Good video and a fun topic, but you're largely incorrect. This is not a dogwhistle, it's an allusion. The term "Pod" comes from "Pod Living". Pod Living refers to the more-affordable housing solutions that first gained some traction in late 2019 to early 2020 in response to the booming cost of living in urban environments. Living in "Pods", which are a small, semi-private sleeping space (often just a bed), connected to a larger communal area, has been promoted as an alternative to real housing by some journalists and media organizations. In reality, nobody wants to live in these small, nearly public, housing environments. They're not a solution to the rising cost of living or the housing crisis. The use of the word "Pod" in this context is almost always referring to these single-bed housing solutions. The "dogwhistle" is in reference to the skyrocketing price of housing as rich investors and corporate capital continue to hoard residential land. The concept is that those without money will be soon forced to either pay exorbitant prices for standard housing or live in... pods. I've heard this term used on all sides of the political spectrum, so I'm not really sure where you're getting this information that the concept of pod living (or references to it) is a dogwhistle for any political side. The argument could be made that the term has gained some new meaning, but it never strays far from the central idea: the real cost of housing is rising, so therefore people must live in smaller housing. Living in a pod is the largely extrapolated and sensational consequence of this trend.
If you tell them, then they no longer believe we are dogwhistling all over the internet and the discourse becomes a lot less amusing. When we get accused of dog whistling, we immediately know the type of person we are engaging. It's been very useful.
the issue is a lot of people who believe in this conspiracy of a “secret cabal of elites” are of the belief that these “elites” are all jewish people, and that they’re secretly scheming to takeover. I think sometimes they also incorporate other minorities in this conspiracy? It’s basically “anybody that i don’t like is actually all-powerful and oppressing *me* actually.” It gets antisemitic real quick, and it draws a *lot* of very racist fascists. So yeah, that’s what makes them “troublemakers” with “bad intent” lol
someone with this kind of outlandish, almost supernatural conspiratorial thinking is likely to engage with and spread several other narratives of doubt and fear. these types of ideas can take root in people's minds and end up causing real material harm. this extreme distrust of institutions leads some people to not take medicine out of a sense of rebellion, or to cause violence from a feeling that their government has abandoned them. and that's not to mention the immense mental harm that comes from living in such a constant state of paranoia. these ideas need to be identified and recognized so that people can prevent themselves the harm of falling for conspiracy.

Considering how big cities departments are getting smaller and more expensive, I don't see what is fake

Fascinating! The RW can complain about housing affordability and still be condemned!

The term gives too much power to small groups of people

What? No we used to talk about evangelical christians as "pod people", because they were hatched from pods like the Body Snatchers.
Interesting! Why would people who are worried about pods necessarily be "troublemakers" or have "bad intent?"
