I’m not in a car. But I sleep daily on an ottoman bed it’s cot size 30x75 it folds into a large ottoman the gram is metal. I am heavier so I bought a 8 in mattress & I use 2.5 in foam topper. Perfect for smaller spaces. I do have a twin mattress & twin frame. I don’t like hybrid mattress they have no edge support for bed sitting. Your place looks cozy
The folding chair makes perfect sense, and I love it! You get the best of everything, a flat bed to sleep, plus a raised chair to sit up to read, write, work, or sleep with your head elevated.
You're welcome, there is so much space in the van when it's laid out the right way. I started making a couch/ dog bed at the rear of the van...should have a video next week to show it. I am always trying to find ways to improve. 😊
I agree with the open concept inside the van. Taking out the passenger seat is the key for added options. Love the creativity in your van ! THANKS for sharing.
Thank you Jane, I figured since I am travelling solo, there would be no need to keep the passenger seat. There is so much you could do with that area. The possibilities are endless. 😊
@@WandaonWheels-ej9rq Does the fireplace put out any heat, or is it just for the lighting? If it does put out heat, how many watts does it draw per hour? I would love to find something to warm my vehicle up on occasion without having to turn it on. I bought a 2005 CRV (roomier than newer models) with the thought of using it as a place to live for a while, and I have been testing out, so took out the back seats trying to get more space, but it still is just too tight. I don't think removing the front seat would make it feel much better, though it may come to that. I don't really care for the vehicle for a number of reasons expect one - it is good on gas. I guess that makes up for a few things. :) Thank you.
For anyone else reading, I scrolled down and read that Wanda bought it at Giant Tiger in Canada. I went to the website and looked it up, and it is infrared heat with two settings, and the max watt output at 1,500 watts. The lower heat setting wasn't given, but with the highest at 1,500, I would assume the lower setting to likely be about 1,000 watts. I'll keep it in mind, but for me, I think I would do better with something with a lower draw. I deeply regret my CRV doesn't have a remote to turn it on and off, and I think that was something I should have made a priority so that on cold or hot days, I could quickly heat or cool it down when I got up. That would have solved the problem for a few months out of the year at least. :)
HI, I am always changing things up. I love the building, designing as much as the camping out. With the fireplace I can only use it when I have access to an outlet at camp or my own home. When I am not camping I like to sit in the van and have a coffee...it's so relaxing. I have now built a couch/ dog bed at the back to give Sergeant his permanent spot. I will upload a video as soon as I get a chance.
Thank you for sharing your home with us. Your back wall with the fireplace and Christmas tree are absolutely beautiful. You should take a photo of it. It looks like a gorgeous “Norman Rockwell” moment in time.
Aww, Thank you.. Sadly I have made changes again to accommodate a diesel heater. I purchased it last year but have not gotten it installed. I have made room for it, but still need to figure out how to do it.
Love this set-up! I have chairs like that in our basement for our kids when friends sleep over. I was able to replace the foam with higher quality memory foam that I ordered online and cut to size. There were zippers so it was easy to get the old foam out and replace it.
I found a seat back on temu. I will switch out the chair for the trifold now. I don't mind sitting or lounging in it the way it is, just the sleeping issues 😊
Maybe it's just the angle of the camera, my clothes are at the very back in the bins , tools are under the floor, and the food is stored under the microwave in the cupboard. If you view one of my earliest videos , it will give a closer look at the storage etc .. 😊😊
Nice idea. If you put a clip on the top you can hold the blanket. And if you put the pillows into a box or big bag that fits into the drivingseat you can move them faster at the side when you have to drive. Very cosy look into your car. Greetings from Germany.

She stated it was very comfortable and solved the problem with the uncomfortable bed.
Couldn't live like this, full time, but still very impressed by your cleverness in creating this van's pretty layout & efficient design :) (You might be able to create a back support from a sturdy folding restaurant menu board with locking side supports. The type you see used as sidewalk displays. As long as it's not too tall. But adjustability would be fixed to one upright position. The other option might be to dismantle the klick-klack chair you currently have & recover it, top & underside, with the thicker foam you like. You could also remove the lower leg portion of the frame, to make opening & closing the bed easier, & use a little thicker/extra foam to make up the height difference. Last, if the metal frame is riveted together, you should be able to cut it apart with a quality hacksaw.)
If the trifold is more comfy for sleeping, maybe get a back cushion for it. Or maybe get rid of the chair/bed and get a folding low beach chair for sitting so you could put it out of the way at night when not using. Just some thoughts. Great video:)
Hi, Thank you for the tip 😊. I have found a solution to the problem. I will use a cushion from a sunbed . It's easy to fold and tuck away during the day.

I drive a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan and I'm thinking you have WAY more space than I have. Then I realized my bed is way wider than yours and it's taking up an awful lot of floor space. I think tomorrow I'm going to knock about a foot off the side of my foam and free up some space! See you at RTR?
I agree the bed is what takes up most room in a mini van. My bed is just about 24 inches wide, more than enough room for me to sleep on. The only issue I have with my bed is the bars that I can feel, not enough cushion. I just found an old sunbed topper in my shed, it's firm and I think it will work . Happy travels 😊😊

I like the yellow lantern, i fire up kerosene lanterns on the porch, every night. No.1 must have for camping .
Thank you, This is a battery operated lantern with led lights. I do have a red kerosene one that I use in my garden as well . 😊
I absolutely love your home. Where ever did you get your chair?
Thank you 😊❤️. Here is the link for the chair

@@WandaonWheels-ej9rq aww, thank you so much. Have a fantastic evening!
Your welcome @@Loverofjunkjournaling
Love the little fireplace. Does it run off of the jackery, how long?
Hi, The fireplace uses electricity , I only use it when I have access to an outlet.
Memory foam dear😊
Thank you 😊
do you have a video about your power? thank you
No, I am.sorry Indo not....I will have to make one. I am however using two jackery 1000s with two 100 watt solar panels.
Nice! Would you have a link for that chair? I'd love to get one.
Yes input it in the description😊
@@WandaonWheels-ej9rqnot there
That swinging side table is situated up way too high to be able to comfortably use it while sitting up in the chair, eg: using a keyboard on that table
It's the perfect height in chair mode, not the lounge or bed, it was placed that height for chair mode. 😊😊
The only thin I don't like is not being able to stand up.
I agree , I hope one day to afford one that I can stand in.
Hi Wanda 😊 I think I mentioned I have the same chair / bed. Can you tell me what size sheet that is? Also do you have any of the legs on the chair?
Hi, I could not find a sheet the proper size so I am.using a couch cover, here is the link on Amazon. hyha Printed Sofa Couch Cushion Covers Replacement Couch Seat Covers Stretch Sofa Seat Cover Furniture Protector Sofa Slipcover Soft Flexibility with Elastic Bottom (Large,Paisley) a.co/d/90M6ROY
I have removed the arms and legs from the chair.
Hello nice to see you. Love your van . I had one of those fires . I’m just a bit worried about you getting out of your van in emergency. Have you booked off your side doors. Only saying i get worried I need to get out of my van . 😊 x
Sorry 🤭🫣 I just saw your other video. With your table set up at your door not block off ❤😊
Don't worry, I have no problem escaping in an emergency.
@@WandaonWheels-ej9rq I was wondering about if you needed to drive off in a hurry. It seems like you would have to move a lot of things if someone was trying to break in. Not trying to be negative.😁✌
Do you have a Christmas tree in your van🤔
Not yet. I might do a mini one...😊
Rather than adding a mattress topper have you thought about using plastic lattice underneath the mattress and over the bars?
Hi , Thank you 😊 I have found a solution now. I had a topper for a sunbed and it fits perfect
Sightlines are important for a spacious feel too. I've seen too many videos of van builds that try to carve out a bedroom with walls and door. Immediately reduces the visual size and so unnecessary. Who do you need privacy from? Your SO who will probably go to bed at the same time? Dinner guests who leave for their own van beds?
I like the openness , If I had a large sprinter of something , maybe I would have a room for the bathroom
If I were to do van life, my choice would be a step van. Ceiling height. Wide width. Square corners. Room for toilet/shower.
How much power does the fake fireplace use. It looks so pretty..
Hi, The fireplace will run at 750 or 1500 watts. I only use it when I have access to an electrical outlet.
Where can I find that chair/bed??
Hi, Here is the link to the chair

Cut pool noodles and put them on the bars underneath sea fabric and see if that will help
Thank you for the tip

Hi Wanda, we share a name.
Wanda is a beautiful name ❤️
I THINK this is the same van that “Minivan Lee” has, but yours feels 3x the size! ❤ 🚐 🏡
It's possible, I did watch one man's videos and took many ideas from it. ❤️
@ well it’s perfect!
