    I went to Moody back in the 1980's and I felt the exact same way this guy does about first impressions of Moody. It's encouraging to hear that Moody is still so focused on teaching God's word and caring for their students and each student's walk with the Lord.

      bratton837 thanks for taking the time to watch this video and comment! I always enjoy hearing from alumni and their experience here. Moody certainly has a rich history, and like you said, it’s great how they’ve stayed faithful to their mission, especially when so many other institutions have fallen away or died out. Thanks again and God bless!

    Hi!
    Thank you so much for making such a great video!! :))
    I’m currently thinking of applying to Moody as an international student :)
    but I didn’t know that all students have to take math credit...and I was wondering how they are like since I’m not good at math stuff..:(
    Also, how hard is it to study at Moody..??:)

    • @GospelSimplicity
      @GospelSimplicity  5 лет назад +1

      It’s my pleasure! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. That’s so exciting that you’re considering applying as an international student! We have a really awesome international student body. In fact, my roommate is an international student too. I really wouldn’t let the math credit worry you, it’s not a “real” math credit. You can take classes like personal finance, reasoning, or contemporary issues in science and they all count as math. The second question is a bit more difficult as different people would give different answers. I’ll preface it with, I wouldn’t let concerns about the difficult keep you from coming. It can certainly be challenging at times, but everyone will be in the same boat, and you will all get through it together, even when it seems overwhelming at times. Some students struggle more than others, but everyone grows because of the challenges, and as long as you apply yourself you can not only survive, but excel. Hope that helps! Feel free to let me know any other questions you might have😊

    This video was very helpful! I'm interested in Moody and am looking to learn more specifically what it's like to be in the music department, specifically music composition. I don't know if you can tell me anything about that or even have a friend who knows about the music department? I would love to hear about it! God bless!

    • @GospelSimplicity
      @GospelSimplicity  4 года назад +1

      Hey Isabella! Thanks for watching the video and reaching out! I'm so glad it was helpful for you. I don't personally have a lot of experience with the music department, but I have some friends who are part of it. There's certainly lots of opportunities to perform in chapel, and there's literally pianos in every single classroom plus tons of practice rooms. I hear that it's an intense program, but a really rewarding program. All the music students I know really enjoy it. Also, part of the curriculum is going to shows in the city which is a really fun way to get out and explore the city and Chicago's amazing art and music scene. If you have any specific questions, I might be able to reach out to people who could give you better answers about the music program than I can.

      Gospel Simplicity Gospel Simplicity That’s great thank you! I’m very passionate about the Lord and ministering to others and I’m very passionate about composing music . I think one of the questions I have for one of your friends is would you say Moody is a good fit for someone like me who wants to Lord willing pursue composing music professionally? I would love to serve in the church with piano or singing etc basically anything that ties into music while ministering to people but I also want to pursue composing outside of the church. Do your friends feel like they are given enough experience/knowledge/ opportunity to pursue that? Hopefully some of that made sense!😂 thank you

    • @GospelSimplicity
      @GospelSimplicity  4 года назад +1

      Great question! I actually have heard conversations similar to this before. I think that you will be given the technical/theoretical skills to compose well, which will translate to music outside and inside the church. So in that sense, I’d say yes. However, if you’re looking for a school with lots of secular music industry connections, there are definitely other schools that are better positioned for that in terms of networking, alumni connections, etc. Another thing to keep in mind is that a big selling point of Moody is that no matter your major you will be getting LOTS of Bible training as well. For some, that’s a positive, and Moody is a great fit for them. Virtually nowhere else will be able to give you both like Moody can. However, for some, that’s a drawback as they’d prefer to focus all of their energy on their craft/area of interest, rather than pursuing two things at once. Just something to keep in mind. Hope that helps!

      Gospel Simplicity That definitely does help! Thank you again! I’m just going to continue praying on it and leave it all in God’s hands! I trust that He has a plan for me even if I don’t know what that necessarily is at the moment! Also I love watching your videos they are very encouraging and I can’t wait to watch more! :)

    Hey I loved the video. So I plan on going to Moody in the fall, and I have been told by some people that it’s not worth having a car in Chicago. My question is should I just sell my car prior to going and have a little more pocket money? Or keep my car to drive back home during breaks? I’ve heard that having a vehicle is more of a liability than anything there and I wanted to get advice from someone who actually goes to Moody.

    • @GospelSimplicity
      @GospelSimplicity  5 лет назад +2

      Logan LaBar Hey Logan! I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and I’m excited to hear that you’re planning on coming to Moody! You’re going to love it. That’s a great question. So the first thing to know is that if you’re a freshman there’s a decent chance you won’t be able to have your car here. It’s interesting that you should ask because it’s a question I’m currently personally considering. You by no means need a car here. As a student you’ll get a “U-Pass” which will give you free access to all public transit in the city, and Chicago has a fantastic transit system. There’s multiple stops right by Moody and the L (the train) will get you wherever you need to go. I wouldn’t necessarily call having a car a liability. There are occasional break ins, but not so much so that I would be too concerned. Your car will likely be in the garage and should be pretty safe. If you live somewhat close by, it might be nice to be able to drive home for breaks/weekends. If you’re like me (East Coast), it’s honestly cheaper to fly than pay for the gas of a 12 hour drive. The only reason I’m considering bringing my car is because I walk to church with all my guitar gear, and that’s gonna be a pain in the winter, but right now I’m leaning towards just taking an Uber for the weeks that I play. Sorry that this was such a long response, but I hope it helps! Congrats on coming to Moody! Come say hi sometime once you’re here😁

    Hi! Great video btw it was really helpful. I don’t know if you’ll respond but Is moody difficult to get into? I’m a sophomore in high school right now and I just want to know what I should keep in mind. Thankyou!

    • @GospelSimplicity
      @GospelSimplicity  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Kiki! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. I’m honestly not quite sure what the acceptance rate is, but it’s definitely a more holistic approach that’s less focused on test scores and more on your essays that they’ll have you write and other things. It’s certainly not so difficult that you should be discouraged from applying. Hope that helps!
