Last spring, I travelled to Istria in Croatia. I was invited to attend the international wine exhibition called "Vinistra" in Porec. I had no idea about this region up until that day, but it was love at first sight! Istria is a mixture of different cultures and separates itself aesthetically from the rest of the country. All green nature full of vineyards, towns built next to the sea and others on top of hills, most of which still maintain their Italian names. Everything in Croatia is reminiscent of Italy; people here not only speak, but also act Italian. This is why it's often referred to as "the Balkan Tuscany".
