- Freesias, from my Flowers series, back from 2021. A series very special to me, as these were first artworks I’ve drawn after my Mom’s sudden passing.
It was also kind of an important art milestone for me. I learnt a lot in the years before (working as an art director and leading a team since 2019, learning a ton from my teammates), and was finally in a much better place skill-wise than before. Like, understanding the balance between stylization and blind realism, embracing more roughness and texture instead of overpolishing and ending up with flat, stiff results. I also started toning down contrast to achieve greater color variety and better palettes - forcing myself to choose colors within a narrower range, no wider than 50% of the scale, and often closer to 25%, which made them work better. Less is more ;)

I’m uploading my older timelapses because I recently learnt that AI can now generate fake process videos, which sucks. I see no reason for it other than to trick people. For now they look like crap, and aren’t convincing. Still, I want my timelapses posted online before AI will inevitably get better at fooling people with those.
I get the appeal of generating pretty images without putting in the years of work-it’s instant gratification. But cheating with fake timelapses? What’s the goal? A job in the industry? Real skill gaps will show fast. Internet recognition? Everyone cheating this way gets the same generic results - it’s obvious. Real progress takes years of learning to see and fixing your own mistakes. When you cheat, the skill discrepancies stand out: usually it's suddenly perfect proportions with weak colors or wonky lines. You can’t fake experience and hard work, not in the long run. Not where it truly matters. At least for now.
