You guys are so skilled. I’m a long time water lover. I rafted on a class 4 (North Fork of the Yuba River) and did great. A few people did not and quit. It was a guided tour. A year later, I was on a class 3 with my young son. It was also guided but this was on the Kern River. The class 3 is where I came the closest to losing my life. Our raft went over a rock ledge sideways and it dumped everyone out. I was caught in the “washing machine.” I tried to kick when I saw light, but it was too deep. What saved me was giving up. It relaxed my body enough that I was thrown out and started on down the river. My lungs were full of water. The guide pulled me out. I swear I was calling “help” but they said nothing came out. After I recovered, I knew that was my final water adventure. I now do other things. I learned to respect nature and all she offered, even though I was almost caught. For a while, I could not hear the sound of a rapid without reacting. I am back to normal. Know you give me (and others) the fix I need for observing nature in places very few have seen. Thank you for that!

Jim! Amazing video and trip as always. You guys are the real deal. Let me guide you and this crew down the Juruena River in Brasil. I can provide proof I spent a month paddling it with NOLS in 2011. Stunningly beautiful with incredible biodiversity and landforms. Up to class 6 endless whitewater, with incredible complexity and diversity along a relatively short run. Due to the geology of its watershed the water is crystal clear, allowing aquatic life to be seen with the naked eye in 30 feet of water. The footage you could get there would make Nat Geo jealous, and do a service to documenting the area's grandeur to a wider audience. I'm not a bot, dead serious, can provide proofs of experience and credentials, and would do it for absolutely free.

We just got home from a week of fishing in Ontario. Our boat that goes out for muskies and northerns didn’t catch a single fish, other than the one my son caught. The mayflies hatched 2 days before we got there and the weeds were out of control. 1230 mile round trip for no fish. Thems the breaks! 🤷

Shot happens, it all turned out pretty good considering.

Great video. Brings back memories. A friend and I paddled it 50 years ago. There was very little sign of previous paddlers, though I knew 2 guys from my hometown that had done it. We hunted for portages, but a lot of it was bushwhacking. We attempted it 1 year in May but the water was dangerously high and we wisely backed out. We went back the following August. We waded a lot of the boney rapids. The only fish we caught were Northerns in a wide stretch of the river.

Just so everyone out there is aware, especially people just getting into the sport of canoeing and back country travel, that although this crew disguises themselves in the cloak of "Can-knuckleheads"...what they are doing is advanced and shouldn't be attempted until your fully seasoned and certainly not recommended to do alone unless your well versed.
