Vinny you stole my heart 5 mins in ... "Are we breath of the wilding or ubisofting; anyways ubisoft said gamers should get used to not owning their games; ubisoft should get used to gamers not buying their games!" ~ 10 out 10 video!
I have to admit, while I won't deny the game has jank, there's something about the way Pals interacted with the gameplay loop that captivated me. Feels like a strong blend of Legends Arceus' free-roam mechanics and how you could use Pokemon to break rocks and trees for items, and the mechanics of something like Satisfactory or Factorio by having the Pals gather and transfer resources for you. There is some great potential here, and I might end up giving it a try when the game comes out (through Game Pass though, because I don't think it's worth spending money on it quite yet) The only thing I'm really bummed out by is the lack of cel-shading like in the very first trailer. The game looks fine, but the cel-shading would've made it stand out more imo. Maybe they'll address that closer to the game's 1.0 release, but that's hard to say.
Damn watching a T-Rex with massive mammaries punching a pokemon-sheep thingy to death and rolling its body down a hill is something 2023 has prepped me for. I didn't even question why Vinny had to do that.
The devs should implement a mechanic where if you rely too much on pals and not on actual character progression, the pals revolt and launch a full on attack on your character.
This and Craftopia are prime examples for proof that there is ZERO excuse for a shitpost or asset flip to be a bad game with no effort put into it. This is both a shitpost AND an asset flip and it manages to be a good game.
Game looks genuinely pretty good and way past expectations - definitely looking at picking this up on full release/after some updates for some multiplayer shenanigans!

In theory I don't hate the concept of a more realistic, slightly edgier take on a pocket monster world, I think we've all boredly picked apart the real world logistics of Pokémon at one point or another. I hope this game doesn't tarnish the idea of such a concept, since I think there's potential for a good game to come out of this idea.
@@robertwyatt3912 I'd argue it's hard not to make a game like this without being a little edgy, but maybe that's just the modern hyperfocus on "cringe" polluting my brain. I will give you that to commit to a premise like this, you do have to own the bit. I've seen lots of jokes about why Team Rocket wouldn't just kick the shit out of Red for infiltrating their base, or make their Pokémon attack him instead of his Pokémon, or why Red's Charizard couldn't just flambé the entire Team Rocket base with all the Team Rockets in it, but I think if you actually make a game like that, you'd be hard pressed not to get some eyerolls from people thinking that's a bit tasteless or poor form. Don't get me wrong, I do want somebody to make a game exploring those questions, but I won't pretend I can't see why someone might remark "Ow the edge" if a game came out where the bad guy team could just beat up your protag or shoot your pocket monster in the head.

@@wep_vs I mean, it's in the top-five of all time. That's still crazy, considering it's bumping elbows with the likes of DOTA 2 and such.
@@Armameteus true, and about 10 minutes ago it achieved third place! That's some love from the community
There is some great potential here, and I might end up giving it a try when the game comes out (through Game Pass though, because I don't think it's worth spending money on it quite yet)
The only thing I'm really bummed out by is the lack of cel-shading like in the very first trailer. The game looks fine, but the cel-shading would've made it stand out more imo. Maybe they'll address that closer to the game's 1.0 release, but that's hard to say.
This game - a bastard mashup of Rust, Breath of the Wild and Pokemon - has no business being as good as it is.
> Start game with custom characters
> Immediately makes Thicc Lucca
What could've Binny Pizzapasta meant by this?
Damn watching a T-Rex with massive mammaries punching a pokemon-sheep thingy to death and rolling its body down a hill is something 2023 has prepped me for. I didn't even question why Vinny had to do that.
The devs should implement a mechanic where if you rely too much on pals and not on actual character progression, the pals revolt and launch a full on attack on your character.
I love how chat has said nothing but the true about what you can do in game, but every time Vinny just takes it as jokes or lies
I dont know the exact time but the moment when one Pal carried his other Pal to the bed to rest got me. Edit: 2:02:50
The thing that kills me is seeing it moments later, while vinny's in the menu; its sprinting off to get a meal.😂
This and Craftopia are prime examples for proof that there is ZERO excuse for a shitpost or asset flip to be a bad game with no effort put into it. This is both a shitpost AND an asset flip and it manages to be a good game.
Same with slayers X
This game feels like a fever dream...
There are mods to play as Renamon and Krystal. That's reason enough to play it.
Imagine if you showed this game to PETA in 2014
I don't know if it's PETA but somebody's already gotten miffed and make an article over it, or so I think.
Holy crap Lois! It's pal world!
I guess that's Vinny's dream girl
he loves them extra thicc
as Vinny said who wouldn't
Enough folds to bunch up yourself a hole anywhere you like
Game looks genuinely pretty good and way past expectations - definitely looking at picking this up on full release/after some updates for some multiplayer shenanigans!
Minecraft with pokémon and guns... We barely started 2024 and we already have the GOTY.
Maybe it will give Gamefreak a wakeup call to not slack on Pokémon and give the games more dev time and not rush them out, but they know it’ll sell well anyway.
Reminds me to Starbound, which already has a monster capture system tbh.
@@brandonwilliams6119methinks ye have too much optimism

I'm not saying that PalWorld will be a good Pokemon competitor or even a good game; I'm just saying that even if a good non-Pokémon mon game appeared people would still ignore it for Pokémon, and Pokémon doesn't need to improve.
2:00:45 just the awe from the flamethrower fox
I love how everyone just kept being in awe of how thicc Thiccums was. The real life idol must be proud.
I assume Vinny never realizes he assigned the cat to punching that rock when he threw it off the ledge above.
I gotta be honest, I really respect that this game has the balls to exist. So long as they commit to it, I'll respect it way more then Pokemon that just pretends their world isn't messed up to the core XD
Committing to the bit despite the shady background of this particular studio, heh. We can at least appreciate streamers like vinny absolutely roasting what can be considered streamer bait.
The Pokedex freely admits to how messed up the world is all the time. Outside of that, yeah they gloss over dark elements pretty quickly.
Like Lt. Surge electrocuting people in "the war."
@@Gaia_BentosZX5 They have a development Timeline for their games and have been incredibly transparent. Literally me playing any mainline Nintendo game from the last 6 years except put the word "good" between "use" and "music"
The pals have solid designs, the animations are super expressive, they have to physically attack, and it's all in real time. This is leagues ahead of anything Gamefreak has put out in ages lol. This looks wonderful
Fr cant wait to try it out on gamepass
Yeah, easy to have solid designs when you're literally stealing them from the "lazy" GameFreak designers.
@@ElFreakinCid didn't gamefreak get there Pokémon designs from dragonquest?
Vinny, one day I will release the “Vinesauce FAKE CHAT theory”🚨🤨
Was reading an interview from the devs that went something like this:
Why guns?
“Americans like to shoot things”
Why the character creator sliders?
“Americans like to make ugly characters”
Everyone is just a stereotype.
They are correct in their assertions
By min 52 that cat meow was making me break down like Mike Stoklasa watching the jack frost video.

Not from the Italian translation, at least.

The game needs something more than just "Pokemon with Guns and it's kinda good" to stand out. The novelty is going to wear off really quick.

This game stretches the term “inspiration” to its absolute limits but it’s fun as hell
This game is just a fever dream.
This game isn’t edgy, it just takes the joke extremely seriously. It is 100% committed to the bit.

Would definitely recommend building bases on flat, wide expanses for the time being. My base is on a flat foundation and has relatively few bugs. My friends all built their bases on mountain sides and their pals get stuck and have pathing issues constantly. But as a long-time Pokemon fan, this is my favorite Pokemon game I've played in years
I'll give it this much: if this were running on whatever godforsaken hell-engine pokemon runs on, it would be chugging at a smooth 15 fps
