- Remember how magical it was to visit Sun City when you were younger? There was something amazing to do regardless of age. A mega casino for the adults, the futuristic Skytrain was the coolest way to get around, the entertainment centre was heaven on earth for kids, and who can forget about the iconic Valley of the Waves? There was just nothing like Sun City.
A few weeks ago, we were surprised with an unexpected offer inviting us on an all expenses to experience the newly revamped Palace of the Lost City. Over the years, that magical feeling of visiting Sun City faded with each trip so we were curious, and even excited to see what had changed. We simply had to find out if this improved version of Sun City could reignite that sense of magic and nostalgia from the good old days...

I was so impressed by sin city when I went back there two months ago, I was expecting the same rot and decay as everything else touched by the anc in south Africa but was BLOWN AWAY, it was awesome!!

I loved how they've updated it. Sun city was always a great place for me. Worked there in TV productions through the years. I know the buildings etc are fake but I always enjoyed it. Feel safe to walk around in my own, like a little oasis in the middle of a dry stretch of land.
The original vision of this was fabulous.
Politics aside.
it's a fun place for families and you do feel away from it all.
Might need to revisit it. One day

Thank you for this trip down memory lane. Your enthusiasm is contagious Mark Sham. What I cherish most of the 'old days' are the international live shows - Elton John, Rod Stewart, Queen, Frank Sinatra - you name them we were blessed enough to see them!! Sun City is rather far away from Plettenberg Bay but you have wet my appetite for a return visit....long live Like a Tourist!

Awesome video Mark and team. I especially enjoyed the nostalgic start. Incidentally I spent last weekend at Sun City. A visit that was meant to be Fri - Sun but we stayed till Monday morning to get every bit of fun we could squeeze in. Bravo Sun City for keeping up the allure and magic. It was fun for the adults as we all the children. We stayed at vacation club but Lefika villas look great. All their accommodation options, eateries, entertainment options (pity the lightning pushed us out of "valuable of the waves" as my 5years old calls it).
Your video is sublime....that ceiling is like the Cistine chapel.
Mark climbing stairs like a meercat...we actually saw meerkat's or maybe they were mongooses outside our room.

Great memories. I went their in 1980 in my matric year, our Athletics team from Menlo Park were the ushers for the Gerrie Coetzee vs Mike Weaver fight. Then I went there 2 years later while in the State Presidents guard and with friends in 1985. 10 years later I met a great girl and over the next 25 years we went their 5 times, 1st the Cabanas, then the Cascades, then 2 x to the Palace (comped by Sun international) and lastly in the Hotel for a golf tournament. It was always the best entertainment spot in the country, even though I stay in Cape Town and have all the attractions I could ever wish for. I played lost city and shot 75, then Sun city and shot 78 (the week after the million dollar) I also saw Mariuz Pudzianowski win a strongman title, what a monster. The best fun was racing around on the jetskis and the amazing buffets, with endless food. Thanks for the great video.

I've been lucky enough to stay at The Palace 3 times and it will always be one of my favourite places.
lol ahhhhhh the memories flow back. I worked there during construction, And had many manty gooooood times there. Who remembers the Queen concert and many others????/ 🤣😂 Great place for the whole fam glad it is still up and running >
Great video guys! I agree completely with you. Sun City is becoming amazing again. I have timeshare at their vacation club and have been going once a year for the last 3 years. Great for kids, great for adults too. Living in Joburg, we need more places like this.

Fantastic place. Been ther 3 times on school trips only for 1day. But one day i am going back sith my fam and we will stay for 2 or 3 days !cànt wait. I miss this place sm😢
We only went there a couple of times when we were kids. Glad they’ve kept up the place and it’s all the more special now that everyone can enjoy it.

I'm sorry that there weren't 10 times the number of people at Sun City in this video. I hope the word gets out and thousands of tourists go there again. Wonderful place.
I have to tell you, Sun City was packed on this specific weekend. We always try avoid showing people on camera without their permission so I think that’s why it looks quiet. But it was madness because of the Rugby World Cup final ❤️
Been there many times since the early 80's - also saw Queen there in 1984. There has been a number of upgrades over the years.

Been to so many countries but absolutely nothing has beaten the breakfast buffet at the palace !!! It was genuinely one of the best I’ve had in my entire life!!
I agree but, unfortunately was discussed at the way people piled their plates, and sat from 9am to 11h39 stuffing their faces like it was their last meal on thus planet 😢

Loved the video. We were at Sun City this past weekend but in the "Reserve" accommodation. It was fantastic. Us 4 ladies spent the day in the pools drinking piña colada's and eating sushi from Ocean Basket. It was fab! Hopefully we will get to experience the Palace soon.

We have often been for various things such as the Golf, but have never stayed at The Palace except when I have been working with incentive groups - thinking the Hubs and I need a weekend at The Palace for a spoil.

I wentto SunCity in 2019 for the 1st time. Couldnt afford staying in the Palace but it was an awesome experience anyway!!!

After watching the video all I can say is WOW! Halfway through the video I forgot what it was about as I was just fully captivated by the videography and overall production of the video. An absolutely stunning piece really. I would love to be able to do these kinds of shoots, if only I knew where to start developing my skills.

He's wanted to go since he saw the Adam Sandler movie, and after watching this he's dyyying to go 🇿🇦🙌
The first time I went to Sun City there was only the main hotel, I remember feeling ripped off for having to pay 4 Rand for a Castle lager! The first time we stayed there was in 1984, I won a 3 night stay at the Cascades on a phone in competition on radio 702 (before it became a talk station). Since then I have been there countless times for congresses over the years but never got a chance to stay at the Palace. There's even a Hard Rock Cafe there now.
I’ve only been once but it was a great amazing memory and I stayed in the very best room and most expensive room 😂
