Omg, this is the anime I've been looking for atleast 2 years ever since I found and amv of his anime, and promised to watch this anime but forgot the title.
i saw this show years ago and loved it when i was younger, but forgot to name and couldnt finish it. Been thinking about it lately and suddenly its in my recommended, youtube really do make wonders
"Cartephilias threw a stone at Jesus during his crucifixion and was punished with immortality" is a totally wild plot twist that I completely forgot XD
each time i watch this anime i question to my self.....what if she just said. "You know what screw, it apparently faite just hates me and gave up the ghost." what would the doctor of said then ."oops i was only trying to see if she was willing to live, and fight....i didn't realize that she had so much trama that one push would have broke the cammels back" i still hate when tat sort of thing is ignored just cause it worked out alright.
the instinct to live is ingrained in our brains. I don't know exactly how that would interact with her trauma, but in that moment she likely would have fought to live.
@@chad404 it can be turned off through trauma. The experiments they did with dogs and monkeys to prove learned helplessness is really depressing if you look into it. Gives good insight into human psychology and how some people just often go from one abusive relationship to the next seemingly never to considering that there is really any other kind of better way for them.
I have watched this anime series religiously years ago due to the amazing art style, lore, mystery, and dark theme but I never knew the ending and I was even unsure if I did managed to watch each of its episodes. I was pleasantly surprised after watching this that I did watched each of its episodes and just happend to forget the ending for some reason.
Can someone explain to me how this world works. Is it a world where magic and magical creatures are a normal and known thing or one where magic is a hidden fringe world thing, where only a few humans know are real and only a few can see and interact with magical creatures?
Similar to the way things work in the Harry Potter stories. Magic is real and has always been so and all the beings and creatures that appear in world folklore are real. But only a few people have the ability to see and interact with them.
She is still very fragile but that is balanced by the Dragon`s curse and Cartaphilius`s immortality. Provided she is careful then she is potentially immortal but if something goes wrong then she could die in a very horrible fashion very quickly.
basically, yeah. She's both cursed with immortality and cursed to die soon and painfully. The two curses conflict with each other and get to the point of "you're going to live for a very long time, and then you're going to die painfully." Which, honestly, is a best-case scenario, since that's what normally happens to mages that aren't her.
Lovely show, filled with deeper themes about existence and finding our place in it, but almost all the names were pronounced differently in this recap video than in the show. I highly recommend watching it.
Well, that’s a very touching way of telling that particular Old Story. There’s good reasons the Wife Abduction is honored beside the Stranger Saves the Village and the Medicine Journey. And not just because it’s a very overtly feminine story, it’s many iterations primarily passed from mothers to daughters. If you read fanfic you probably call that Old Story “enemies to lovers” or some other approximation of this thing humans have shared as long as we have been human.
I just realised with anime recaps I can kinda enjoy objectively good anime like 8.00+ MAL that are subjectively not really my type of anime. Eg this is fantasy slice of life. Not really the kind of anime I watch. But maybe now it'll be the kind of anime RECAP I watch.
This comment isn't gonna be related to the video but Ani, might I suggest that you create playlists for recap videos that have become somewhat of a series? Like the series with Iruma going to Demon School? I feel like that way a lot of us would be able to watch recaps better when a certain band of videos is sorted and packed all into one playlist
Ngl, the love between Joel and Red was super wholesome. I mean, she drained his life force. But I think that was unintentionally and had genuinely grown a love for Joel, and Joel had appreciated the company in his final days.
It has a very slow release Ova arc at the moment, and the manga is still in the college arc that's mentioned at end of the anime. Its a great story, but material for the main story-line is so slow to release :(
Im not sure if anyone knows this but here we go. I believe that the main character of this anime (the one with the cow skull and who always wears a red val) (not sure how to spell his name lol) is a wendigo. A wendigo started as a legend from Native Americans. The wendigo isn't really a being per say but rather a spirit who possesses a human who had to turn to cannibalism for any reason. Anyone who is possessed by the wendigo spirit is given the uncontrollable urge to eat other human beings, while forgetting themselves in the process. This makes sense since this character's first memories is of seeing red and he often has the urge to eat human flesh. Even googling "the image of a wendigo" has similarities to the character's "true form"
Something akin to one but from the story he must have originated somewhere in Scandinavia to have been befriended by one of the Sami people. He`s spent centuries living in Britain though but perhaps time passes differently for mages, not following strictly from the past to the future but can move backward or sideways.
If you dig deep into the series and the author enough, Yamazaki hints that Elias was inspired by Mari Lwyd at times (including on a magazine cover and merch). It's actually a tradition in South Wales, and a pretty interesting one at that
@@sirslap4255 More than likely and the character`s adoption of the surname Ainsworth may be a hint to links with some old English folklore with similar origins.
It was thanks to this video(and hearing the synopsis of this show) I realized what is happening in Something witty entertainment’s SAO abridged series with Asuna’s stalker
Okay this a great story! Especially the love story bit. Reminds me oh Hellsing and how Integra, Seras, Alexander and Walter change Alucard for the better even though half of them are his enemies. Does this comparison make sense? Maybe not but I’ll stick with it.
The Ancient Magus Bride was such a refreshing show to watch. Feels really different to other anime.

Anyone else notice that the names for the king and queen of the fairies was taken from Shakespeare's name for the king and queen of the fairies. Oberon and Titania
19:22 HE THREW A STONE AT WHO????? DURING WHAT?????? How tf do I not remember this story plot AT ALL but remember everything else happening
i love this anime and its my #1 on my list and my favorite anime overall
Amazing show, very overlooked, its in my top 5 of all time, overall it's perfect
Has amazing characters, beautiful soundtrack, brilliant animation, great but yet simple story, great worldbuilding and good voice acting
I was recommended this years ago but never watched it, 2 minutes in I am now going to go watch it so thank you. I'll be back after I binge this in one sitting.
Edit: After 10 hours (Apparently it takes 9.6 hours to finish a 24 episode series, oops, I haven't slept since 12pm yesterday, and it's 2pm today LOL) I just finished, 8/10 (I would do 9/10 [Only two specific things get 10/10 and nothing will ever compete] but something was missing that I can't put my finger on.) it was really good and I'm glad I decided to watch and experience it instead of going through this condensed version first.
This is a top #5 anime of all time. This short doesnt do it justice everyone needs to watch it.
@@Babidi111 it's sad someone can go from one abusive relationship to another like that
Then she would of died i guess, or she would of been pulled out, and that kind of treatment makes sense for the fae lol.
I have watched this anime series religiously years ago due to the amazing art style, lore, mystery, and dark theme but I never knew the ending and I was even unsure if I did managed to watch each of its episodes. I was pleasantly surprised after watching this that I did watched each of its episodes and just happend to forget the ending for some reason.
this show I decided to watch simply because it seemed like something that would hit differently and it did. what an amazing show
I love your voice and I love how you explain everything so calmly it's really refreshing to my ears
So I’m confused about one thing. Is the curse of dying removed or does she still have like 3 years left
The ending just made my heart melt.
This show was so beautiful, I love these characters 💜
watched this series multiple times still beautiful ,, feels so diff and i like it
Lovely show, filled with deeper themes about existence and finding our place in it, but almost all the names were pronounced differently in this recap video than in the show.
If you read fanfic you probably call that Old Story “enemies to lovers” or some other approximation of this thing humans have shared as long as we have been human.
this anime was just awesome
1 second in and I'm all ready crying cause of the way they say the name 💀
Rip nevon
Great vid
Elias is ✨wholesome✨
Honestly this is the best anime I've ever watched from start to finish. And is the best one for character development
This is one of the best anime of all time. Love this from the first time I saw any of it.
20:18 that moment made me cry so much
This anime is so unique, i can't really think of an anime similar to this out of all the 200+ animes ive watched
Magus Bride was such an amazing show. So beautiful.
This is the truest gems of gems
Wow. Now that I know that this one is full of creatures and spirits from gaelic lore, I'm definitely going to watch this! 😍
This isn't really slice of life - it's a classical romance story. Elias and Crise are slowly falling in love. And Elias is slowly gaining emotions.
I feel sick of how the main character always passes out every 5 minutes just by doing anything
She's a sleigh beggy
I recommend anybody that has not seen this anime to watch it the animation to this anime is so beautiful I can't describe it
This comment isn't gonna be related to the video but Ani, might I suggest that you create playlists for recap videos that have become somewhat of a series? Like the series with Iruma going to Demon School? I feel like that way a lot of us would be able to watch recaps better when a certain band of videos is sorted and packed all into one playlist
This is something I would DEFINITELY watch
and a new season is announced!
1:19 wait hold up say his name again
Simon Cullum 😅

Wow I didn't know much about this anime but now I do
I dont care if Elias Ainsworth is a half-baked creature, I am a SIMP
Ngl, the love between Joel and Red was super wholesome.
I mean, she drained his life force. But I think that was unintentionally and had genuinely grown a love for Joel, and Joel had appreciated the company in his final days.
4:33 I’d never think to see a reference to a Shakespeare story in a anime
This show looks SO GOOD! ☺️
This is my favorite anime I've watched out of all the other animes I've watched.
RUclips be getting real comfortable with the double unskippable ads…
Ah.. yes,
Finally, some good fucking anime.
Ancient magus is an awesome show
I loved this anime! Sad it never got a second season.
It has a very slow release Ova arc at the moment, and the manga is still in the college arc that's mentioned at end of the anime. Its a great story, but material for the main story-line is so slow to release :(
@Terat Ophelia There is a 2nd Season confirmed. It will air in April 2023.
When it said "Titania, queen of the fairies." It reminds me of Erza Scarlet, from Fairy Tail
Not gonna lie, this anime ALMOST made me cry.
Highly recommended for the newcomers weeb
@Vlurred when people are angry about those who have hobbies and braincells
I can't believe they are making a season 2 of this anime. I am excited!!
"Adopt an orphan"
"Marry said orphan?"
"Profit???"
this is on my list for the top anime I've seen
My favorite show, it's almost flawless
ngl i kinda get the antagonists goal. i wouldnt want to live forever. after about 1000 years its gonna get boring
Nice videos by the way
the Woolybug is adorable!
I need the name!!!
I think the magus represents Fey quite well. Sometimes appreaing almost human, but being entirely not human at all.
still one of my top 3 anime i've ever seen
"Alice ask elius to help cartafilius" omfg that was tongue twister
What is your posting schedule 😅😅
Nice story telling again. I don't remember when I started watching nor when it ended.
The Ancient magus bride thats the first anime series i ever watched! It’s just been months since i last watched it-
Okay this a great story! Especially the love story bit. Reminds me oh Hellsing and how Integra, Seras, Alexander and Walter change Alucard for the better even though half of them are his enemies. Does this comparison make sense? Maybe not but I’ll stick with it.
