Can't wait to see the update on this tree. I have 2 old trees I'm planning on doing the same with since they have so much bark damage above 3 feet on the trunk. Also never heard of the idea of a bridge graft. I have some pears with some sun scald damage and will try to repair with some bridge grafts. Thanks for your inspiration!
Hi Starrtraveler. Yes I do need to do an update on that apricot tree. It has managed to produce several new branches and I hope it keeps on growing back healthy every year. It was unfortunate that such a bug branch broke off of it and caused the rest of the branches to dry up.
You are very welcome, I'm glad that my videos can provide some kind of help to someone 😊 and thank you so much for the compliments, it really helps my channel to grow and get out to more audience.
We actually mix white latex and joint compound. We get a lot of bark splitting on young trees due to sun scald from the snow reflecting the sun on to lower bark on warm spring days. Then the bark freezes from the cold night and pops the bark. Painting helps with that as well as borers.
I can't seem to find out the name on the knife, because it's in Japanese, but I do know that the stainless steel blade is made out of 4cr14 stainless. Holds its sharpness for thousands of cuts. I really like it
What season is best to do this in should you definitely trip b4 winter regardless?
You can cut back this hard when the tree is dormant but it will also work in early spring and even in early summer ☀️

I looked on your channel but I don't see a update on this tree you cut . I would like to see a update on it
Hello Gary, yes I'm trying to make that video
Man, I know that hurt! Hopefully the tree recovered and will give you another 10 years at least.
Try painting your trunks with white latex paint. That could deter the woodpeckers from drilling. As well as other borers and sun scald.
Thank you for the advise. That actually makes sense

@@nhmountains5683 Oh, this is awesome, thank you for the advice. Sounds very logical. I will have to do that on some of my other trees as well.
Do you have an update of this tree?
Hi Thomas, yes I do have a video in the works for this tree. I'll try to post it soon
What brand knife do you have there? I’m looking for a new grafting knife
i will let you know in a little bit

What did u spray?
Hello there! 👋 you mean to seal the cut?
Do you think your tree might have some sort if disease?
Hi Natalia, no just physical damage, just because it's obvious, but you never know. Thank you for your comment 🙏
