What is really neat, is some phrasing in the scriptures always seemed to mean more and Butler's work helps to put depth to it. I guess it would qualify as being done in the learning of the jews.
Edit: also a valuable thing to know about scriptures are the layers by which you can examine passages.

Oh Dave, he invents new explanations whole cloth that don't exist in any version of the text. But if they make him feel good about the BoM and able to ignore the million other issues that's good for him.

A lot of this is over my head so I'm not sure if Dave is saying that Melchizedek was not "the King of Salem", Salem being a physical place, but Dave references Alma 13:18, that says "therefore [Melchizedek] was called the prince of peace, for he was the king of Salem", verse 17 says, "Now this Melchizedek was a king *over the land of Salem.*"

In the end, you can transform any biblical story into a theater play and thus into a temple ritual. This is basically done in the York Rite of Freemasonry. But that doesn't prove that any of this ever was a temple rite, or that it should be. Expert tip: if you read the ritual of the Royal Arch degree, you will find shocking parallels to both the temple and the origin story of the Church.

in the ancient world, books or scrolls were scare and having important stories to tell would have been common in every culture. If I point out something I disagreed with in his presentation, will my comment be deleted?

I believe the correct understanding of John 8:58 is Jesus claiming to have existed before Abraham, not claiming to be the Exodus 3:14 "I AM". One of many evidences of this is 4 verses before where Jesus directly claimed to be the SON of the God that the Jews worship. Well, they worship Jehovah, so Jesus claimed to be the SON of Jehovah, not Jehovah himself
I realize that is confusing because in scripture Jesus speaks as Jehovah, and is spoken of as Jehovah. Why cannot the resurrected Jesus and his Father both be a Jehovah? A son becomes like his father.
In Matthew 28:18 Jesus is GIVEN all power in heaven and earth AFTER his resurrection. In Acts 5:31 Jesus is EXALTED AFTER his resurrection. In Phil 2:9 Jesus is given the NAME above all other names [Jehovah in English] AFTER his resurrection. In Rev 3:21 both Jesus and his Father have their own throne-- which implies two Jehovahs. There is strong evidence in the OT of two Jehovahs.
