      @@RobRidesCargoBikes the ginkgo is awesome. super light and the big front wheel has a very positive effect on the bumps on the road. it rolls so easily over obstacles sweeppber the bullitt and the cargo bikes with small front wheel. only the payload is not like that of bullitt and co. i have a box with airline rails, go more in width than in height.

    • @RobRidesCargoBikes
      @RobRidesCargoBikes  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@romanknobel7370 Sounds really good! I'll be at the Velo Berlin show next month so hopefully there'll be one there that I can take for a test ride. I like the idea of the bigger wheels rolling better, especially as there are a lot of cobbled streets and bumpy back roads where I ride, and I very rarely go up to the maximum payload of the Bullitt anyway so I don't think I'd miss the 180kg limit. Ah well, I already have 2 cargo bikes, not sure I have room for a third!

      Hi Olly, glad you liked the video, thank you! I got the rubber feet from Amazon, though I imagine any place that sells wheelchairs, walkers and zimmerframes etc will have them. You'll need the 25mm tube diameter version, ideally with a metal washer in the bottom so you don't wear through it really quickly.

    Hi Rob, A well put together video and plenty of info. Quick question I'm thinking of doing the North Cape 4000 on a cargo bike just for the shizzz and giggles. what sort of speed can you maintain on that rig? 20+ KPH or is that a tad rich. Keep smiling JB

    • @RobRidesCargoBikes
      @RobRidesCargoBikes  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated 😄
      Wow, the North Cape 4000 would be a huge achievement on any bike, let alone a cargo bike! Good luck! Average speed is obviously highly dependant on load, but when it's empty, a sustained 28-30kph is doable on a still day. Once I start putting kids or other heavier things in then I'm down to mid-to-low 20's, though also bear in mind that my average journey is probably between 5-10km on flat routes, and nowhere near 4000km!
      Let me know if you need a place to camp in Berlin during the North Cape 4000 💪

      @@RobRidesCargoBikes cheers Rob, you are a total legend. May take the plunge and head to Copenhagen to test ride the Omnium and the Bullitt. I'm thinking frame set then build up with a few carbon bits. The load will be fairly light. If I time Berlin at a good time I'll help with your race diet. (Beer & Pizza) 😉

    • @RobRidesCargoBikes
      @RobRidesCargoBikes  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@jamesbicknell4706 Is there ever a bad time for beer and pizza? 😉
      I imagine you're probably already aware of Allan Shaw who did the Silk Road Mountain Race on an Omnium last year, may be worth checking out his setup if you're also looking at Omniums.
      I've also noticed an increasing trend of folk doing longer journeys on GinkGo cargo bikes. The bigger wheels will no doubt roll better than the smaller wheels of most other frontloading cargo bikes, so possibly another avenue to consider!

    • @jamesbicknell4706
      @jamesbicknell4706 8 месяцев назад +1

      I did look at the Ti Omnium but it's a tad rich and long waiting queue. But the Bullitt is starting to get under my skin. With a carbon steeper and possibly a ti steering rod......

    • @RobRidesCargoBikes
      @RobRidesCargoBikes  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@jamesbicknell4706 I totally understand the Bullitt getting under your skin! I'm not sure how easy it'd be to get your hands on a Ti steering rod, though this video would likely be your best bet: ruclips.net/video/RFRAi5Yze2c/видео.html
      Ittai used to post on some Bullitt owners groups and did a couple of limited runs of the Ti steering arms, but then he stopped posting and that video was the first time I'd seen him pop up for a while. I'd love one also, but am not really in a position to be chasing marginal gains on a cargo bike at the moment!

      @RobRidesCargoBikes  8 месяцев назад

      Honestly, I've never had a problem with wobbles/head shakes on this bike. Perhaps I'm just lucky, but it's very flat here and I rarely get over 35kph so also not really much chance of a potential speed wobble situation really. I do have a spare steering damper in my parts bin, but the Viscoset looks like a really clean solution if I ever need to go down that route.
