The official procedure is a bit different. Drain the coolant on the bottom of the radiator, loosen the plastic release valve on the top right side of the radiator with a large screwdriver & remove the expansion tank cap. Close the drain plug. Fill up the system with coolant, untill coolant comes out of the release valve on top of the radiator. Close the valve. Put the car on level ground & run the car with AC on maximum cooling. After a few minutes the thermostat should open & start the electric forced cooling circuit.(radiator fan) An opened thermostat gives full circulation of the fluid & will remove trapped air. Top up the coolant a bit under the maximum capacity. If the system functions right, you should see coolant flowing into the small top hose into the expansion tank. Job done.
+Mike Da Costa The coolant comes premixed in the bottle with the correct concentrations of coolant vs distilled water. I would recommend buying it like this as it just makes the job even easier!
track nut Great vids, nice to see someone doing them on one of UKS most popular cars. Can i ask when you drained out the coolant from the drain bolt, does that drain all the coolant out or is some still left in the engine?
I had a question, I sent my car to get my engine repaired and I am assuming they topped it off with some sort of coolant or water and it's stayed half way in the white tank for a while now, is that normal to stay half way for months on end or do I need to call a mechanic?
Hi I have a Corsa D 2007 I’m getting a swoshing sound at the front when I accelerate , it sounds like water moving back and forth. Also my heating is warm but not hot , any idea what is happening ? I can’t afford a mechanic 😬
Obvious things to check are that the coolant level is full and that there is no air in the coolant system. Be very careful when undoing the coolant cap it should only be done when cold. Is the car okay whilst driving? not overheating?
How many litres of coolant will I need to put in once it's drained? I drained mine yesterday. I put in 2 litres of coolant. I drove the car for about 15 miles and there's nothing in the coolant tank? What could it be?
Thats because you didn't get all the bubbles out of the coolant bottle so they have worked there way up. Topped the bottle up again and check it for the next few times you drive and it should settle. If it continues to lose coolant then you might have another issue.
I edited the video abit crap but it was bled for about ten minutes without the cap on until the fans had cycled a few times. As long as you get most of the air out first time round so you have no air locks then you wont run into any issues. Most of the air will make its way around the system as the car cools down and heats up.
I've an opel Vectra and had a sealer in it for over a year. I'm doing this with warter trying to flush the shit out of it. The temperature gauge drops if I'm on a motorway but the heater is now working a lot better. I was going to do this every day for a week and then put antifreeze in? What do you think. It's an 08. Jon from Ireland Dublin... thanks
Try some carlube radiator flush. Just remember that water from the tap assuming thats what you are using contains impurities that might boil off and scale up inside the engine. Are you sure your thermostat is okay as you mentioned your coolant temp is dropping when on the motorway
track nut Cheers. That makes sence. I'll do that and if I've the same problem I'll do the thermostat. You're right get that out asap. I'm a u-tube mechanic. Have a great weekend. Jon
I think you will have to get the part from vauxhall unless you can find the thread type and find one yourself. I would say vauxhall would be the easiest option. When tightening bleed screws they only have to be snug, they seal on a tapered edge so if you over tighten they normally snap.
I cant remember whether i used premixed or concentrate. Easiest way is to buy the premixed anti freeze and that way it saves all the messing about trying to get the right mixture
You need to find out where its going. It can only be a leak or being burnt off in the combustion chamber. Leave it on idle and have a look under the car and see if there are any signs of leaks. Excessive steam out of the exhaust would also be a common sign.
When you say wont open do you mean it wont unscrew? If it unscrews but nothing comes out then that suggests that it might be clogged up with rust and rubbish from the coolant system.
@@Anevilglare I would be wary of trying too hard and then it breaking off. You could disconnect the lowest radiator hose to drain the system. They can be awkward to twist free but it shouldn't be too tough
Mark's Garage I’ve replaced the coolant hoses with all silicone red ones. Ran it for 30 mins now going to bed and it was still doing it. Tomorrow, heaters on and let it run for a good hour with cap off? It feels like it’s currently overheating a little at moment
Manic King Give the hoses a good squeeze with the cap off and see if you get any bubbles out. Sounds like an airlock near the thermostat. Leave it running with the cap off and give it a few revs to get the water pump shifting the coolant and air about. Sometimes jacking the front off the car up can help remove stubborn airlocks

do you not unscrew the bleed screw on the top of rad
Hi There...
Did you fill the water bottle just with the pink coolant, or did you add water to the coolant??

If you buy coolant concetrate be sure to look at the 2:1 ratio. Some require a specific mixture to activate the coolant properly.

Some is still let in the engine for anyone else wondering.

If the cars coolant system is all good and there are no leaks then the level should stay the same all the time. Sounds like your car is fine.

Yes the car is fine not overheating just the noise and heating is warm but not great .
@@Mich_C I have this exact problem, did you sort it? If so how?

Where's the minimum and maximum marker? I can't seem to see the indicators on the tank?
Check your car manual, usually where there is no min/max mark on the reservoir you should add it up to the sealing point of reservoir
Hi. Could you do a video about replacing the expansion tank?
What's the music, mark?
hey i was doing the coolant bleed nipple to get the coolant out i did it back up but it snapped? do you know where i can get spare part for this?

Thanks for the video, good work.
Any chance of doing the front & rear brakes on the corsa d please.

You said make sure to not over fill it but you have over filled it above the max line
Thats because i know that once the air in the system bleeds out the level will return to normal.
I used universal antifreeze you can mix with other antifreeze. I has non on my tank.
Can you show me how to change front brakes
my drain wont open any ideas

How many litres does the system hold? I have an Adam 1.4 turbo so very similar
Father Jack look up on Google or when you drain it just replenish the equal amount...
Anybody know how much the tank needs from empty
About 4ltr in my car but it may depend
After doing this my car mad like a crackle sound for ages and the fan just kept going
Manic King probably needs further bleeding due to an air lock. Put the heater on hot and fans full speed.

@@the_time_chambers_edge did y9u ever sort.your problem?
Yea bleed it all properly, and bought a new coolant cap and it’s ok now
isn't the level of coolant to high in your video?
It is indeed high but as the small air bubbles work their way around the system the level will drop towards the normal mark.
Why the over editing silly music
Sorry Brian, video is 8 years old. Feel free to make your own video with the music not included👍👍
