Using the POV camera is a wonderful way to demonstrate hand made crafts such as this. It allows the viewer to see just what you see and therefore, just what they should see as they attempt to replicate it. (I always had a hard time learning knots when looking at someone else doing it in front of me.) Beautiful video.
This was actually really helpful. A lot of origami videos do half of the shape, then they time skip to near the end, as if we know how to do the middle part. When they do that, it's very annoying, but you actually showed the entire process. I sincerely thank you for that. Also, the icosahedron is very pretty. Thank you for showing the world how to make this beautiful piece of art.
Muchas gracias, me sirvió mucho, a los que se les complica les doy un tip, miren cada papelito tiene que tener 2 papelitos introducidos ( entrelazados) de cada color, así ya saben dónde poner ahora o introducir los papelitos y ya.
I tried making this with other videos but only this one went through each step and now I finally finished making it. It looks awesome! Thank you for the video!
At first, let me say.. it was R.A.G.I.N.G! But I got hand of it! Thanks Origamite for teaching me awesome origami stuff. Ive been in origami for 3 years (started at 9 years old) and lately its hard to find stuff at my level. Again, thanks Origamite!
To make it perfectly even all the way round, you actually need 32 pieces to continue the five-point pattern without ending up with six on the bottom. Good instructions overall though.
+Origamite - Origami Video Instructions can you make me one and give me one i tried to make one but i failed it and im sad can you pleaze male mo one if not its ok i understand 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I have been trying to make this since April! And no matter how many times I tried I kept screwing it up. That is until tonight. All of a sudden it just clicked, I finally understood what the video was trying to show me. I'm so glad I stuck with it. Now I have a sparkly and beautiful Icosahedron!
Thank you for this video that I have to do to send a teacher that I can't do. I am Thai. 55 Thank you for the video. I understand and work to send the teacher successfully.😝
I had to do this for part of an art project at school and the teachers instructions where as clear as mud. Luckily I found this tutorial, it helped a lot. Maybe I'll be passing art now, :P. Thanks.
with the first little uniting united to the second, at half of the video i drew my own conclusions, AND IT WORKED!!! so now i am so happy thank you so much for that you made this tutorial, never have done anything clearer!! :) but the only thing that i didn't like was that you went a bit too fast :(
It depends how big you want the finished ball to be. I used origami paper that was 6" square for my first try and the end result was a ball between 7-8" diameter. If you want a cute little one like in the video, you have to start with smaller squares.
so i divided post-it notes into 4 equal squares, used 5 different colours (6 units each) , and add an embellishment seen in peter keller's video (size is 1/8 of post-it notes) (ruclips.net/video/tlX0m75FTTM/видео.html) . the mini sonobe that came out is pretty awesome !! i'm working towards an even smaller one !!
You know how when you looked at it from that one side there were 5 pyramids in a circle? And the other one you made with 12 pieces has 4? Can you keep going, making one w/6, 7, etc?
I took over 6 hours for me to make this bc i kept getting frustrated and just restarting bc i kept losing track where i was bc im stupid and it was going just a tiny bit fast but i got there in the end
This is awesome! It took a while but I got the hang of it! @Origamite I have a follow up question: Can I make the same or a different modular origami with ruclips.net/video/JE7d8PgXexY/видео.html as a unit? I have many of these already made and I would like to make something bigger using it. Any direction/resource will be of great help! Thanks a lot :)
The point of it not being perfect is so you know how to do it. It would take more time to fold every crease perfectly, when the point of the video is just to instruct.
This is technically NOT an icosohedron, but rather an icosohedral star... Basically, if you: 1) build a regular icosohedron, and then 2) tape/glue a regular tetrahedron onto each of the 20 triangular sides, then you build something like this, an icosohedron star.I (Sorry, I'm kind of a geometry nut. Lol)
How many people made the Modular Origami Icosahedron? Please leave a comment!
I made it! Also first time and it was easy!

I need help. Every time I try to put it together it starts looking like a rectangle. I need a solution to fix my problem.
I made it and I’m very proud of myself I did an amazing job I got a bit confused for putting it together but I did it
Fun to make! I was confused at first, but once I saw the pattern everything fell into place. Thanks for the vid!
Hi, very well explained, thanks
My granddaughter FINALLY got this but as a tutorial it might help if these had numbers on the tips so you could follow it more easily.
great tutorial only thing i struggled with was how the last unit was put in place but I got it! Thanks!

Im in the process of making one right now. What are the different options for piece counts? 6, 32 i saw one with 90. Is it 90 even?
Wait so I'm suppose to take a piece of paper make it into a square then make that into 4 squares?
yes
Size doesn’t matter, just follow the video’s instructions ngl
It depends how big you want the finished ball to be. I used origami paper that was 6" square for my first try and the end result was a ball between 7-8" diameter. If you want a cute little one like in the video, you have to start with smaller squares.
Great video
this was pretty cool origami ball
Took an hour and a half to make but it was worth it
Thanks! #staysafe
Wow great creasing ;)
Firtst I thought that I will not make it but I did and it was awesome and amazing thanks for making a great video thanks for sharing it with us :)
I do it! Thank u❤

6 would become all flat I’ve tried but a combo of 5 and 6 works. I based one off of a soccer ball and it worked
can i use glue to hold the units in place?
you can but that is not the point and it will not hold and look as good
can you do something that uses these pieces, but is of a higher difficulty?
Loved it!
is it possible to make the bigger version of this? a 6 point star? how many units would yo need
0:15 units
Sounds so easy !! But when You want to make it !! No way :-( !! I Hope One day i get it
Lina Boshof its not that hard
OMG THIS IS PISSING ME OFF!!!
How many units of each colour?
Que wen contenido , aunque casi me desmaio:'v
I have 15x15 paper, will it still work?
I don’t get how 30 units is enough to completely assemble it . . . What am I doing wrong?
I know I'm probably about to sound really stupid but how many inches is 9 cent.?
Jrx999 or Thomas Pestano 9 centimeters =
3.54330709 inches
I took over 6 hours for me to make this bc i kept getting frustrated and just restarting bc i kept losing track where i was bc im stupid and it was going just a tiny bit fast but i got there in the end
same haha
It was easy
There is like putting of other measures and it remains of 30 feet
Is this shape a stalled icosahedron?
Yes. It is the same
Does this work with post it notes?
My teacher gimme this thing for the project and 3hrs later i still cant do it
Same here! I'm trying sooo hard
Hi, what do you do?
dude, totes amazeballz
Can someone please help me make 1 with 6 colors and 5 pieces each? please

You went way too fast and with no explanation and where things should fold. Ended up getting an oval and getting frustrated.
