Not necessarily pine needles but standard barkomulch (a little bit finer than the nuggets) or hemlock which is almost dirt it’s so fine Also if you have a pet don’t get the dyed stuff they will stain your carpets

LOL! The red mulch belongs in the landfill. I agree with the mini nugget Pine bark and even the large chunk Pine bark in selected large beds. Great color and color retention, minus the dye.

My house is a very light grey brick, the red mulch looks good on it. I like the way it stands out. All my neighbors have dark colored mulch. To each his own I guess.
Why didn't you mention hard wood mulch? In regard to rubber mulch, I completely agree with not using it in the yard or garden. However, it does have its place - I used it to create an approximately 3 foot wide barrier around my house and it works great - it's maintenance free; no weed issues; and most importantly, it stays in place because I have it bordered off with bricks and other non-organic borders; it also helps prevent termites because I don't have wood next to my house.
I should have clarified the question about hard wood mulch. I use it exclusively because it decomposes well and lasts about 2 years. I don't use any dyed mulch, though, just plain hardwood mulch.
Couple of things. Surprised that there was no mention of wood chips I fine they are great as well as pine needles they both do great for me and my bride. The only reason to use rubber mulch should be for play grounds. It’s actually my favorite mulch for play grounds.
I like it around the house itself. I have wood siding and think that it won't encourage insects as much as wood. The rest of the yard is wood mulch.
I use it also around the house in two garden beds and also behind a retaining wall where we have two non edible trees. It lasts easily 5x longer than real mulch and it doesn't blow away in the high winds here.
Wow pine straw?? I got plenty of those
Dyed wood (scrap wood) is food source for termites DO NOT USE you will have termites , don't ask me how I know.
You really think termites have a preference of one piece of wood, over another? [Mr.Termite Says: "Oh, that was a pallet, I'm not eating that wood!] "You people are insane as Far-Leftists!" You are also a food source for termites! Ha!
"Dyed wood (scrap wood) is food source for termites DO NOT USE!" Unless of course you intend on keeping termites for pets.
@@liveuntetheredmusepodcast4832 Yes. Yes, they do have wood preferences.
- Guy that is currently away from his house due to ceiling rebuild from termite infestation
Free wood chips from tree cutter are similar. The tree may have been cut because it was infested with something.
@@liveuntetheredmusepodcast4832 how in Gods name is science a far Left issue?
I LV t look of red mulch … but my new plants died from it ..! NO more cedar chips great
Everyone has opinions. I love putting the Red Mulch on my Tomatoes in Containers. High Yeild and Tomatoes are.Red and they Love the Red Mulch. Sorry Dude
Agreed. I have brown mulch let see in few months how my mini garden and plants turn out. I just put it 6-3-23. All about preference. I think all mulch are okay to use. Am not sure the rubber ones never heard it lol.
I have also seen rubber mulch float away.
Yes, float after a good hard rain. There's nothing like picking up globfuls of black tarry "mulch" from your neighbor's house. Indeed, I don't know if I should knock on their door and hand it back to them , or just sneakily put it back under their bushes.
Gotta love this guy tells it to you straight.
Little Richard says "Shut up"
I agree the red mulch is trashy looking.
What about natural cedar?
