Amazing Knowledge. I used to work as a manager at a High Street retailer. I did love selling quality garments from Burberry, Thomas Burberry, Aquascutum amongst lots of other brands. The late 90s were amazing.
Amazing haul and great info, love finding Burberry but always expensive in Surrey charity shops. Saw a trench coat the other day hanging up high and had to ask for the price. Was priced at £250, told it was vintage and that's what they sell for on eBay. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry! Found a similar Aquascutum coat with zipped in liner for £20 and a Polo Ralph Lauren Silk and Cashmere herringbone jacket for £10 earlier in the day so didn't get too upset.
Rolex did a very similar thing with their watches, having testimonies from people who swam the channel, climbed Everest and broke the land speed record. With the way advertising was back then, this was the best way to get your brand name and reliability out there!
This was a common practice for most luxury items at the time as it was pretty much the only way of promoting your products back then apart from newspapers/magazines etc 🙌🏻
Such amazing knowledge you both have Those pieces you showed are outstanding finds. I have only ever found Burberry once in my local charity shop and that was several years ago. Would love to see a video like you mentioned on souring from a individual. It’s good to see a mix of different ways to source. Your return on your sales may sound a lot but factoring in all the hard work of sourcing cleaning listing storing dispatching and fees and taxes etc if it’s your only job then you need these amazing finds. Hope you find some gems at the boot fair if you go
Yaaaaaay!! Thank you for the byyyyyye. It's a thing now. Great information on Burberry. Love the networking that you do. Build and grow relationships, it's a must 🥰
I think the “cape fastening” on the coat is a throat tab, inspired by hacking jackets - it was originally to keep your neck protected from the wind and rain
Epaulettes :) your welcome, just picked up a Burberry's cashmere nova check scarf for £3.50 from the charity shops, someone missed the tag hahahaha i wouldn't normally laugh but it's not like they don't price everything wayyy too high anyway, lucky to find Burberry without them having a bonfire lols :)
Interesting video, I'm researching Burberry at the moment after picking up a 1/4 zip Burberry golf jacket. I'm pretty much certain it's a genuine one as its embroidered with the 2001 open championship Lytham St Annes logo ( I can't imagine anyone would be faking such a specific top). All black with the check pattern as slightly different shades of black that you have to get the right lighting to see. Best of all it was £10😂
im binge watching again and getting nothing done ..looking forward to meeting you both ..i talk alot so i doubt any of us will be able to finish our sentences x
Really informative video about the brand thanks. Have you done a video about your employment backgrounds in the fashion industry asI joined your channel later than others and am not aware of one. I am going sourcing for a week in Norfolk from Sunday.
We have briefly spoken about our careers in luxury fashion on previous podcasts never have done a video on this…… we will try and sort something soon ❤️❤️
@@theluxurypickers That will be brilliant. I remember you mentioned you had worked with Vivienne Westwood but I think your viewers would really like more background. Thanks for considering it.
Hi great informitive video guys, thanks. Question What do you know about Piero Guidi leather jackets?, i picked one up for £10 and its like new without tags, all i know about it is its italian, do you know if it would be worthy of Vestiare, or is it a bust?
