    Ah, the Steampunk Dwarven Sky-pirates. Despite the fact I have since gravitated more to Death armies, it was these guys who got me into Age of Sigmar. It's nice to see what the Duardin can achieve when they move away from being hidebound by tradition in the same way the old world Dwarfs were.

    They could do so much with KO as there are really no limits to duardin engineering now. I like how all the characters really made themselves who they are without any outside interference from the gods. And they are still successful in the lore

    The duardin of Chamon are honestly way cooler than I give them credit for. I do recall reading this section in the Core Book, but mixed in among the greed narrative and the demise of the world below, I think I lost the miracle of the Kharadron Overlords’ society. Hearing you relay it more cogently and separate from the other bits of the Chamon narrative was wonderful, especially the lifeboat inversion. In a way, they’re sort of similar to the Adeptus Mechanicum from 40K in how they found a way to adapt to a chaotic time by completely transforming their society. It’s a remarkable feat, one that’s endlessly entertaining to discuss and I look forward to the rest of this week’s content!
    I find their lore interesting, but their canon colors and the ballon design pervading the models turns me off. Plus I’ve never been one for dwarves.

      I spent hours looking at little ships in the artwork and I think that there is lots of room for conversions. It even says in the book that there are countless one off designs. I plan on doing heavy conversions with mine. Integrating the endrins into hulls and making them more like flying steampunk submarines. Hell, the conditions of Chamon skies at times sure make it an adequate comparison :D

    Question: If the gods can walk amoung the mortals why dont the chaos gods do the same and kill some gods or mortals personally in age of sigmar?

    • @2Tough
      @2Tough  6 лет назад +4

      It needs to be fleshed out more, but it seems the chaos gods cannot personally enter the realms..... just claim, corrupt and include them in the realm of chaos. Truthfully, I want a book that focuses on the drama of the gods and how they differ from the chaos ones. I think it would help a lot

    • @crythorga4880
      @crythorga4880 6 лет назад +3

      How could the other gods capture slaanesh then? Their realm needs to be accessable to enter and to leave for that. So they should be able to go fight the other gods/mortals too then shouldnt they? I understood that the gods where in a seperate realm before the endtimes and they couldnt use all their power in the mortal world so they had to corrupt and where only able to sent some demons and grant some gifts but where limited. But in age of sigmar gods are no longer stuck right?. Thanks for answereing already and i would love if you could give me some more insight.

    • @reallifejon
      @reallifejon 6 лет назад +4

      @@crythorga4880 I see it as being that the Chaos Gods are too big. Mortals in the 'real' world create Gods in the Realm of Chaos mainly through their beliefs. Those Gods can influence the real world but not generally enter it themselves except in very small pieces (their daemons).
      Some mortals become Gods through a combination of entering the realm of Chaos, surviving it and then having mortals worship them / believe in them. In the Old World, those Gods didn't come back, as far as we know.
      In the end times, several mortals became new Gods... Fastforward past the destruction of the Old World... The new Mortal Realms are more magic saturated and possibly less 'real' than the Old World was. If you know the 40K setting, I see the mortal realms as being set in one of the areas that overlaps realspace and warp space, like the Eye of Terror.
      So magic is more powerful here and the Gods are more powerful. Some of the smaller, younger ones that were originally mortals still inhabit the mortal / real side of things more than the warp side. Nagash, Sigmar and presumably the Elven Gods too. And it's easier for mortals to enter the Realm of Chaos / Warpspace and survive and return.
      But I think the Chaos Gods are still too large to be able to properly enter the 'real' worlds / mortal realms directly. Although their daemons can manifest in greater numbers and don't disappear now. i.e. the daemons can maintain themselves / they're stable, not constantly in danger of 'evaporating' back into the warp.
      All of that said, although there is much more talk about the Gods walking among the mortals, we still haven't seen very much of it. We haven't actually seen Sigmar, so it's not 100% he's quite there / real in the same way that other characters are. Alarielle and Nagash seem pretty real, I suppose. All of these Gods though are still relatively new and small in the grand scheme of things. They haven't been Gods for very long. And whereas the Chaos Gods have basically become the Realm of Chaos / warpspace themselves, these newer, ex-mortal Gods may have shaped and influenced the mortal realms but haven't reshaped the realm of magic.

      Crythor GA
      I think there are some restrictions to what the Chaos gods can do and where they can go but largely I think they don’t interfere directly for a couple of major reasons. First, I think the motives and goings on of Chaos gods are unknowable to us. We just don’t fully understand what and how they think. Second, it seems like they just have a lot going on. When they destroyed the World That Was, they got bored almost before its destruction was complete and they turned their attentions to other worlds and realms. Each Chaos God has countless billions of troops fighting an untold number of wars on an unknown number of worlds throughout time. Even if you’re a god, that’s a lot to juggle. All of that, plus Chaos gets distracted any time you yell squirrel. I think they just be busy.

    Yay KO week! KO are by far my favorite AoS faction. I really love all the pro-capitalist propaganda and how 'The Code' mimics 'American Constitutionalism'! They maintain a merit-based economy without any social-safety net, theocracy, or nobility. They are fierce individualists, and everything they do is for financial profit.
    The only improvement I'd like is for GW to take the ideology further. KO should be just as pro-business and industry as the Sylvaneth are pro-environmentalism.
    Thanks Doug! Look forward to the rest of KO week!

      I don't see them as being all that powerful really, not in a world where there are 20ft tall daemons, humans riding armoured griffons, powerful magic and all the crazy lightning stuff Stormcast get. Think of it this way: aether-gold doesn't make many weapons that are too powerful, but it allows ranged weapons to become ubiquitous. There's only so much gunpowder to go around for the dispossed or the free peoples, but the comparatively small military of the Kharadrons allows them all to be tooled up. And as far as flying beasts, there's certainly more than a few! Not everyone has them, but some factions can field entire armies of flyers.

    • @darionietlispach2470
      @darionietlispach2470 6 лет назад +1

      @@stephenhumphreys9149 thats true bit they are also evolving really quickli. some of them have miniguns... i think the big monsters etc should be a horrifieng, yet rare view on the battlefield. rare enough that the rank and file soldiers are still the most important part of most battles. othervies why even bother to bring them on? i love the dark brutal theme of warhammer and was (and still am a bit) worried AOS lost it and turned into golden action figures bashing unrelatebal bad guys over the head with goofily big larp weapons. i feel most engaged in the stories, if they are told in the perspective of the regular grunt on the front. and the first question i would ask my commander would be:" why bother with swords and halberds if we just could buy freaking plasma rifles and flying fortresses from the most capitalistic faction in the hole AOS universe... yeah maybe aether gold or code oder some other thin reason they wouldnt... but one of them surely is greedy enough

    The most original army in AoS with the most botched release.
    Discuss.

    • @GecktronLP
      @GecktronLP 6 лет назад +1

      The initial release was good. They won quite a few tournaments after the release. They were rather a victim of circumstances. The Kharadrons were the last faction released (April 2017) before the design team switched to the AoS 2.0 style Battletomes (starting with Nurgle in January 2018).
      The Kharadrons are also rather hard to balance as they are a shooting-heavy army in a close combat focused game. They break the mold and can never be to strong or else other players won't have any fun playing against them. And im saying that as a Kharadron Player with over 5000 points of duardin.

    • @ClockworkBananaMoon
      @ClockworkBananaMoon 6 лет назад

      @@GecktronLP I hear you and I don't disagree. However: the weapon choices vs warscroll for the ACompany is a travesty. The Thunderers warscroll cock-up was monumental. Every change brings a nerf to anything that was good about them but without re-balancing anything that's bad about them. A big chunk of warscrolls and some Skyport rules make the Battletome more of a guidelines than a Code (see what I did there?) and I spent three bloody days trying to secure the bloody Ironclad on the bloody base. I love them, I collect them and I will keep playing them no matter what. But that release and what fallowed was just a total shambles.
