Model editor can be used for several reasons dml model ie simulating processors converting ibis models to pspice model etc etc even creating a model so you can simulate hardware in the loop
Yeah I was kinda thinking about that while I was talking about how I don't use it. I need to learn more about making custom parts models from datasheets, like for transistors and diodes and stuff. I think the model editor helps with that stuff and I need figure it out. The real reason I don't use it to view models if I don't have to is because it takes a long time to open up for some reason and it's a lot faster to just open the text file lib if I have it handy. Anyway thanks for all the comments! It's great to get some feedback and know that there is interest in this stuff! What kind of circuits do you usually work on?
@@CircuitAnalysis As far as looking at the test file is concerned if you have the latest service pack installed you have the option of viewing the model test in orcad just select the component providing it has a model library attached to the component just right click on it and about half way down the pop up menu is a "View PSpice Model" menu just click on it and it quickly lists the model in a text window inside orcad and if you have sevel models in that library file it opens it at the correct space in the file
Oh yeah good point, you can hit r twice or v once for flip vertical. Now I realize the reason I didn't do that is because in some other programs like simetrix if you rotate the parts it keeps the wires connected and re-routs the wires all funky, so I have a habit of cutting them first.
@@CircuitAnalysis You're doing well I first bought orcad and pspice about 10 years ago it took ages to learn it and even now when I think i know it i still have to go and look at various notes just to remind me There is a lot of good books and appnotes out there if you want i can send you a list of books that have helped and that i constantly refer to them even the one that were written in the early nineties still has me referring to them.
@@tdrelectronics766 Awesome. Yeah I'll take all the references I can get. You can either just post them as a comment on this video or on my channel's "Discussion" tab so they're available for everyone or you can email me directly from my channel's "About" tab. Thanks!
Capture is very buggy. There are a lot of things I don't like about it and I have had similar problems. Sometimes re-starting everything helps. Sometimes you may have to delete it and create a new sim profile. You can also check for new hot-fixes to install the latest patches. Another thing I've noticed is you can sometimes run the simulation and then open the sim-settings from within the PSPICE A/D GUI and it will work from there even if it doesn't work from capture. Sometimes if you have general problems with your project getting funky and not acting correctly, you can open the project file ".opj" in a text editor and manually fix issues, for example broken links or sim profiles that have disappeared. Worst case if I have a project that gets totally messed up, I just start a totally new project and copy/paste the ckt from my prev project into the new one and make a new sim profile to get everything fresh and clean. Good luck!
@@CircuitAnalysis thanks for the fast answer! i found the problem and it was kinda dumb of me.. i was saving my projects to another folder on my desktop while i should have been saving them at the C:\cadence folder..

Thanks man !!
thanks for watching!
you can use the rotate command to rotate the component it save the ctrl c and ctrl v shenanigan

hello,i try to run my simulation profile but capture crashes...do you happen to have any ideas?
