait the longest for turnaround times.

I think PSA needs to create a new grading category outside of “Trimmed”. If a card is for sure trimmed then label it as a trimmed card. If they think it was mis cut or under sized from panini/Topps/UD/Leaf or whoever but not trimmed then it should be labeled as such and just just labeled as trimmed.
Trimmed comes with a stigma of the card being altered which I think pushes buyers away for sure. A must cut or undersized label would not be a harsh in my opinion.

My eyes do all the grading I need anyways, if people want to pay way more because it says PSA 10 even though the card looks like the same as a PSA 9 or PSA8 or even raw, then that’s on them. Getting magnify glasses out is too extreme, I get it for vintage cards when people didn’t take care of them and whatnot, you wanna check for fakes or coloring, shit like that, but these days it goes from pack to top loader not to binder or bike spokes 😂

It depends on the card of course.

Only a rookie hobby newbie cash grabber would crack a BGS 9.5 to get a PSA 10. Just a few years ago and for decades prior the norm was BGS 9.5 all day over a PSA 10. Wake up hobby. Most all other companies have lower pop reports on average of the same card. Scarcity is what creates value coupled with accurate and precise grading. People (newbies) are buying PSA grades for monetary gains, no regard for who has the strictest standards, best turnaround time, best customer service, best price. Why don’t we discuss who graded 50 million cards in one year and held them hostage until they were damn near worthless. Let’s talk about the PSA slabs flooding the market right now from all the people who didn’t pay to pick up their stuff after waiting forever. Lastly it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand what’s going to happen if the pop report is ever truly updated. Hey there Geoffrey 👍

Cracked open Two BGS 8.5 Jordan Fleer RCs. Both with 9.5 centering. Submitted both to PSA at last year’s National in Chicago hoping for PSA 9s…
    Well…
One came back altered, other came back trimmed…. I was devastated… 😭
So, this year’s National, I have resubmitted both to Beckett hoping for 8.5s…. They both received 8.5 but I lost .5 pts this time… 😓
It is a gamble for sure, so at the end, I simply wasted 1700 in grading fees… 😭

    • @GemRippers
      @GemRippers 2 года назад

That makes no sense that they came back 2 different things because trimming a card is altering it, right? Did they give you codes for both? And they charged you still for both, correct? I recently got back a N5 aka "altered stock" on a Ripken rookie for someone that ripped from a pack when he was a kid, and it's been in a sleeve & top loader since. But I also had an UD Brady rookie came back "EVID TRIM" but no code, too. But the most frustrating is ultra-modern cards coming back ungraded like a Burrow Select that we had come back with the N5.
I just wish they would give you an explanation as to why they didn't grade...or maybe they do if you just ask? Like when I get upcharges, I always ask how they got to the new price and PSA is very prompt in getting back to you the comps used. But ya, nothing really worse in grading than your card coming back "gradeless".
Great video tho, I am all about cracking BGS SGC HGA CGC slabs to send to PSA, it is a VERY lucrative part of the hobby if you know what you're doing. We have a video cracking an HGA 9.5 Brady Select Cosmic that really was an eye-opener lol

So does that mean two different people independently thought that Woods card should be graded just Authentic? That's loco. Or are they just saying they have two graders looking at these cards when it's really just one.

I had a 86 fleer that was previously slabbed as a 8.5. I crossed it to PSA and they said trimmed. I sent the trimmed holder to sgc and they actually called me and said do you just want it in a holder? They were confused. I told them I had a former PSA grader look the cars up and down and he said, “I don’t see ANYTHING! NOTHING! That would deem this trimmed. He said all cards have little things that could be determined as messed with, but he said the fibers were perfectly consistent and he straight told me that they were wrong.
I told Sgc, I just want you to grade it as you see fit. He didn’t want to hear any story he just didn’t understand my intentions. He indicated it was likely just going to come back trimmed. He called me back and said, they had to grade it. They looked at it and they couldn’t find any evidence of trimming at all.
Well, PSA charged me $1k and then I paid expedited shipping both ways with insurance, about $350. Then I had to pay SGC a couple hundred I think.
So PSA and their ridiculous propensity to just slap altered or authentic on stuff for CYA reasons, cost me around $1600 in total. The company is terrible and when this ridiculous cost difference fades away, they will have to be a much more decent company. And their grading consistency is terrible. BGS is actually extremely consistent. SGC is consistent but so freaking hard. I’m not sending cards there anymore either. I sent about 50 80s and 90s Jordan’s that just got butchered. Tons of 8.5s and the ones I didn’t care about got 9s. Like 4 tens out of the whole order. With sgc, you have to get a 10 to make money off their grading on 80s and up. A 9.5 can sometimes make something, but rarely, so I’ve found them pointless. PSA is ok for lower value cards that are perfect, but you may get a 7 or a 10. My cousin sent the same card in 3x PSA 8, PSA 7, PSA 9. How does that happen. The card was beautiful, perfect corners, surface amazing, slight top to bottom off. They are just not consistent for the very obvious reason they are hiring way more people off the street for $20/hr. Yes, they train them and have more eyes on it but it was determined that PSA spends less than 30 seconds per person per card. That is astounding!

    • @cardgirl2890

So PSA did indeed charge you when they said the card was trimmed? A friend had a card come back, unslabbed, with one of those indecipherable codes...which, when researched, meant it wasn't the right size.
