Although it might seem that these attempts to rationalize faith , be it in the Gayatri mantra or something else , using "scientific" criteria is something unique to these times of worldwide technological ubiquity, this has been depicted even in our Puranic lore with Hiranyakashipu demanding the proof of his senses while Prahlada just believed in Vishnu out of his Love.
There are multiple issues to be noted here :
1. The first and most crucial one is that this attitude that something should be chanted because it's useful or will give something is false at best and dangerous at it's worst. It can send sadhakas down a spiritually acquisitive path...think Ravana.
2. If ,as in this video, one is citing scientific methods then even a rudimentary knowledge of experimental protocols suggests that that is not a true controlled scientific study. For instance, better experimental constructs would be to have a control group of people chanting something neutral like say the multiplication table and then another control group not chanting anything and perhaps yet another one focusing on something negative...then if you test all of them and decide the Gayatri mantra chanting group is still calmer then it is a better approximation of the scientific method. I say approximation because even then there are issues with confounding variables etc.
My point above is basically to illustrate that personal belief does not need, in fact should not need scientific validation as it's a different paradigm entirely. On the other hand if someone is asking me to believe something citing "scientific proof" the scientist in me will definitely argue as above
In terms of proper experimental controls and confounding variables etc...
So not only can one not truly
scientifically prove that it's the gayatri mantra more crucially one doesn't NEED to prove that to anyone ...
It's enough to have faith it works.
May Swami help us channel our inner Prahlada and surrender to mother Gayatri rather than embarking on a Hiranyakashipu style fool's errand of looking for scientific proof .
Alternatively, the sing of praise is indeed needed at the best. You take any God's archana mantra, it praises some aspect of the god and ends with Namaha. The Bhakti yoga demands singing praise of God through songs, mantras, his stories, that's why prahalada story is still popular, it shows prahalda's bhakti inspite of everything and God's deeds with Prahalda. Gaythri Mantra itself is a praise to Almighty and seeks his help in nurturing the knowledge in us by shining his grace. The fruits of the deeds should not be thought by the sadhaka that is correct, but to make someone do some sadhaka you have to tell him the fruits. You have to say to a child eating green vegetables is good for your health and you will eventually study well to boost him in eating the greenaries, if you simply don't say anything, the child will eat junk food and doesn't know why it is important to eat the greenaries. But once the child grows up well, he knows eats it for his health, to protect from cardiovascular disease etc. Similar way sadhakas should be encouraged to let know, why you should do it and give hope and meaning to the process, only by doing things for long, you get to know it better, later you will do it inspite of outcomes as karma yoga. This is my take on it.

Prof. Anil Kumar: Swami! The Gayatri mantra is being chanted over many ages here in this holy land. But, we hear that women are prohibited from chanting Gayatri and so are non-brahmins.
Bhagawan: Everyone must chant the Gayatri. It transcends the barriers of caste, community, gender, nationality, time and space. It is the one mantra that all should repeatedly chant.

In ancient India it was compulsory to children's to chant gaytri mantra. Today our secular leaders will not make gaytri mantra in school.

Here's a short of my 'MMG':
In my work I had a situation of non-co-operation and this was affecting my work very badly.
I was being blamed for no real fault of mine, and my work progress was also hindered due to lack of co-operation.
I was feeling very sad that some thing is not ok, inspite of my hard work. The results were not at all satifactory :(
Sometime, before watching 'MMG', I used to get repeated dreams, in which I saw Ganesha idol, but I was not aware of the significance, and had ignored it!!. Then, Bhagawan somehow showed me the way by means of 'MMG' videos, I got inspired by this and started praying Ganesha to help me.
Very Soon, after such prayers to Ganesha,
suddenly, I don't know how!!, things became better themselves without any extra efforts of mine, I was doing my work as usual, I did nothing extra.
All the complaints against me went away. Expected co-operation also comes in time by some way or the other and my work gets accomplished very well, always ahead & beyond my expectations.
Suddenly many positive changes happened, the only new thing I did was to chant Ganesha prayers as and when possible in the day :)
Thus, Ganesha dispelled my negative situation, which I felt was never going to improve.
I am very happy & convinced that I found the best leader.
Definitely, this is Lord SAI Bhagawan and Ganesha's blessing :)
