Love this song. This track has always felt like a Tricky song that Morphine covered. I'm sure,Tricky (and Trip Hop in general), are responsible for birthing this song....and Morphine was the perfect vessel to deliver it. Soooo...daaamn...eroootic.
I have listened to this song many times while high, and I always get the impression that he is trying to say something else, like he was speaking in code or something. Does anyone else get the same impression?
so occult, greek mythology might help interpreting. ship setting sail could bis meant to depict him as fareman, charon, across a river, the styx or acharon maybe and the ship is supposed to sink or go down, hell, hades, tartarus i guess. i will be there to chatch you, on the other hand suggest the singer is a higher diety deeper down, luzifer perhaps. if i just knew who Martha Lee is, i might able to make real world sense of it...

Morphine is one of my favorite bands, ever. But they're so frustrating to me, so many times, with song lengths. Some of their tracks just need to be longer, imo. This one has so much more room to go. The chord changes, voice etc. right at the end hint at something amazing to come, then it just effing ends.
