Incredibly relevant.
no shit right. .. . especially after this corona shit. . .
I personally think A brave new world is a more correct depiction of the world today, but this is also very interesting
None of this shit is relevant LMAO. Orwell is a socialist and wrote about a totalitarian regime that removed context, nuisance, and individual interpretations of language to control people. I don’t think you actually listened to this
@@lekic1996 I believe it's a synthesis of both . The hard fear driven control of 1984 and the soft pleasure driven control of BNW .
Both Huxley and Orwell were Fabians ( as was H. G. Wells ) .
They're running two programs simultaneously is my feeling
Chapter 5 made me shit the bed! I need to learn more words!
The story was narrated by Frank Muller an absolutely amazing voice actor who sadly lost his fight for survival after a motorbike accident rest in peace Frank
Darren Higgins RIP Frank.
Wonderful recital: a rare talent... cheers Frank.
Listen to Frederick Davidson if you want to hear a good narrator. No disrespect meant, but in comparison, this guy reads this novel like it's a shopping list.
A true passion for the creative what a voice and the book wow!!

Oh
I've listened to this book countless times, I often put it on at bedtime and listen as I fall asleep. Frank Muller's voice fits this story perfectly, and his delivery is impeccable.
Thank you for uploading it.
How can you basically read this before bedtime? I couldn't even go to bed after that
I have listened to this book twice this week
My appreciation and respect to everyone how spent his energy and time doing it
I'm in the UK..I don't need to read this, I'm living it.
Let me report you to the thought police.
@@Whitetigerking88 Right, who would have thought we would ever live this. 🥹
@@andreavanda5402 Yea it is crazy it seemed like a jab at where we are going trying to be over board didn't go far enough.
The entire world is living it, some faster than others but everyone will soon catch up sadly.
Hey, could you inform us on what’s going on over there ? Any informative videos ?
I have read this book many times and in my opinion this is the best audio rendition. My favorite part is the part with O'Brian. It's very poetic writing actually. Frank Muller brings out the poetry of the writing like no other.
Perfect channel for those unexpected insomnia nights but are too tired to read🌛
The reason I'm here and will continue to be back.... Insomnia is a b!*@h
Such wisdom (sadly more an more relevant), bless Frank muller, thankyou 'free audio books', from Belgium
A timeless classic that remains as relevant as ever! 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' by George Orwell is a thought-provoking masterpiece that delves into the dangers of totalitarianism and the power of control. The narration captures the haunting atmosphere and complex emotions perfectly. Thank you for bringing this iconic novel to life in audiobook form-it’s a must-listen for everyone seeking deeper insights into society and human nature. 📖🎧✨
One of my favorite narrators
Thank you so much for the upload and the reader. So so so good.
Great book and loved the speaker
Thank you! I've finished this one and left you a like. Thanks so much.
I did find this reading wonderfully clear, the voice is very good at conveying meaning and intention, not only in dialogue but also in narration. I loved this.
Thank you for sharing!
Wow, never knew Frank Muller did a narration of this! I'll definitely check it out the next time I want to hear the story again. It's hard to top Simon Prebble's narration, but Frank Muller is one of my favorites. Loved his narrations of The Dark Tower series and The Silence of the Lambs. Dude can lend a lot of intensity to a scene by his voice.
Thanks for providing this. Very good narration.
Inspired by Zamyatin's "we", which, in my humble opinion, is more subtle. People with the ability to think globally could somehow predict much of what is happening today. Apparently history goes in a spiral, everything changes except human vices, all the problems come from them. Love the Big Brother, there’s no other choice.
Great speaker, and loved the book😊
Perhaps the real year of 1984 was not quite dystopian enough to satisfy the examples of this book. But 2022? Terrifyingly close.
“Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.” - George Orwell
Nothing happening in 2022 hadn’t been happening for a decade earlier.
I’m glad that you seem to get the problem with Western capitalism, but I’d be really curious to hear why you think that authoritarianism is a concept new to America, 2022.
Every president elected in the last 30 years has been an authoritarian capitalist.
@@christianc.christian5025 Maybe re-read that comment again. You seem to be replying to a comment in your head rather than the one above.
@@gard7662 Your problem doesn’t seem to be rereading but failing to comprehend no matter how many times you do.
OP’s comment said that 2022 would’ve been more appropriately prophetic of a title. I told them why that’s completely missing the point of the book.
The rest is facetious, which - lol - apparently went *waaaaay* over your head.

You can tell in the comments that we've learned nothing. People can't wait to turn on their neighbors. Propaganda is one hell of a drug, apparently
Your confusing propaganda with human nature. We aren’t fully evolved imo
@@lonemaus562A species is never fully evolved.
So unfortunate the writing of this book practically killed Orwell. The details of this, even on my second time through this story, made me on numerous occasions wince, get tingles, or even tear up a bit. truly a masterpiece
why what happened to him
Eh no, living on the streets for years on and off, smoking, drinking and working crazy hours in Paris, living in squaller in London and getting shot in the neck killed him. Tuberculosis was cureibel ,he wouldn't take any of his parents blood money,he never moaned,he was a True stoic
He apparently didn’t think too much of it when he’d finished it. There’s a letter he wrote where he says “It's awful to think I've been mucking about with this book since June of 1947 and it's a ghastly mess now, a good idea ruined, but of course I was seriously ill for 7 or 8 months of the time.”
Read the paperback few years back, now going to listen to the “audiobook” technology lol

For all the psychos acting like they live through this on the daily, (yeah that's my country/yeah that's what's happening where i live/that's what's happening here) in whatever country they live in!!... Please!!!!! Do you have to fight for your daily dose of rotten cabbage, do you have to hide your sexual encounters in the woods wondering if you'll be found out, are you worried that your thoughts will be caught by the thought police and you'll be tortured for months or years to where you're not even a human anymore, please!???? DID you even read the book??? To any individual believing that they are living through this, you need a Strong dose of reality!!!!
Hero post! Nice to see a flickering light of sanity in an otherwise brain-rotten comments section
This is a foreshadowing. Totalitarianism doesn’t happen overnight, it happens election by election. And we’re sliding that way, if we don’t push back.
I may have actually liked this book if i wasnt being forced to read it
I’m sorry you’re being forced, it really is a great and very timely story, I’m listening at age 37 and it gets better every time I listen to it.
I remember being forced to read it in 10th grade and i still enjoyed it
Winston describing proles fighting over pans reminds me of me watching RUclips the day after Black Friday…it’s interesting he described them as being able to overthrow the party in a day if they got themselves together. I’ve maintained for years that American women have that power but much like in this book they are too busy fighting over nothing and trying to one up each other when it comes to being perceived as a “good person”…unmarried, lonely childless aging women trying to convince themselves and others that they prefer their working life and duty to their company/organization is more fulfilling 😂 I feel bad for them in a weird way.
I am yet to figure out, whichever it is: either scenario caricatured in the novel is an inevitable future of humankind, maybe we are doomed to collapse under our own weight every time we manage to leap forward regarding technological progress, or...
...Or people that sat on the top of rubble, that Europe (to start with) has became within last centuries, still smoldering and soaking blood, suffering from famine and despair from fresh wars, maybe those people read the book and went: "Nice, that ought to work for use nicely!!".
Whichever it is, Georgy really put it perfectly clearly in his novel. It might be one of those situation, that pen really can be more dangerous then sword.
Wow,saw movie. Book makes me see it clearer.THOUGHT POLICE😶🌫️
How did the author nail it so close to true all those years ago written?

Felt like I was listening to a velvet underground album lol
What if it's always been like this, and we've all been simple sheep this whole time.
Back in the early 90s, my mother told me politicians are lying, thieving, manipulating, greedy people who are all talk and no action, and never do anything to help you unless it benefits them. She also told me our votes don't count. Whomever "they" (the rich and powerful) wanted in there would be there. I always felt she was uninformed about such matters, but see today she was completely right. We'll always be controlled by the government, and it will only get worse over time, especially with people just handing them power over things like covid.
@@charleneblack2792 How are people handing over power due to covid?

We are/have been.
This is the only narrator all others change the book into something that is not 1984 to me
Soon to be removed in the uk.
It feels like Western elites read 1984 and thought "hmm, that's a good idea!"
why must everyone say the same thing, inserting whomever they disagree with. yawn..
The book is pretty much an authoritarian how-to
@@mbellizia75 if you don't see the correlation then you're asleep
@@mbellizia75 “Inserting whoever you disagree with” isn’t the point of the book.
There’s a definitive right and wrong to it. And anyone who’s voting for either of the major-party candidates (i.e. most of the commenters here) are in the wrong.

30 years off, but completely accurate. I can't believe they have most high schoolers read this, yet there are so many adults who can't see the correlation to today, especially with Covid. It's absolutely terrifying.
i have to read this ugh
how
If you actually think that what Orwell was describing didn’t come into existence until the Covid-19 pandemic, then you really don’t understand the book.
Orwell was a democratic socialist. He opposed authoritarian capitalism and fascism, which would include both modern-day Republicans and Democrats.
Anyone who would see an outbreak which killed 1,000,000 Americans as a political issue *at all* would fit right in with the Party in this story.
I did not read it in public school, nor were we told to

@@morbidbushido Lmao, which means that you’re a conservative who found out halfway through the book what the writer’s *actual* political beliefs were, rather than continuing to rely on Madison Cawthorn’s interpretation…
