The Doors channel is the official RUclips home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.

I'm 70 years old and the Doors are still my favorite group. I can still remember when the radio stations just played the short version of Light My Fire. so that's all I thought it was. when I got the album and heard the long version of Light My Fire for the first time, it just blew me away. I still get a thrill to this day when I hear Light My Fire and many of the other Doors songs.

Jim Morrison was not gonna change up his music for no one including Ed Sullivan. Many of you guys wasn't born when they performed on the Ed Sullivan either the late 60s or early 70s. But I'm sure you heard about it. Anyway, Sullivan asked them to take out the verse "girl we couldn't get much higher" As the story goes, Morrison said, "sure Ed no problem"! But when they performed the song they went ahead and left it in. Ed was furious! He promised them that they would never appear in his show again. And they didn't. It was reported that Jim said, were not changing our music for no one!

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire

I was 11 years old when this album was released. My brother was 17. We were tight. Before headphones were being used. He had me lay down on his bedroom floor and put one speaker on either side of my head. I remember it like it was yesterday. The 70s were crazy/magical. Wouldn’t change a thing. RIP Jim. 😢❤

Album peaked at No. 2 on the chart in September 1967 (stuck behind the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) and going on to achieve multi-platinum status. It has sold over 13 million as of 2015. According to [John] Densmore, the Beatles had reportedly bought ten copies of the album, and Paul McCartney has claimed that following the album's release, he wanted his band to capture the Doors' musical style as one of the "alter egos" of the group for their upcoming concept album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doors_(album)
Side 1 is their best, with 5 of the 6 (for me) outstanding, and "LMF" anchoring the side. The one I dislike is "Soul Kitchen."

Most of “Light My Fire”* (1967) was penned by Doors guitarist Robby Krieger. He recalled : “I asked Jim [Morrison], what should I write about? He said, ‘Something universal, which won’t disappear two years from now. Something that people can interpret themselves.’ I said to myself I’d write about the four elements : earth, air, fire, water. I picked fire, as I loved the Stones […] ‘Play With Fire,’ and that’s how that came about.”
Krieger conceived the melody and put down most of the lyrics, which are about leaving inhibitions behind in flames 🔥 of passion.
Initially, the tune had a folk flavour, but if ignited when Jim Morrison created the second verse (“our love become a funeral pyre…”), and Ray Manzarek crafted the famous organ intro. Drummer John Densmore also contributed, setting the rhythm.
It became THE DOOR’S ANTHEM❕ Included on their first LP, it was a huge winner and launched them to sky-high stardom. “Light My Fire” really seized the attention of a mass audience.
On the album, the track ran 6:50. It was deemed too long for airplay, but radio stations got ample requests from listeners who heard it off the vinyl. So their label decided to issue a 2:52 version. A KNOCKOUT❕
Jim Morrison indicated in his notebooks that he disliked “Light My Fire” and hated performing it. He seemed to resent that the popularity of the band stemmed from that lay, which he had not worked much on.
This was the last song Jim Morrison played live. It took place at The Warehouse in New Orleans, December 12, 1970. Midway, he became exasperated and smashed his microphone 🎤 into the floor, ending the show. He passed away - untimely - less than a year later : July 3, 1971.
A movie titled “The Doors” (1991) was scripted and directed by Oliver Stone. Actor Val Kilmer portrayed Jim Morrison.
    A MONUMENTAL CLASSIC… THEN, NOW AND FOR AEONS‼️ 💙🔥💚
Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed will you remain, James Douglas Morrison (1943 - 1971)… 🌹
    * This was the first rock song featuring both guitar and keyboard in the instrumental section❕
