This is the third video/interview I’ve seen of Mrs Bonnie and I must say she’s very realistic. Sometimes it’s discouraging to hear but she’s giving the honest truth which many should hear so they can properly scale their expectations.
Thank you! I want to be very transparent so no one is mislead and also its understood that the time and money that's required to operate a successful venue.
Hi, I have experience in this field as I work for a community organization that rents venue space. I manage the rentals. I think my line of work had specifically prepared me run my own event rental space because I know who wants space, what they want to use it for. I’ve seen the pitfalls, mismanagement choices of not promoting the space and I’ve dealt with clients who were profitable and clients who needed so much interaction that in the end we lost money because of their requests and their own anxiety about their event. I’m not sure how to find a space or fund it initially, but I know the need is there.
I am currently renting tables, chairs, tents, linen, props, setting up dessert tables for all occasions, and more to afford a venue next year. I have been documenting it on my RUclips channel. It's hard work, but I know it will pay off in the end.
Hi there Bonnie, please how can I contact you, I need help am planning to open an event venue out here in California (northern ) but I really don't know where or how to start.
Hello! I would suggest purchasing my ebook (www.bonnierhawthorne.com), that will provide you with some helpful information as how to get started. I would also suggest contacting your local Zoning Office to learn more about policies and procedures in your area.
No, I'm being transparent about what it takes to operate a venue. I don't want you to go blindly thinking you are going to make a lot of money right off. You have to put in a lot of long hours and wear a lot of hats; I'm a realist, not someone trying to sell you on something without giving you an honest appraisal.
I've owned/operated several venues ranging from 10,000 square feet - 1,500 square feet. When I purchased my first venue I thought it would be easy because I was a wedding planner and owned my own rental company.I had no clue of everything involved. I'm going to give you the good, bad and ugly side to operating a venue. Most people give you the fluff; not me! I want to set you up for success because you are investing your time and money into this endeavor. I always say, "failure isn't an option." I'm not going to lie to anyone; owning a venue is hard work. Not only maintaining it, but understanding the operational aspects and what it takes to sustain your market. If I confused you, let me know what your questions are so I can respond appropriately.
@@amcclure2333 Please clarify what you were confused about, and I will better explain. I'm going, to be honest with you, it's not easy, it's long hours but it's fulfilling.

It will payoff; having the knowledge of what it takes to pull off an event is critical in venue ownership.
