Inspired by Zamyatin's "we", which, in my humble opinion, is more subtle. People with the ability to think globally could somehow predict much of what is happening today. Apparently history goes in a spiral, everything changes except human vices, all the problems come from them. Love the Big Brother, there’s no other choice.

Winston describing proles fighting over pans reminds me of me watching RUclips the day after Black Friday…it’s interesting he described them as being able to overthrow the party in a day if they got themselves together. I’ve maintained for years that American women have that power but much like in this book they are too busy fighting over nothing and trying to one up each other when it comes to being perceived as a “good person”…unmarried, lonely childless aging women trying to convince themselves and others that they prefer their working life and duty to their company/organization is more fulfilling 😂 I feel bad for them in a weird way.

I am yet to figure out, whichever it is: either scenario caricatured in the novel is an inevitable future of humankind, maybe we are doomed to collapse under our own weight every time we manage to leap forward regarding technological progress, or...
...Or people that sat on the top of rubble, that Europe (to start with) has became within last centuries, still smoldering and soaking blood, suffering from famine and despair from fresh wars, maybe those people read the book and went: "Nice, that ought to work for use nicely!!".
Whichever it is, Georgy really put it perfectly clearly in his novel. It might be one of those situation, that pen really can be more dangerous then sword.

Orwell was a democratic socialist. He opposed authoritarian capitalism and fascism, which would include both modern-day Republicans and Democrats.

I love Frank Muller's readings. Sadly, he's no longer with us. Thanks for posting.
Winston's intuition was wrong about the girl and O'Brien. 'Nuff said.

I read '1984' In 1984. Few can boast this,
I suspect, but so what. There must have been many who read it much later, though none earlier than 1948.

This narrator of 1984 was Frank Muller, who died years after struggling through his injuries from a motorcycle accident. Ironic, right?
Goodness, he expressed this frightening 1984 novel like nobody else could have.
