The Doors channel is the official RUclips home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.
I'm 30 years Old and I love this song..
Saturday 25/11/2023
I'm only 5 years old and it has been my favorite song since I first heard it.
🎉
I'm 70 years old and the Doors are still my favorite group. I can still remember when the radio stations just played the short version of Light My Fire. so that's all I thought it was. when I got the album and heard the long version of Light My Fire for the first time, it just blew me away. I still get a thrill to this day when I hear Light My Fire and many of the other Doors songs.
Beatifull Music ❤
Hey - me too! I was 15 when this was on the radio, I went out and bought the album. Looked exactly like it does in the video. Elektra records!
Me paso exactamente lo mismo
I’m 21, almost 22, I really was born in the wrong generation. This music sounds better than the majority of what we can really get nowadays!
@@reviewking4446 haha!! Glad you discovered them. I’m 64, always say I was born 10 years too late. ☮️
The instrumental part this song is just pure psychedelic magic!!
Hey Mr Torch i love this too......have a listen to "Walk on By" by Stanglers, it has the same energy and big f*****g instrumental kick ass section. Make sure you have headphones and.....play it loud.
Soundtrack to my year of mushrooms and lsd
psychedelic magic indeed !?!
Ray was great. R.I.P.
It really is. Definitely one of the best solos/interludes ever.
I would consider this one of the best songs of all time, The arrangement is exceptional and Jim Morrison really killed it on the vocals.
Yep. Ray's arrangement and solo are perfect. Robbies solo is so inspired and stream of consciousness, John was always the perfect drummer for their music and what can said about Jim that hasn't already been said? This song is perfect
Solo as well!
@@nocaster4747 John makes due with a small kit that's what makes him an amazing drummer he only has the snare and the Tom and some hi hats and cymbal crashes. His drumming in this album is superb. There is plenty of songs on this album that put him up there with some of the best drummers.
it's the best stoner song ever !!
I read the Jay Sugarman bio on Jim. Great book. Great man.
The year is 2022. This song is 55 years old, and still perfect!
I agree!
Yes sir this version makes me want to be 13 again
Classic
Você é muito sincero nas suas palavras
Got the album on CD, & another 5 Doors album on CD, too. A great band!!
Jim has the ability to make anything into a masterpiece, they took the organ to a different level.
It was Ray bro
@@anthonybautista9039 , very true but Jim contributed with great lyrics and amazing vocals.

It is 2023 and I still get a natural high listening to Light My Fire.❤
Me too, I get high now, thanks a lot from Hong Kong 🤗
I always find myself with a smile on my face at the end of the song. It’s just so perfect. The ending vocal is like an orgasmic explosion. Jim hit it perfectly and the Jam in the middle of the song is a journey thru all time, space and existence. You single? I need a soul mate who understands this song ✔️
Wow that's awesome 👍
One of those rare that will still be around in 100 yrs! I'm 72 and still remember the first time I heard it!
Isn't that awesome? Great-great-great-great grandkids will (SHOULD) know The Doors.
The melody, the melody, Jim's voice, the whole musical production, continues to make Light My Fire relevant to pop culture today. I am 72 and still playing this frequently.
From 1:17 to 5:53, the first real, extended jam in rock. But then again, The Doors debut album was a total revolution in rock. Every song on it was a masterpiece, in its own right. As for the album as a whole, It raised the bar of what rock was, and could be, to new heights! Absolutely stunning!!!
" Siento " Que solo te gusta el puente musical., Y esta bien es uno de los puente mas bellos de la música de los DOORS, En lo personal me gusta toda la composición.
Technically cream had the first extended jams with spoonful
@@JPproductions303, but Cream did not even write Spoonful. They added a long jam which was cool.
First jam??? Man you don't listen to many groups do you?
To me. This is the best debut album by ANY group..all time
2024 who’s listening to this masterpiece
❤❤❤❤❤❤
🙂😁🙂😁🙂 I am.... still sounds fantastic

The year is 2024. This song is 57 years old, and still perfect
BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME BABYYY
Every time I hear the solo a tear comes down my eye.
For sure.
One thing bad about this killer song this it ends ☮️🔥🔥🌲🌲
"The doors" por siempre... Quién lo escucha en el 2023?que en las generaciones siguientes, se sigan oyendo la música de "the doors" "jim morrison" "el rey lagarto"👏👏👏
The Year is 2024 ... Light My Fire 🔥 is still Hot 🔥...57 years Later
The year is almost 2024. This song is going to be 58 years old and it’s STILL the best Jam I have ever heard in my life. Even better than my Albums.
Psychedelic blues rock. Legendary tune.
One of the most legendary songs ever written and performed.
Instrumental part is so badass
I know right!!!
I agree
Ben Santiago total
As far as I'm concerned, they could have cut out all the lyrics, front and back, and this tune could have been even more mesmerizing than it already is.
100% FACTS!!
The doors is the best thing that happened to the music
The Doors were such a collision of great talent.
The year is 2023. This song is 56 years old, and still perfect!
This song never gets old
This Robbie Krieger song is truly timeless, and sometimes a track as great as this deserves a video like this: no frills, just the music telling its story....RIP Ray Manzarek....The Doors will never close.
Jim wrote the second verse and part of the chorus ("Try to set the night on fire"), while Ray added the Bach-influenced introductory organ motif; John also suggested that it should open with a single snare drum hit.
Jim wrote many of the lyrics.
@@freeguy77 Yeah the way they included themselves as composers is great. Robby came up with the melody and first verse, Jim the second verse, John the Latin-style rhythm and Ray the bach-inspired intro.
incredible how this song overcome the years and STILL...
The Doors are forever my favorite group.
I second that 🤘🤘🤘😎😍
Not my favorite group. But easily, easily,, my all-time favorite HARD ROCK song, and one of the most popular in R&R history! #1 for 3 spectacular weeks on the Billboard Hot 100: Jul. 29-Aug. 12, 1967, sandwiched between 4 spectacular weeks of #1 "Windy" (The Association), and then Aug. 19 "All You Need Is Love" (Beatles), and then 4 weeks of #1 (Aug. 26-Sep. 16) "Ode to Billie Joe" (Bobbie Gentry). What a Summer of Love it was! South Florida.
@@freeguy77 Gracias por tu valioso comentario. Saludos
I was a teenager and the doors were my favorite band
I was also a teenager and I still like the Doors, today i am 71 years old@@rubybates1344
This is one of the best examples of 1960s Psychedlia -- a fantastic amalgam Classical, Jazz and Spanish influences, which is what Psychedelic music is all about. Morrison's lyrics are the stuff of legend. This one moves just sooooo right -- then as now. I've got a lot of great memories associated with this tune. Jim (RIP) Ray (RIP)
its 2023, and it is still as smooth as velour in a cup.
I'm 17 yrs old . And I love the Doors.
😮Congratulations Men!! 🎊 this music never died!!
I'm going to be 40 in June of 2023 and still listen to The Doors on the LP's, CD's and c-tapes 😺👍.
R.I.P., Jim Morrison ✌️.
Greetings from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
The legacy of the doors will live on forever people. I don’t care how old you are the doors are the best they’re my first psychedelic band of all time and they always will be my first and psychedelic battle of all time.
I love you now and forever, The Doors I will make sure that your legacy will never be forgotten by playing your music every day as much as I can every hour within the hour. Love you forever ❤
Yes 🎈
This was the first Doors' song I ever heard. I was about ten when I forced my mother to buy me the single in Woolworth's. So very worth it.

Definitely one of the greatest songs of all time! Top 25!
Love love this song and always will , timeless !
There is pure magic in between those grooves.
The Doors are very, very special.
This song is literal perfection
I want to get in a time machine and go back in time so bad to the 1960's, and also the 1970's.. I've been a Doors/Jim Morrison fan since 1967 as a 5th grader. What a time that was - what a great period for rock and pop music, especially the '60's.
BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME BABYYY
When it's time to chill it's time for the Doors!!!!
Thumb up in 2023. A rock classic, which never ages. I loved this song since my childhood and still listen from time to time
Still one of the best mixed albums in history.
First two albums by them are poorly mixed
@@theoryofmachines this version is way better than any remaster though.
Be kind man, not mankind. I also prefer original Strange days to mono remastered one
Lmao, drums panned hard left.
Mixed albums?
I can remember the first time I heard this song I was just eight years old in the summer of 1967 living in Chicago.
Some things you never forget. They were so good. RIP Jim and Ray.
I was a kid in 1967 and remember watching American Bandstand and seeing the Doors do Light My Fire. The song was just hitting the AM radio waves.
Every artist has its own unique style when it comes to music but this guy, this guy and his whole band really was one of a kind band
A gem of a song timeless
Cool vid with the turntable, brings back many groovy memories.
Glad vinyl/albums are making a come back. I’m 64 and can’t part with my collection. Rock on ☮️
God I love this song. Listening to this while driving on the strip with my first love. Fabulous
GREATEST HITS
I still remember the first time I heard this album in 1983...got it from a hippie that lived next door. Listening to this album is always gonna be like a religious experience for me..probably sounds strange but this album takes me to a different place when I hear it.
This still sounds like 🔥 since I first heard it the year I turned 12 when it was released! Still lights my fire!
One of those songs that brings up good memories. When I first heard the song we're on our way to Disneyland. From that day on. I was a door fan forever. 65 and going strong.
Saw it on a Playlist, had to listen to it, while medicating of course, RIP Jim ✌🏾👍🏾😎
When Light My Fire hit in 1967 it was played on AM radio constantly. At home I cranked up the AM radio console to listen to it while lying on my back on the floor my head just in front of the speaker. Drove my mom nuts!
Escape Velocity I had an am radio I got with S&H green stamps....I love that radio..it was not a console...but it drove my Mother mad....
I was ten years old , great song great band
Love songs, epic and great vocal interpration❤❤❤
In the 1960 this is the first song I heard from the doors.I was 10 years or so.fell in love with them.
Still sounds fabulous in 2020, I can only imagine how amazing it must have sounded in the 60s!
great songs really hold up.
You really can't!
@@stj971 ????
It would have sounded worse because the equipment it was being played back on wasn't very good in the 60s everything was mono on tiny speakers.
@@FormulaProg my older bro had a kicker Pioneer stereo system. It was heaven to listen to, especially with headphones.
Jim Morrison was not gonna change up his music for no one including Ed Sullivan. Many of you guys wasn't born when they performed on the Ed Sullivan either the late 60s or early 70s. But I'm sure you heard about it. Anyway, Sullivan asked them to take out the verse "girl we couldn't get much higher" As the story goes, Morrison said, "sure Ed no problem"! But when they performed the song they went ahead and left it in. Ed was furious! He promised them that they would never appear in his show again. And they didn't. It was reported that Jim said, were not changing our music for no one!
Summer Of 1967 Magic 🪄 The Doors Were One Of The Best Bands Ever !!!!!!! Jim MORRISON’s Vocals Were EPIC & TIMELESS
This song is sublime and transcendental. For it to have been created in 1967 defies description.
Im 30 years and love The Doors and Jim Morrison, thanks for the video from Uruguay
I was in high school when this song was popular miss those days
Quante migliaia di volte l'ho ascoltata 😘 e ogni volta sembra la prima volta !! Indimenticabili !! Grazie Jim & Doors 👏🏆🙏
Arguably the best song ever written
In my opinion Light My Fire is the greatest song in the history of music. Truly timeless!!!
It's up there.
I pressed the album in New Zealand Wellington way back, big deal you may think but the doors and Jim were my greatest idol.
This song and riders on the storm were the very first Doors tunes i distinctly remember hearing on the radio when i was very young. Boy do i love that memory 💖.

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire

Classic Doors!! Love this tune.
This song is madness, absolutely amazing! The drums are so darn good!!! The guitar solo is mouth watering!!! The electric organ is like taking drugs! You get stuck!!! You almost get sick
This handsome guy , set me on fire ,WOW ,,HIS MEMORY STILL GIVES ME COLD CHILLS LOL XX long live the 60s era lol xx
I was 11 years old when this album was released. My brother was 17. We were tight. Before headphones were being used. He had me lay down on his bedroom floor and put one speaker on either side of my head. I remember it like it was yesterday. The 70s were crazy/magical. Wouldn’t change a thing. RIP Jim. 😢❤
Cool!! I’m 17 yo now 😢 to go back in time and see young Jim live.

Beatles release Sgt Peppers!
It shouldve been #1
The Light My Fire single did.
The single Light My Fire was #1 in 1967 though. It's my "birthday song" since it was #1 on my birth day! And now I'm 55 years old also (2022). It's a fantastic song & I absolutely love that it's my b-day song! Incredible.
Album peaked at No. 2 on the chart in September 1967 (stuck behind the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) and going on to achieve multi-platinum status. It has sold over 13 million as of 2015. According to [John] Densmore, the Beatles had reportedly bought ten copies of the album, and Paul McCartney has claimed that following the album's release, he wanted his band to capture the Doors' musical style as one of the "alter egos" of the group for their upcoming concept album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doors_(album)
Side 1 is their best, with 5 of the 6 (for me) outstanding, and "LMF" anchoring the side. The one I dislike is "Soul Kitchen."
I remember first hearing this at a local bowling alley when I was in a bowling league back in 2001 on their jukebox!
When I was a really young child, like a toddler, my dad would play this song and I always loved it. Now I'm an older child (a teenager) and I still love it. I guess tiny little baby me knew their shit.
Esta es música, no como la mierda del Reggaetón. Gracias a Dios existieron estas leyendas e icónicos del rock psicódelico. Grande Doors !!! 🙌🏼

late night and time to get down.
73 here and listened to many many songs Light My Fire is in my top three, if not # 1
Most of “Light My Fire”* (1967) was penned by Doors guitarist Robby Krieger. He recalled : “I asked Jim [Morrison], what should I write about? He said, ‘Something universal, which won’t disappear two years from now. Something that people can interpret themselves.’ I said to myself I’d write about the four elements : earth, air, fire, water. I picked fire, as I loved the Stones […] ‘Play With Fire,’ and that’s how that came about.”
Krieger conceived the melody and put down most of the lyrics, which are about leaving inhibitions behind in flames 🔥 of passion.
Initially, the tune had a folk flavour, but if ignited when Jim Morrison created the second verse (“our love become a funeral pyre…”), and Ray Manzarek crafted the famous organ intro. Drummer John Densmore also contributed, setting the rhythm.
It became THE DOOR’S ANTHEM❕ Included on their first LP, it was a huge winner and launched them to sky-high stardom. “Light My Fire” really seized the attention of a mass audience.
On the album, the track ran 6:50. It was deemed too long for airplay, but radio stations got ample requests from listeners who heard it off the vinyl. So their label decided to issue a 2:52 version. A KNOCKOUT❕
Jim Morrison indicated in his notebooks that he disliked “Light My Fire” and hated performing it. He seemed to resent that the popularity of the band stemmed from that lay, which he had not worked much on.
This was the last song Jim Morrison played live. It took place at The Warehouse in New Orleans, December 12, 1970. Midway, he became exasperated and smashed his microphone 🎤 into the floor, ending the show. He passed away - untimely - less than a year later : July 3, 1971.
A movie titled “The Doors” (1991) was scripted and directed by Oliver Stone. Actor Val Kilmer portrayed Jim Morrison.
A MONUMENTAL CLASSIC… THEN, NOW AND FOR AEONS‼️ 💙🔥💚
Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed will you remain, James Douglas Morrison (1943 - 1971)… 🌹
* This was the first rock song featuring both guitar and keyboard in the instrumental section❕
That bass piano that Ray is playing sounds spooky and haunting in a very soothing in just a strange way. Reminds me of the 70's when I was just a kid.
