Yes, I used to check the straightness of the guitar 🙈 But I used to check the ups-n-downs along the length of fret board & also the twisting too! 😌
I often use major-minor barrè chords on & after the level of 5th fret just to get the feel of the notes on the lower end of fretboard... IDK how I got this and I don't know the very technical aspect of that too (but I just go with listen and feel good sense to check it)!
