Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is a new metroidvania game from the creators of Touhou Luna Nights. It's been on Steam's Early Access for a whole year and I had a good amount of requests to play it, but I was waiting until it would get fully released. And today it's finally out! If you played Luna Nights or watched my videos about it, you can notice these 2 games share quite a lot of things in between themselves. Although the combat and the bosses are a little different - Deedlit lacks typical Touhou bullet hell elements and is more reminiscent of Symphony of the Night and other older Castlevanias.
Will there be an alternate ending if you did not died in the whole run? I want to try it because in act 6 Deedlit is asked that "You experience dead, too".(I play on other language so it's not the real script) So maybe...
The message here is that living in the past hinders your present and your future, especially if you don't learn from it. Since Deedlit is a long-lived elf, this is especially true for her because her human lover passed on many years ago.
It's not as impactful for Deedlit as it would be for a human. She's immortal, no matter how many years she waste living in her past, she will still have the rest of eternity to make up for it. She could waste a thoussand years, it wouldn't really matter because she will always have the time to heal and catch up. A mortal doesn't, if you waste 10 years, it's not just ten years you can never get back but also ten years taken from the limited time you have on Earth.
Record of Lodoss War inspired many modern-day cliches in Japanese RPG fantasy stories and video games. Deedlit became a standard for elf design in anime and manga while Parn was the classic example of an idealistic heroic fighter! Several well-known Japanese voice actors such as Yumi Touma (Deedlit), Takeshi Kusao (Parn), Kappei Yamaguchi (Etoh), Norio Wakamoto (Woodchuck) and Yoshiko Sakakibara (Karla) had roles in the original 1990 OVA.
It's also _Dungeons & Dragons_ as all fuck (what with originating in tabletop gaming sessions, not unlike the _Dragonlance_ novel series in the West) and probably at least partially responsible for JP FRPG tropes still being pretty solidly stuck in ancient early-edition D&D paradigms. Like seriously from most games and manga/anime alike you'd think they haven't imported and translated new editions after about 1990...
Even the moveset and Character walking remember the alucard of symphony. And know what?! Its ok! If you want to inspiring, inspiring in something good.
@@vicio19995 Record of Lodoss War, as the title states. Whoa whoa whoa hold on where the hell has this been all my life?! And it’s leaving early access?! Well it looks like I have something to do in quarantine!
It's strange how I now remember Deedlit never actually meet Pirotess. The dark elf I was thinking of was the one that died in Ashrams arms when he was falling into the Volcano.
the animations remind me of castlevania symphony of the night ngl. the sword swinging to the cloak /movement animations and the duck. WOw the music too.
Best as I can tell, this would mark the furthest entry in the Lodoss timeline(s), depending on whether this or Legend of Crystania comes last; it certainly takes place after the events of the Lodoss OVA/TV series, and even the Dreamcast game (haven't read all the mangas yet, if any of those have anything to clarify about this).
If I understand right, it'd have to take place after Crystania. Because its after just about everyone from previous Lodoss canon has died except for Deedlit and Pirotess due to their longevity as elves. This would include Ashram, who was an important character in Crystania (And I think might've died in it. I don't know, never saw it.)
@@GreenTengu97 That could be the case; Ashram's fate at the end of Crystania is somewhat ambiguous; his body inert while his soul is implied to be continuing to battle Barbas in the chaos plane, with Pirotess still waiting for him.
I'd gladly see what happened to Parn after all the canon stuff. Maybe some when in time he got killed, some things Deeds say in this game would somehow imply so
@@GreenTengu97 Actually, this game takes place about 100 years after the original story since the ending is set up leading to the latest novel of the franchise. So in other words, Barbas is still in Ashram's body for 200 more years.
