It's refreshing to listen to a well spoken man with vision. He really has a lock onto the phenomenon that Rasmus nurtured and I wish the new organization well. I will never forget the delicious chocolate malt milkshake I was served there in 1961 as a 12 year old!
@@benbeckley9192 well you have about 10 years on me so you know exactly how I feel about this place . All those beautiful rocks for just a donation. The rock museum was neat because they would turn off the lights and the rocks would glow in the dark .
My family used to visit Peterson Rock Garden back in the ‘50’s and ‘60s. It was a good place for families to visit. I believe it was free. There were always lots of visitors there but not a mob.
While it's not free anymore, it is NOT expensive and it's an honor system for paying to get in. Right now, it's the only way to keep this going and everyone working there is a volunteer.
Sentimental is the perfect word for this place . My Parents took my family here in the 70s and I remember walking the paths and getting a tour of the rock museum. If I had a lot of money I would love to restore this to place to its original beauty . I loved the peacocks 🦚 and the above ground sprinklers in the summer time . I want to thank this man who volunteers his time. The rocks are beautiful. He explains it beautifully.
You have no idea how much this comment means to me coming from you. FYI: In vidIQ's community post yesterday they asked for names of small RUclips channels you watch. I suppose it was a way to get more of them noticed. I told them about your channel. Be well.
And our area is delighted to be hosting you! So glad you enjoyed this and are planning to go. When I was there last year, it was a donated entry fee. Haven't been back recently, so not sure if that's still true. Please have an absolutely wonderful time for however long you're here.
Thank you for a great video. I'm born and raised in Redmond and this was such a cool place from my childhood. I love to hear the new vision for this place.
amazing! I remember growing up near Silverton and coming here almost every summer with my family as a child to visit family in the area. This was the highlight of the trip for me everytime and I'm glad that it's being taken care of to this day. Thanks for the video!
Absolutely incredible to see this, Rock garden so cool. Very interesting to hear the story of the place and the passion they have. And im one of the viewers from Norway😀
Thanks for posting this video. I have visited the Rock Garden many times. My mom took us. I took my kids. Sadly I hand not been able to take my grandkids. Hope to do it someday. A few years back there was a big push to get the place fixed back up. Those folks had a FB page where they posted progress. I believe they are the ones who got the rock garden on the national register of historic places. I am thrilled someone has taken up where they left off. I remember sitting I a little cafe there with my grandmother. So many memories.
Do it anyway, Matt. You've got 10 times the viewers I have, you'll do a much better job than I did, and your viewers enjoy you so they'll like it. You're gonna get a whole lot more views than this one did. Trust me on this.
@@MattCookOregon I made the views statement because your followers enjoy what you put up and I meant that more people will again have enjoyment from your video. I apologize if I wasn't able to articulate that correctly.
Why have I not been? It looks magical combined with engineering feats! My kinda dichotomy.❤
It was wonderful having you out! Thank you for shining a light on ‘Rassey’s Garden’! 🦚🦚🦚
It was wonderful being there. Thank you so much for your cooperation.
These are videos I like to watch, interesting stories and interesting places.
