I have to tell you, your yawn was contagious early in the video!! Then I had to laugh thinking there were probably hundreds of people watching simultaneously yawning together. Great video.
Recently bought 100 acres wondering best way to make the land work for me I will be getting 10 calves in the spring I am in southern Michigan but I am inspired to start farming and haven’t a clue lol
9-22-23 Twine tension out of twine box is important when you consider the knotter ties knots in NANO SECONDS. Knotter function is dependent on proper tension as the needles delivers twine thru chamber up over the twine disc holders. If twine not placed properly in the holder knotter may miss a tie you'll know it. !!!! There is no tension rating, you go by "feel" which comes from experience. There are other factors which can affect knotters but tension I look at first !! Wire balers are a whole different story ! I have worked with both over the years. Just tagging along with you Kayla, Bye. 👍👍
It’s exactly why sometimes it’s really hard for ME cuz I can’t watch the baler work and be in the tractor baling… I’d had a couple tie issues but one was a swap over on a bundle but when it happens a couple more times - - then it’s time to call in the boss man. Thanks for always being a part of our day too!
Yes the swap over.!!..........I did not mention that issue. The key issue here is when the twine changes from one twine ball to the next the knotter can MISS a tie. Depending where the knot is LOCATED when the needle delivers it up to the twine disc holder and the "bill hook" . If the knot CLEARS both units you get a completed knot. If the :stripper arm" does not strip the knot off the bill hook you'; have 2 strands hung up in the knotter. The last . note to tell you is ......how the manual knot is made when joining two twine balls together. The knot MUST be a "square knot" not an over hand knot why the over hand is to big and can pull apart. After you tie the square knot CUT the tails to no more of an inch remaining. The key here is the knot must be small tight with short tails in order to pass thru the knotter in a NANO SECOND.. Now you have a better understanding of what is happening back there because you are driving. Jason already knows what is going on at the knotter and how to fix. The way I learned was to ride on top of the bale chamber to see what was happening, I ate a lot of dust !! Now if the knotter is constantly missing there is an issue with the knotter will require a inspection and adjustments and you'll need to go to the knotter section in the manual............too detailed to discuss here. Hope this helps BYE !!!@@ChroniclesofKayla
Assume when your bales are screwed up because of string issues, you kick them out and re-bale? Always love to see a new Kayla video in my notifications! Hope your fur baby's eye is on the mend!
Good job!!! You diffidently don’t go out and buy enough land a equipment to become a row crop farmer! Y’all hang in there!! You do look like your having fun!👍
PTO was spinning. We jus have the protection shields on it to keep things safe …. I’ll try to catch some shots this next week of the different aspects of the baler working??
The shields are in tack, protecting the PTO & there for you won’t see the PTO shaft spin in - - Red. Green. Blue. Orange. Yellow. They all run & have their flaws. They all break down at times. I think it’s whatever works best for the farm and person using them.
How many strokes per bale do you shoot for. On our New Holland 570, we always tried to get around 17 strokes per bale to keep consistent length and make the accumulator work better
Well, we shoot for 14 strokes per bale - which makes a huge difference when you’re out of alignment because it will affect every thing down the line. The length of the bale goal is always 33-34inches AT max because of trailer length 3 bales across - so we’re not over hanging / over length but it also makes the stacks in the barn and having the max amount of space in each “bay” of the barn - - each bay holds 960 bales, 11 stacks high. And each barn holds 6,720 BALES without hand stacking / elevating hay (which we’ve done in the past).
Soooo we do 450 acres roughly of mixed grass and then 80 (right now) of alfalfa …. Alfalfa has its benefits. You can get 3-5 cuttings. But at the same time it’s 3-5 trips to that field with mower, rake, baler & hauling. So there’s expenses there but also Alfalfa CAN be finicky with the weather too … grasses are little more lenient and forgiving at times.
It was nice to virtually join you in your office. I see your assist is still sleeping on the job. I really just enjoyed listening to talk about things and what is going on. Kudos to Jason for taking care of you and the farm equipment. he is a good man. Are keeping the 5S-145? Thanks for doing two Vlogs the same week. You mentioned you are tired. Take a short break fro doing video editing since you give up sleep to do that. Be safe, get so rest, and God bless.
As of right now I’ll have her til the end of the year. We’re not sure what the plan is yet. Jason and I are trying to budget and make some changes and adjustments this fall for the 2024 season.
Another great video Kayla. I still think John Deere's are the Cadillac of tractors even though you like the red stuff. Just remember Nothing runs like a Deere. If it ain't green... It ain't mean!!! If shit is red... Leave it in the shed. Also you still go girl... No matter what
Ummm I think it’s “if it ain’t red, leave it in the shed” 😂 but everyone has preferences… and it really goes back to Dealership, Customer Service and what works best for each other’s operations. - - and what each Company can help provide in the process.
HeyHay Boss , another great video as usual. Already looking forward to the next one. Y'all be careful and I'll see ya later ....Drew
Thanks so much Drew

Loved the drone footage keep up the good work and keep sharing your great videos
Thanks, will do!
👍👌🇨🇦❤️, the juggling act begins, kids activities, life and baling, a very full life it is
Yes … life’s a bit chaos right now. But it’s all jus part of the fall crazy … just a few more weeks of hay and things will slow down again.
I love watching yall ,i like hearing you ramble , yall work good together
I have lots of ramblings
Awesome job with the drone your getting to be a expert with it
Thanks 👍 Jason actually was flying!!! Lol 😂 I still can’t master it driving and flying.
Toujours de superbes vidéos Madame👍🇫🇷

First Massey I ran was a #12 with a Wisconsin 2 cylinder engine
Nice!!!! I’ve been really pleased with my “first” MF tractor too.

Yes - we jus push them through & clean out the accumulator- not exactly the most fun job …. Which sometimes can be frustrating for me.
🎉🎉🎉qqqqqq🎉z
Thanks for sharing your day on the farm. It refills my "optimism tank" much like my favorite TV Show from Canada : "Heartland". 😍❤
I love heartland!!! It’s such a good one!

Great video Kayla great comfort driving Massey in out of dust is it a 5s Massey ?
Hey just wanted to Wish you a Happy Birthday
How does bailer/ accumulator work in first wind row you showed us the pro shaft is not spinning
PTO was spinning. We jus have the protection shields on it to keep things safe …. I’ll try to catch some shots this next week of the different aspects of the baler working??
Pro safety shield is not turning , the baler is running! The shaft must be running , I guess? This will always be a John Deere family!

Does your monitor show strokes per bale or do you have to listen for the sound of the knotters tripping?@@ChroniclesofKayla
@griggsfarmsllc2273 I have to listen right now … we don’t have a monitor for the baler 😅😅 old schoolin it
How many acres do you guys hay per year ? Alfalfa verse grass which is more profitable

Do you not tedout before you put in wind Row
No we do not Ted, we used and demoed our very first rotary rake this year and it’s made a huge difference & improvements with the dry time / baling
That yellow light on your dashboard? Seatbelts?
No it’s actually the PTO light, because it’s running the baler.
Pro does not appear to be rotating
