My collection includes models produced by a handful of diecast model producers and independent modellers which include manfacturers such as EFE - Exclusive First Editions, Creative Master Northcord, Corgi, Oxford Diecast, Atlas Editions, Forward Models and B-T Models. My earliest memories of collecting diecast model buses is visiting Harburn Hobbies based on Leith Walk and Wonderland Models located on Lothian Road in Edinburgh which both offer a fantastic choice of models to purchase and own making them a must for any model collector. There are an unlimited number of model suppliers found throughout the UK where most have websites where you can browse and purchase the models of your choice.
Growing up in Edinburgh I definitely picked up the fascination for buses where one can be seen practically on every corner where I've always enjoyed the noise they make as well as the ride experience with different engine noises heard while travelling, almost feels part of the experience of living in Edinburgh. I feel lucky to have grown up in an interesting time where the last remaining Atlantean vehicles were running where I often travelled on them via the 4 and 5 route followed by the Leyland Olympian vehicles types throughout the 1990's up until the more modern fleet of Dennis Trident and even more recently Wright Eclipse Gemini buses.
I also have a good memory of the short lived bus wars which took place in the 90's between Eastern Scottish SMT buses and Lothian Regional Transport buses where I genuinly remember drivers trying to leap frog their rival company buses - hardly something you could believe would happen today.

Love your Y Types and that Lowland one is difficult to find.

It's getting harder to find and purchase models, I find searching on ebay groups and bus rally events are the best places to find them.

Just started collecting buses. I saw a clip of the old Glaswegian buses. Thought the livery was so nice. So I ordered four 1/50 corgi buses off eBay. It must run in the family my dad was a bus driver in Birmingham in the 60s. Love your collection and the music. Thanks for posting happy collecting

Thanks for commenting, I always respect the modellers who produce these even if some may be manufactued, so much skill and attention to detail goes into them. Will definitely be continuing my collection into the future. This is the first video/photo slideshow I've produced for my collection so keen to experiment with all sorts of ideas like a timelapse video and making use of building props etc. I'm also tempted to try producing a stop motion style video.

1:41 I Have The Airlink100 2000 Livery Trident Model From Waverley Station To Edinburgh Airport You Have! Well, I Did But I Broke It*. I Was Only 7 At The Time. I’m Better At Handling These Things Now.
I Also Had The Service 8 Trident At 2:24 From Muirhouse To Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Too! I Got That One The Same Day, But It’s Still In An OK Condition.
I Also Recently Got A Stagecoach Scottish Midlands 2014 (I Think) Service X7 Perth Royal Infirmary To Aberdeen Bus Station, But When It Ran The Elite, It Went From Dundee Bus Station To Aberdeen Bus Station, Now It’s On The Panorama From PRI To Aberdeen
*I also had very severe autism at the time. I still have it, but it’s not ruining my life at all.

If you enjoy collecting diecast bus models I would love to hear which ones you have in your collection, why you are interested in the hobby and what got you first interested in getting started collected? This is my first attempt to creating a video relating to diecast so keen to listen to your ideas and suggestions for future photography and or videos.

Hi, my son was wondering where you got the Lothian Bus from? The one at the front of your collection.

Hi, thanks for messaging I'll do my best to answer this, mght need some help identifying which one if it's a specific one, generally though they can be purchased from modelling stores across the UK like Wonderland Models or Harburn Hobbies in Edinburgh though in recent years it's got harder to find them available with only limited number of models made and less releases in the past few years. Some of the models were made specially by model makers and sold online so not every model widely available. I started collecting them when I was young and have enjoyed that since, another great place to find them is at the annual show at the Scottsh Vintage Bus Museum where they have trade stands etc.

@@Alan_Taylor thanks, I have seen some on eBay but they are quite expensive. Maybe get him one for Christmas!

@@johnbc70 When models were in greater availability I'd say they would go for around thirty pounds but more recently they seem to be selling for sixty so fairly expensive though I know alot of work goes into producing the models, definitely think there are good some good deals out there though when searching for them. The creative northcord are the most expensive and hard to find which the majority of the Edinburgh more modern vehicles are, really only pre-owned ones left. The company is making a comeback so hopefully they will start to produce Edinburgh models again, Northcord.

WHY DO PEOPLE COLLECT MOSTLY DIECAST BUSES ?.

    • @Alan_Taylor
      @Alan_Taylor  Месяц назад

For me personally I started collecting them at a young age when visiting local hobby shops such as Harburn Hobbies in Edinburgh and received a few as a gift at Christmas etc and other places, I've always enjoyed and appreciated the level of craft and quality of the models, it's the next best thing next to owning a real bus. The models themselves are getting harder to obtain so finding them part of the fun too, I've found the annual bus events at Lathalmond one of the best places to find them. I think for me too its capturing some nostalgia and memories of vehicles I've had a ride on, tend to buy models I have a connection with and not so keen on vehicles I'm not familiar with or tell a story.
Would be keen hearing from others what they enjoy about model collecting, I know alot of people enjoy making their own models and also commissioning some as well.
