I created this back then with Blackfencer. The idea was to make a lighter trainingsword for two reasons: 1. beginners who are bit of overwhelmed by the standard Broadsword they had and 2. to have a training sword more suited for the Regimental style of Broadsword fencing. So this was based on different models of Military Backswords of the mid-18th Century. Blackfencer did an excellent job to work this one from my ideas and I was quite happy that they were putting it into their standard line of synthetic swords.
Can therefore totally agree to all points in this video 👍

I had Blackfencer put their Highland broadsword blade on the regimental hilt. Its a really nice sword so far and a fun change from the lighter 1803s

That's a nice idea. I bet that blade with the edge profile option would also be really good.

@@AcademyofHistoricalFencing I live in a very small town in the USA, so I wouldn't be able to find others to join me. More importantly, I have health problems, so I can only do things for ten or fifteen minutes at a time. Then I have to rest for a while. In a typical hour-long class, I'd only be participating for ten or twenty minutes. I've lost my job, so I have to be careful about how I spend money. I can last a little longer on my feet if I use a cane as a balance aid. I guess there's nothing in the rules saying that I can't hold a sword in my right hand while using a cane in my left hand.
If I lived near someone who wanted to do it, I'd probably give it a try. I'd have no movement and would tire quickly. I'd basically be target practice, but I'd probably still have some fun. I'd lose my balance and fall occasionally, but that's life. I'd still enjoy trying to see whether I could do some of the parries, thrusts, and cuts.
Intruders broke into my home a few years ago. The way I yelled made them think that I had my gun on my person, and they left. If they'd pressed forward, I'd be dead. Now, I almost always have a gun at my side, but I still like having some skill in other weapons. I also appreciate the skills just for what they are.

Sorry to hear that. Perhaps you could try doing some solo work at home? The HEMA at home series I ran during the lockdowns covers about half of the Roworth manual. You can do all of that without a partner and you would need nothing more than a stick or similar to go through the drills. You could do it at your own pace then. A lot can be learned through these solo exercises and they are excellent for conditioning and muscle memory also.

@@AcademyofHistoricalFencing Thanks, I may give that a try. I have a polymer sword that I bought a few years ago for photography. I sometimes like to let models pose with swords, but in a public place, a metal blade can draw attention from people who like to make a fuss. I figured that a polymer blade would keep the police from making a fuss and could be adjusted in editing to look good enough. I also have a few "wall hanger" metal swords that I bought as photography props for shooting in my home "studio." I'll try to find that series on your channel. I may try to do some of them. The movement would be good for me according to all of my medical people.
