Barton is trying to put himself in the Souness, Keane and Vieira category in terms of that fire, if not ability. But the truth is that Savage was a good player (I say this even as a Forest fan) and had a better career than Barton, and though he got up to antics he had enough control to not do anything truly reprehensible (unlike Barton).

I was at a game Manchester City V Sheffield Untied when Vinny Jones got himself sent off I'm not joking within 5 secs of the start to the second half!!! It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Barton is a really interesting guy, a number of years ago I was speaking to someone within the youth setup at City and apparently one of the things that they test for with the young players coming through is IQ and in the 15 years or so this guy had been at the club, no one had got anywhere near his IQ score.
